If you are using an m.2 drive it can disable some of the sata ports on the motherboard in some cases so make sure to check for that if you don’t see drives showing up.
Every chipset has a predetermined number of sata ports and M.2 slots that it can support. The motherboard shouldn’t have more ports than it can support. If it isn’t showing up in Windows, make sure it’s showing up in your bios. If it isn’t then make sure the power and sata data cable are connected properly. Then once you get into Windows you need to use disk management to partition the drive (to avoid future pain i would advise just making it all one partition and not multiple smaller ones). This has to be done for almost any drive though, not just sata

HELP, i have a m.2, and an ssd. my m.2 is fully functional. My ssd is showing up in bios AND device manager disc drives, BUT IT IS NOT showing up in the create and format partitions.
So right now I’m using the plug of sata to usb and I have the ssd running fine that way, I wanted to plug it directly into the motherboard like the way you showed, I ordered a data cable from amazon and hooked the sata cable of the psu to it, it ran verrryyyy slowwww and windows was unusable, I tried to change the sata port and the sata cable used two times and its the same.. what can I do? SSD faster than hard drive. Harddrive better for mass storage. So basically if you just want speed M.2 SSD. If you want mass storage hard drive. If you want middle ground. SSD I just take is as. Bigger it physically is slower it is also just with how its connected is like the real reason. M.2 are directly into the mother board so. are fastest.
Hard drives are cheap. SSD are fast. Don't use hard drives for anything but storing things away you access occasionally, like movies or downloads or backups. SSD are for anything you use all the time, like the operating system or games. SSD have limited writes, they will wear out so you can't write to them eventually. Hard drives don't wear out, but can break more easily from mechanical stresses like vibration or dropping. Remember to back up your data in any case.

I just built a PC and transferred all the data from the laptop to the PC but now it isn’t showing my new SSD but the prior laptop drive. The SSD shows in my device manager as but not under the partition list and I am unable to install games to the SSD.

Change it at boot menu in boot priority.select your win 11 SSD as the #1 priority and then boot it

WD Green is a terrible drive. Avoid ANY WD/SanDisk SATA drives. Use something like KIOXIA TC10 or Crucial MX500 instead.
