At least you tell it as it is Sailing is not all fun and games ,as most of the other channels gloss it all over,at least if you are having a shit time you show it.lots of good quality content and views Well done, stay safe
Next time you're in my home waters I hope you get the chance to see a bit more of the East Coast and Thames Estuary, its a fabulous place to sail and explore but this isn't the sort of trip for that. There are books and books about crossing the Thames Estuary - looks like you simply looked at the charts and tides and worked it all out for yourself. All credit to you.
If we had more time we could have visited a lot more beautiful places, but time is ticking. We met a lovely guy in Ramsgate who showed us a book of crossing the Thames estuary, very interesting. We have done a lot of sailing, I suppose it just comes naturally to us now 🤔😄😁
I keep a solar shower bag aboard my Catalina cruiser for just those situations when I can’t get a shower at the marina. The idea is you fill the black shower bag with about 4 or 5 liters of cold water and place the bag out on deck in the sun. In an hour or two you’ve got piping hot water to take your shower. The shower head has a valve to control the flow. It beats washing up with a sponge and a bucket.
Great episode, the Thames Estuary is our sailing turf, but definitely better with AIS. Ramsgate is a favourite with great coastal running and walking routes.
Hey boys! What a great blog you are really good sailors. You have a great boat and you two make a very entertaining adventure, I have watched from the beginning and you make a very interesting video. Once again a great watch.
great film again boys "oops butter fingers" :) brilliant shot of you both on the bow, good to see you enjoying yourselves , the shotgun bread too funny, fair winds lads, stays safe...
And another great episode 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻you guys must be nearly home by now ; in real time. I’ll miss all this when it’s over . But until then … keep em coming boys ✌️😁
Oh no! I was waiting for the fish and chips review! I love that... 😂 Here in México are hard to find (but not impossible) as you guys can imagine! Safe sailing!
John Perry(Australia) Still watching every episode with great interest. Hope you pull into Pool Harbour on your trip around. Keep up the good work. You are helping me get through yet another lockdown here.
At 22:41 that looks like the old Medway Queen paddle steamer. She was in Bristol for a while having some work done and we crewed her back out to the channel when she was towed to her new home… I’m guessing that was Ramsgate.
Again a fantastic episode guys, at 14:36 I was waiting for the Duran Duran "her name is Rio" music! You might be too young for that though ;) Stay safe, all the best John
Binge watched the adventure finally caught up hope to see you pass Teignmouth Devon ! The wetherspoons pub in the town is named after a yacht The Jolly Brise!
Hello Levi, we hope you enjoyed all the episodes so far. The episodes are around 4 weeks behind so currently we are on the hard in Pembrokeshire, carrying out some repairs and maintenance, getting Atlas and us ready for the Atlantic circuit 😁👍
You guys have sailed an inspiring voyage. Thanks for sharing …. just sorry you sailed right past Tollesbury and skipped that free beer 🍻 I promised!! Can’t wait for the Atlantic adventure …. and please say when AIS has been fitted, so we can follow along. Go well …..
PS - that sailing ship being refitted in Ramsgate is the Deva (ex Te Vega) built in Kiel in 1930 to a design by Cox and Stevens (NY). She’s had many owners and a chequered history. Worth a Google.
Went to Great Y last year, or as our satnav put it 'GT Yarmouth'. The beach is impressive but where we stayed was as rough as rough can be. I think there is quite a lot of poverty there, as there is in many seaside towns.
Great episode, the Thames Estuary is our main sailing turf, but to be fair with AIS. Ramsgate is a favourite including a fantastic running course from the marina to Pegwell Bay.
We have always wanted to sail into London, that would be nice. We are getting AIS fitted in the next couple of weeks. Ramsgate is super nice, lovely sailing area ⛵⛵
@@TheSailingBrothers , forget London for now and extend that Atlantic adventure to the States. You’ll not find better sailing than my old home turf in New England. Keith
Hi Guys, Your video diaries are coming up thick and fast, thank God, I recon we all need some fun in life. I noticed the life-person on the GY pier is a girl without a life jacket on...... You are so right about he fickleness of weather. I just puts pay to the best laid plans, as does butter on your cushion! How do you explain that away. I have you thought of selling your videos to Channel 5. If they can make stars out of a family of fell farmers I'm sure they can of you. Just as a mater of interest do HMG know half the electricity supply for the UK is in the North Sea. Keep it all up and welcome to the final furlong. PS Thanks for showing the sail configuration, great and useful.....David
Thanks David, we all need a bit of lighthearted entertainment in this day and age. Selling our videos to channel 5 🤔😁👌👌. There are so many wind farms on the North sea, not surprised it produces a lot of the UK's electricity. Everyone needs a butter cushion in their life 😁 thanks for your comment David
Fantastic bow vedio! Aren't sunrises the best after a night cruising! It's September 6 here in America. Where's your boat Adam and Luke? Fair Winds!⛵🇺🇸
Hey dudes, came across your channel about a week ago... finally caught up with the latest episode (dont tell my boss im watching at work). Great to see your channel and hope to bump into you on the big wet wobbly stuff someday! All the best.
Loved this video today lads, it keeps you on your toes with all those ships around. I didn't realise they had sandy beaches down South. How is the upgrade to Atlas coming on.
We have pretty much ordered everything now just waiting for deliveries. We have had to have a new prop shaft made as ours has cracked 😔 hopefully they won't be too long making it
Great video guys :) I hope you will spoil us with lots of videos as you prepare for your Atlantic voyage. I have a question regarding water. Will you be carrying water in bottles & collecting rain water? I am guessing that a water maker may be impractical as they aint cheap & require electricity to use?
Hi Lee, we are filming all of the repairs maintenance etc. Yes we are carrying water bags and drums and yes we will be collecting rainwater. A watermaker is out of the question, they use too much electricity and are very bulky
Thanks guys, another great episode. Sailing through the london array wind farm is pretty spectacular. Are you going to fit a shower for your Atlantic trip or just swim off the boat when it’s calm and no wind, or just bathe on deck in the rain squalls?
Did you anchor off the south breakwater and leave the boat while you both went ashore by dinghy? If so, where did you leave the dinghy? I've been to Ramsgate Marina several times - never occurred to me to anchor off. I'll definitely try it next time. Great video, thanks!
That's correct we anchored off the south breakwater. We took the tender just around the corner, there's a couple of little beeches perfect place for landing, 5-minutes tender ride. Lovely anchorage if there's no swell
