I’m Aussie but I feel like Simon has the easiest accent to understand. Doesn’t matter how fast he talks. Great voice for narration.
I'm american. I'd rather listen to Simon of all english speaking Europeans. He doesn't force the "th" to "f" sound, or "r" to "w". It makes the intelligence things he says that much more enthralling!!!
Too bad he wrongly pronounces so many words. There are words he says the British way and there are so many he just pronounces wrong, especially American names.
All of this makes it hard to understand what he is saying. That means he is NOT communicating.

Every time I visit my family down in the States, they won't pick me up from the airport unless I have the good stuff.

German family members used to mail the good Kinder eggs to us before they were available in the US. Then customs started confiscating them. That was a sad day. The US versions just aren’t the same.
I had other chocolate stuff as a kid that had cheapo pewter figures inside. They also got the axe with Kinder Eggs. But I do not mind. There is plenty of toys and candy that are fine without being mixed. But if someone wants to mail me something from the region, they can skip over to Austria and mail me some Schwedenbomben from Niemetz.

Every time my grandmother came over the house she would pour herself a shot and say I need to take my Medicine. This was a Prohibition reference, where (ethyl) alcohol used for medicinal purposes was exempt from being banned.
The US has Kinder JOY Eggs which are more like a soft chocolate filling in a plastic mold these are NOT the same Kinder Eggs that are illegal and found around the rest of the world
An old chemistry teacher, former CBW employee (I kid you not), had an easy to remember saying about good and bad alcohol; "Ethel not Methyl." Unfortunately today the paucity of women named Ethel has killed off the mnemonic.

The 1 problem with Simon slowly taking over TH-cam is that sometimes I'll find a video like this that piques my interest but for some reason loose track of it and needs to go scour through his list of channels to find it. Of course I always head over to Business Blaze first and if I don't fall into a viewing pit and end up spending my day binging content there and forgetting what I was originally looking for I'll come over here and then systematically work my way through the rest.
Lucky for me the Sulphanilamide and flipper babies connections were being made and my mother never took it. What a nightmare!

The fact that people make moonshine in prison demonstrates the futility of banning alcohol. It’s worth noting, here, that inmates also routinely produce stabbing weapons (so much for UK knife laws), are liberally supplied with hard drugs (in spite of prohibition getting a sequel), and have even been known to produce firearms (wow, gun laws are useless, too).
Knife laws are a little bit weird, as what the heck do you chop veg and cut bread then? While it is of course illegal to carry blades outside, in public, you can't frisk everyone.
Still, countries like UK that have strict gun laws, don't have that many guns, even home made.

They just don’t have concealed carry, and it wouldn’t be practical, anyway, with the barrel lengths mandated for pistols. And they’re limited to manually-operated firearms. But ironically, they can have the standard capacity 30 round rifle magazines that are denied to Californians, for instance.
And as for the criminals, I heard a great interview quote from a reformed British gangster. He was relating a story of a constable taunting him by observing that “what we have, that you lot haven’t, is firearms.” The career criminal retorted that “what you’ve got, that we don’t, is firearms licenses.” He continued, “we’ve all got guns, mate.”

I loved getting kinder eggs when i lived in italy. They were small to great big giant 1's and also beautifully wrapped
I was traveling through the US, and stopped at a motel in a dry county. It was the weirdest thing. I felt like I had traveled into the past. The lady at the gas station said "people be shooting each other in the street" if alcohol was legal there. 🤔😮🤷♂️... really? Kentucky needs to get there stuff together. We all be getting wasted in every other state with no problems.

lol, every time I go to Canada to ski I smuggle a bunch of Kinder eggs back for my girlfriend. I think one time I had about 12 of the regular eggs, some other packages with different kinds of eggs and a stuffed animal, and two of the Giant Kinder Eggs. She was very happy. Also, she absolutely hates the Kinder Joys. She calls them fake Kinder eggs.

There are a lot of medications with methyl groups. That is to say a carbon with three hydrogens. The reason for this is presence of a methyl group increases the speed that the body absorbs the chemical. By increasing the uptake speed (not just the uptake of speed) the quantity of chemical needed for saturation is diminished. So it's a useful chemical structure, that like many things is misused. But yea don't do meth mkay.

Both can be safe if they are clean and like any other drug, used in proper dosage and moderation.

I differ with you Simon on the smells of the two alcohols; Methanol smells a little different than Ethanol. One can "tune" one's nose to tell the difference.

I live in Upstate New York U.S. and I regularly buy chocolate eggs with a toy inside. It's either incorrect that they're banned or it's the specific Brand that's banned for whatever reason.
You're not buying Kinder Surprise eggs, though you could smuggle them in from Canada if you were so inclined and weren't afraid of the potential fines.

wow what a shock, the number of deaths related to alcohol increased after being made illegal due to blackmarket manufacturing cutting corners and making a more dangerous product. Correction: Methanol and Ethanol do indeed taste and smell VERY different, but to someone not used to differentiating between the quality of distilled spirits, methanol might just be a marker of ‘cheap hooch’.
