Don't know why it was 20 pounds a correct star or a square & 75 for a win in game 2. It should be either 15 pounds & 75 pounds or 20 & 100 pounds in game 2
Apart from the greatest supreme Are You Being Served I from the Colonies(U.S.) have never seen a full British program or any such from outside my country!
Friday nights... 8 years old... home from school, tea, BBC 2 Happy Days...get in the bath/shower...switch to ITV...my mom used to dry my hair after I had had a shower whilst we watched this...Coronation Street...aww Des Barnes is ruining a relationship again...stay up a little to see my Dad after he finished a Friday 1pm-8pm (early friday finish when he was on his 2pm-10pm shift rota)...have a little dish of his curry and rice...bed...read my Rainbow or Twinkle annual then sleep ready for The Raccoons, Rentaghost, Eggs N Baker and Going Live on Saturday morning ...AND BREATHE! P.S. Fuck I had totally forgotten about Andrew O'Connor.. lol! P.P.S. Hehe The Chippendales... I was more of Chip N Dale fan to be honest!
High Chaparral - that was my treat on a Sunday night before the school week started again. Then bed and the torch under the bed cloths for a little late radio on my transistor - Radio Luxembourg if I could tune it in. :)
In the version of this from 2014 and 2015 with Warwick Davis, the bonus game with naming things in a certain subject was retained, but the grand prize was £20,000 for the first series and £25,000 for the second. If the contestant didn't get nine correct, they would get £1,000 for each one they did get right.
I enjoyed this TV programme a lot when I was only 8 years old before I turned 9 on 24th July 1993 at the time. Looking back now... I watched this programme with my Mum at the time. #ChildhoodMemories
Many at ITV were surprised at why they bothered to revive this show. Take Your Pick was revived in 1992 by Thames Television (who were on death row with their London franchise due to end on 31st December 1992) so Central must have thought there was cash in reviving old game shows in the early 1990s.
There was, and not just at Central. Remember, LWT was reviving old game shows like Play Your Cards Right as the final provisions of the Broadcasting Act 1990 came into effect finally lifting the cash prize caps that made UK game shows the laughing stock of the Western World, as far as prizes were concerned.
I’m here in the Colonies and was born here many decades ago! I’ve seen the father of this program The Hollywood Squares here in the U.S. my favorite! I found it by accident from What’s My Line(U.S.) with panelist Monkhouse who I never heard of.
I think I've seen that episode of US What's My Line where Bob is on the panel. In his native country, he was a legend. Among other shows he did in the UK also included Family Fortunes and Bob's Full House.
0:45 - I always thought the production made a mistake in the opening music here. It seems that the music kicks in here, but stops for a few seconds for the announcer and restarts again - a bit messed up
0:32 - "queen of the Carry Ons" - sorry, not in my opinion, as Babs only appeared in nine of the 31 Carry On films. The Queen of the Carry Ons had to be the great Hattie Jacques who appeared in 14 Carry Ons.
@@leebeardshall2888 Come on, have a thicker skin. Now Barbara has sadly passed away, of course she was great in the Carry Ons, but Queen of them after only appearing in nine out of 31, Hattie Jacques was Queen of the Carry Ons, Babs was the Princess of the Carry Ons.
Why cant Challenge Tv show more of tbese shows with tbe wit n charm of tbe gameshow god. himself Bob Monkhouse
I'm sure the Queen appeared on the Show!,
they stuck Her in the Top Right Hand Corner!.
ITV1 UK version of Hollywood Squares (John Davidson era)
This is not 1993, as lottery did not start till 1994
Love Celebrity Squares.I really wish they would repeat these.Fantastic to watch ♥️♥️

Maybe the first 2 games should be worth 100 pounds & the future games 200 pounds. then 50 pounds a square if time's up during a game
Apart from the greatest supreme Are You Being Served I from the Colonies(U.S.) have never seen a full British program or any such from outside my country!
11:30 I always wanted to see this
Imagine if Rowan Atkinson aka Mr Bean was one of the celebrities, I bet he'd do a quick getaway with the Mini

Is this the same Gaynor Thomas who was on The Crystal Maze in Series 6 Episode 4?
Yes that’s her
Wish they choose a key to a car
Roy Walker
Jim Bowen
Bob Holmes
Appears On Celebrity Squares 1993
Absolute legend ☺️
R.I.P. Barbara Windsor you cutie.
This was the first episode of the 1990's revival.
I love the set from this show!
It as all based on the American Hollywood Squares which you should watch
"Trevor, of the Chippendales"
I'm guessing the Chuckle Brothers had a prior engagement to attend to?
A chipendale on top of Doreen haha 😄 how fitting
I was eyeing that 4 x 4 jeep all night. Nice shot lady, great prize!
And a lovely man 🙂
The Set Looks Almost Like the 1986-89 JOHN DAVIDSON Set

Vauxhall Calibre - awesome - and better than a motor boat on Bulls Eye :)
12:29 I don't know about a score of 150 on an IQ test, but a score of 180 makes you a genius at darts.😁
Good entertainment. Programmes got huge ratings. We need more entertaining programs on tv today.
It ran from 1975 to 1979 and recorded at Elstree were they now do Eastenders 1993 to 1997 series was recorded at Nottingham
The second game should be 100 pounds plus 20 pounds a square or however they earn that extra money
I didn't know that they can afford a car. I thought the grand prize was a holiday
30 pounds per square & 150 pounds for getting 3 in a row for game 3
I’m from Aylesbury 😊

1993: Celebrity Square (UK)
2020: Celebrity Square (Vietnam)
The Vietnamese version name is:Chon Ai Day
Gotta love Babs
🧀
This is certainly one they could bring back that they couldnt mess up lol
they did bring it back with Warwick Davis - and they did mess it up.
They'd mess it up in the US by inviting tik tok stars
@@rebekahneighbors wait! US tried to revive Squares!?
