My father-in-law ran an 181 for years, cutting many cords of wood. I offered him a good Husky 357, but he went out and bought a new MS 362. I guess he is a Stihl man!
@@patrickvennard838 it’s funny, I guess if there was one perfect saw, everybody would have it. That 357 is a great saw. I’ve got 2 more ms362’s to do yet, but I’m not a fan of any of the computer carb saws, irregardless of brand. They run too lean for air/fuel ratio in mid-range and don’t have the torque where it’s needed. The first version of the ms 362 was a manual adjustment carb, but it’s still a strato-ported set up. If I ever get time I’ve got a Stihl ms 361 of my own that I need to rebuild.
@@jimssawsnstuff8903 I am trying not to use 300, series Husqvarna and 21, series Jonsereds too hard It is getting pretty hard in the UK to find good used examples. For everyday stuff, I have a new MS462 and a Husky 550 XP that is ported I think the Stihl runs better.
I know people who cut their firewood with the MS170. Haven't ever owned one but I do prefer the Poulan 2150 in that size category, stupid simple to fix and not bad to mod slightly.

@ the 550 and Mk2 or the original? I like the smaller chassis of the original, but I gave mine away due to concerns with the crank bearings
@ I’ve ported a few 462’s now, they don’t make the torque a saw that size should, but they are ok
@@jimssawsnstuff8903 MKII it is a screamer and is reliable.
👍👍
