My head feels like a steel safe full of random liquids im supposed to protect whenever im in an afternoon class and everyone is just asking why im spinning my head around and replying with random stuff when they ask me about it, its like drinking alcohol exept im too young for it(14 yrs old rn, and yes ive tried it and lets just say i woke up under a table)
How did the artist capture this level of accuracy? Happens/happend to me too , here in Nigeria.
I love how the end showed the teacher himself experienced how tired he really was, just goes to show how you don't often ever realize that the teachers at our school literally have to follow schedules, remember all of their students ' names, try to remember what topic they're in, technical problems and having to try and fix something while the students don't ever help, teaching, discussing and talking for hours without break. Especially when you think of how the average math teachers are usually strict due to stress.
And Teachers are expected to be perfect in every way while dealing hormone obssessed idiots every 5 days.
Not only all of that but teachers have to organize the grades for each of their hundreds of alumni, my teachers can barely catch a break even on holidays!

And that's the reason we should respect them, they do this for passion, they sacrifice theirs time in this life to help the lifes of others with nothing back but the gratification of knowing that those boys and girls are gonna be the future.

I feel like we're forgetting that the teacher was fighting harder to continue staying awake and keep teaching. He might have kids, bills, errands to run after work, but here he is keeping it all together. He deserved that nap. :(

When I was in high school we had just gotten done with midterms and everyone was dragging hard. Our history teacher started the lesson and about 5 minutes in he saw most of the people struggling to stay awake or were barely paying attention.
He stopped the lecture and told us all it was a free day and we could study, catch up on homework, talk quietly or take a nap at our desks. It was our time.
I'll never forget that day and the lesson he taught me: one of the greatest things you can give to someone is their time back.

I love how the teacher also sleeps when everyone else does so. People forget about how they also have to wake up early for class, work all day, and do homework (grading papers) at home.

It’s incredible how the author conveyed this feeling when you want to fall asleep. The scene with the head is especially true, how it swings in different directions and with each tilt it becomes heavier and heavier. While watching it I want to yawn and sleep. This is simply incredible!
As a high school student who has to wake up at five AM every morning just to get to school, I related to this immensely. The feeling of a heavy head and struggling to keep your eyes open is something I experience almost daily.
Do you have to travel far or does your school just start that early

Obviously, the heavy head part is a universal experience, but can we talk about that instant where his head turned into a swirling, dizzy mush of liquified goop? Or the parts where it's so hard for him to keep his eyes working they start shaking and drifting without his control? Those are things I NEVER in a million years thought I'd get to hear, or see, of someone else not only relating to those sensations, but finding a creative way to clearly visualize it in a way almost everyone can empathize with. This is one of my all-time favorite short films. I think about it all the time. Even the colors fit so well.

Aka the us, where they make you get up early, even though it’s been proven that teens need lots of sleep, and that delaying the start of school by An hour could cause more productive and ready to learn teens, less accidents due to tired students behind the wheel, and generally happier and healthier members of society.

everyone talking about the feeling of a heavy head but not about the fact that when you are this tired, you start to imagine you are truly in bed at home. i remember it vividly, how my brain perfectly recreated the feeling and environment of sleeping in my house. crazy to think about what the brain can do.
I remember seeing this as a kid and understanding non of what was happening, I found it weird because of the Artstyle
But now I'm in highschool I can totally relate to this.
The combination of sleepless nights finally catching up to you, a full stomach after lunch and a boring lecture, all aligns and it's impossible not to feel drowsy.

Same, what i do if i ask if I can go to the Restroom. Then I'll go to the canteen very fast, but some mints/ gummy candeis then go back to the restroom, dance for a bit and slap myself, then go back to the class and drick my water mix with mint candies then the knowing. . .

It's such an accurate representation of this state. Sometimes, you switch so quickly from reality to dreaming in your sleep that you don't even realize it. In fact, you're asleep, but you think you're awake. It also very accurately represented dreams, changing scenes every second, seemingly random and meaningless.
how come no one is talking about 2:40? Sometimes we don't even remember falling asleep. But the number one thing we never remember in life is when we were born and when we'll die. We're wasting half of our lives by sleeping. Sometimes we're gaining self awareness because of that, trying to fight for it to not fall asleep, but then we forget again. Our body gets more tired with each second passing of us not wanting to sleep. But after a little while, we do decide to rest for a little, and that's completely fine! Because it is one of the best things ever to do. Just to do nothing, relax, dream and refueling for the next exciting day.

Also, the lesson of acceptance at the end, seeing what I interpret to be his own death in the future. It's okay to just lay down and die for a while, especially when you need some rest. And then he put his head on the desk and napped.

@@bugfairywell, it's understandable that he would have done it with one or two students, but it was the whole class, so I guess what they were doing wasn't something bad, they were just tired and the teacher understood it, so much so that it also got infected from the sleeping group that He grabbed his chair and applied the phrase, "if you can't beat them, join them."

This is a crazy accurate representation on how it feels to go to school after an all-nighter studying. That type of fatigue hits different when you just finished eating lunch and your afternoon classes start. especially because no one is really talking to eachother at all since they themselves are trying to stay awake.
like, you just wanna sleep but you gotta fight off the tiredness. The only thing going through your head is "please fucking stay awake." ☺
This is my ap calc class after lunch. My teacher once let the person next to me sleep
No joke had a math teacher during middle school who did this. It was Friday and most of us had our heads down and by the middle of class all of us had them down. All she did was smile, sit at her desk and start grading stuff. Didn’t get upset, or angry or even the slightest bit annoyed. She claimed on Monday that it was the fastest she’d ever gotten home on a Friday and that she was appreciative. ❤
I love that part when he desperately tries to wake up various versions of himself, in class, at work etc. and finally we can see him as a baby and as an old, dying person. I find it powerfull. It's like we're trying so hard for most of our lives, we're tired almost all the time and for what? So we can realise it wasn't really worth it when it's too late? Much to think about huh

As someone with Narcolepsy, that is some of the best descriptions in a video of what i experienced multiple times a day, in multiple classes, everyday, throughout middle and highschool. I would try so so hard to stay awake, but no matter what i did, my head would eventually just, fall forward, onto the desk, or just hang, or even I'd just give up and lay my arms on my desk and sleep. It was awful. Only last year had i finally gotten diagnosed, so I'd gone through all of my schooling undiagnosed and struggling. It feels...nice, to see a video that accurately represents my experience. I also wanted to mention i love the art style!!! 💕

That is everyday life for me, or at least was until the pandemic when i slept only 4/5 hours per day having to wake up during morning, make my massive ass homework for every single subject and then go to school during afternoon and cooming back late at night having lttle to no free time
Even after many years, I revisit it and I love it so much.
It's nice that the teacher didn't wake up the class, but gave them time to rest, as well as to rest themselves.
As someone who can’t animate blur and stretch movements, this animation is terrifying.
When I was a substitute, I had one golden rule for myself: Let sleeping students lie. They'd be awake if they didnt need the sleep.
This one time, I had a class of seventh graders and they all finished their busywork in less than half an hour, so I shut off the lights and told them to take a nap. The poor kids were out like lights. Only seventh grade, and they were that exhausted.
It's beautiful how considered you are with the kids.

That feeling of everything feeling like a hazy cloud from your vision is all too realistic, it’s hard to even keep your eyes open and when you do keep them open it doesn’t even feel like you’re awake, you just feel like air in a bottle, your mind is freely moving like the air but your body is rigid and heavy like the bottle.

I remember once we had free time to study, and the teacher said we could sleep if we want to, but we have to like a lockdown drill if we did. This was so other people walking by couldn’t see half the class sleeping through out class windows

My eng teach' let us have a 5 min nap time on friday since his class is on the last hour and we look extremely tired bc of the week. He's extremely nice and fun (he said he liked appropriated jokes so some students put some on the tests (dw he warned us that we could do that ONLY depending on the teacher, the test and the grade) and his classes are the most fun.
He also got a cousin, he's my math teach, smtimes they would jokingly roast each other and the class would spread the infos. I had my math teach for 3 years now (Ill also have him next year), he's also fun and chill, kindda like his classes cause they re chill
It s almost the end of school here! My math teach said he ll bought some pizzas for us on our last class w him! Bc almost all of us has been together since 6 th grade and some people we re habituated to see are leaving next year kindda sad but meh

I woke 6:00 am and I brushed my teeth and change, eating cereal and I want to sleep more. When I went to school i walk around in cafeteria every day so I don’t fall asleep in class and that really helps me.

This is definitely how I felt during every second of every minute of math class. I just wanted to put my head down and nap even though everyone else was awake. But I couldn't because one, I have no idea how to even nap sitting down (I'm a doofus), and two, the teacher would just wake me up in three seconds.
I like how the teacher wasnt portrayed as the stereotype type of teacher, and instead he was seen as an actual person with feelings too

The way they animated his head falling again and again, transforming into weighted objects as he tries to stay awake is so spot on to what it actually feels like when you're ever in that sort of position. Especially because you start dreaming once your half asleep.

In the mornings I feel extremely drowsy then lunch comes around and I have a shit ton of energy then I come back to class and I feel like sleeping again. And I had a relatively good sleep schedule

School is boring so you sleep, but when your consle/PC turns on, your body wants to function normally now
yeah I always hate that it happens because if you start snoozing through a class I don't really feel like trying to study it at home now just because my head was feeling sleepy, I don't even get a good sleep at school so I feel scammed out of my time.
