They are not condoning it at all. They are actually doing the opposite. The point of this song raising the issue of oppressed women in such situations. Saying, "I will always be by your side", not necessarily because they want to, but rather because of a cultural decision and pressure that put them there. It's not really what they want, but it is what they have been chosen to want.
@TheJewCat I really doubt they are promoting that sort of thing- they seem to be showing the absurdity of it in a subtle way - that may gently ask the listener to open there eyes , take off their rose-colored glasses. At the least the contradiction of the sad lyrics, and the tone sounds like that of down right , rock bottom subservient perspective who is in "love" .. i may not be as clear as i'd like to be.. But atthe very least the combo of this composition is meant o be an eye opener
