That bit about the door was so interesting! Love hearing about a bit of the history. I love these home videos so much because you two are so realistic about timelines. I feel so overwhelmed when I see people move in and do a complete reno. It just doesn't seem to be the status quo to be able to do it all at once. Just wanted to pop in and say how much I appreciate you two and can't wait to watch this all unfold in the years to come! xo
We had a similar dry wall in our main bathroom. Our builder made an amazing storage space out of it and I keep the babies bath tub etc in it. Its definitely worth it having nice storage in the bathroom, especially with kids. You will have at some point so many different little baskets with kids medication, baby care, extra towels etc.
The house looks so beautiful, absolutely love it ❤ And I'd say, go for the secret door!! we have one in our kitchen that leads to the pantry and a toiletroom. Everyone that ever visited us, LOVES it and so do we!

Woo hoo! dark wood for the win! Honestly, its a lot of work to do it right. My family painted their banisters white (same detail levels as yours) and its had rubbed off, is chipping and just looks grubby. You'd have to sand off all the gloss before painting which could damage the carvings. It also looks like you could split the rubber plant into two pots, having two main branches!
The shelving thing in the nursery could be transformed into a changing table/storage for extra diapers, wipes and baby essentials for making a diaper change station.
Yaaasss about the Victorian doors Anna, we heard this too and have the same thing in ours. I love little quirks like that. Lovely to see your bedrooms, we had terrible render and have just had ours redone and it is honestly transformative!

Just a question (I've never owned a house) is it really the best idea to be drying clothes in a room with really bad damp? I dry my clothes in my student room because I have no other choice and our landlord told us we shouldn't because of mold and damp
You are right. In Switzerland, we love to air the room/ flat/ house. Opening as many windows as possible for a few minutes at least 3 times a day. Once I have moved, I received a flyer explaining that. And it does make sense, especially when you are drying stuff inside.
In the family bathroom with the nice tub, the sinck (an originel?) Love the one has a a bit art-deco feeling. Is so gorgeous. Are you both planning to keep that or are you thinking for something els? I was just thinking (just before you said from wall to wall & a secret door) i thought "oh if they gonna do closetspace in their bedroom, it would be so cool if they do it on the wall to the bathroom and not only from wall to wall but also from floor to ceiling and over the doorspace and leaf that space open for books or so" Really thought that, just not about secret door 🤷🏻♀️ 😁
The secret room door is a great idea, but not before you do the bathroom... If you get a very nice custom door and it is ruined by a renovation you will probably be extremely upset and out of a decent chunk of change
It's relatively easy to switch the doors to open the other way. We were told it was because in fancy homes with servants the maid or whoever would stand behind to open the door for the people of the house. And then it just became standard even for less fancy homes! Not sure how true that is!
