This AAPI Heritage Month I wanted to do something special to uplift Asian voices so I'm doing a series of Thrift Flip Challenges with some of my fellow Asian Sewists and first up is Joanne Sunny K @joannesunnyk ♥️ Joanne is a Korean American sustainable designer and she makes the most beautiful one of a kind pieces!
Thrift Flip Challenge Rules: $10 budget to thrift one or multiple items that we have to flip into a new outfit. In this video, Joanne sent me a very dated two piece set and a little bit of trim to upcycle. I was really inspired by vintage playsuits and ended up making this matching set! I'm really proud of this one because I figure out how to make shorts that look like a mini skirt! Make sure you check out Joanne's video to see what I sent her and what she turned it into!

Love this series. I like how different people come up with such different ideas when faced with unusual supplies.
If you have the time, I would love a video (or recommendations) for French seams, lining, hiding raw edges, and everything you do to make garments look more neat and polished. It can be hard to find tutorials for those basics that involve actual garment construction and not just sewing two rectangles together.
