Your revelations are poignant and heartfelt and your love for your family shines through in every video you do. I feel blessed to "know you" through your videos. I watched your channel on the TV and it is not by accident that I came across it. God has called me as a prayer warrior and He has put it in my heart to intercede for your family. Our grand daughter has Autism and I also have a number of autoimmune issues including Fibromyalgia. I am retired now but I worked with children with Autism in the school system for years. I understand what you are going through so sister in the Lord I have your back in prayer. God grant to strength ,wisdom, and great favor in getting the correct assistance with the boys. You are on overload and stress brings on flare ups. So daily I will lift your family before the throne of our loving God.

God allowed this to come to your attention and I praise God for those who will give of themselves to pray for us, and for me as I navigate all these things while I'm not feeling strong physically. Oops, has autism, he is now 24 years old and is a gentle giant, very smart, like your boys r and has been a joy to watch grow up.. I do stand amazed at what he can do, God is so good, so I would say that u and your family has been double blessed.. sometimes we just have to stand back and see the glory of God , and how He works . You all r and will be in my prayers, love u sweet lady, I thought that u looked so beautiful ♥️🌹
Doris, you always say the sweetest things 💕 and I can always count on your encouragement and prayers. I am so surprised at the number of friends here who also have children or grandchildren with autism. I'm encouraged to hear that your nephew has had a full life! I believe my twins will also have a great quality of life, with God's help in directing us. They're entirely precious to me! I thank God for them! 🙌

@@marlacainraisingcain See if you can find ABA therapist that comes to the home a couple times a week. Sometimes ABA gets a negative wrap, as some therapist are too focused on eliminating behavior rather than building skills. But, a good therapist can help redirect behaviors AND build skills. SO the work will be finding the right therapist for the twins. Interview a hand full and ask about their methods and philosophies, etc. The last thing you want is for the boys to hate it and/or regress. I believe a lot of insurance plan cover ABA therapy so you might want to check on that.
@@marlacainraisingcain Also, everyone has their opinions, as you know. So lots of prayer for wisdom and discernment. ABA might be awesome for some and not for others, as with any therapy. You just have to find what works for the boys.

I had my son on a leash when he was 2-4ish because I'm a disabled, single mom and my son found it amusing to just start sprinting into a parking lot, toward a busy street, or down the road 3 blocks before you can catch up to him... I'm in a wheel chair and there was NO WAY that I could catch him in that case. So, for his safety, I had to do it as well! Let people judge, because they don't know what you're going through or what your reasons for doing that are... You're a wonderful grandma and I just love your crafts ❤❤❤ keep doing what you're doing and keeping those sweet boys safe!

Marla, the Tupperware container is for celery storage in the fridge. There was a young man with autism in school with my children at Southside High School. He was in the band and played varied instruments in the percussion section. He was well thought of and loved! I think all the family was involved in fundraising, such as racing a car that had autistic painting on the sides, that typically would show a business' advertisement. I know you are needed right now, but with your autoimmune issues you could land yourself at the doctor's office or worse in bed. Your sweet angels would not have you when they might need you. Not trying to preach but I am in some of your health issues and have to remember I can only do so much. I know with His grace you will be cared for, just don't get in His way! I had to stay with my baby granddaughters when they were young and I totally understand where you are coming from. It's like living in a Petrie dish. They catch everything and graciously pass it on to all of the family. I miss them terribly.

Hello, I’m new to your channel and I’m spending time watching your videos. I am the grandmother of two grandchildren with autism. Both of my youngest daughter’s children have autism. Her daughter is high functioning but her son is nonverbal and is now in residential living. My daughter has been a mama bear getting her children into the right schools and to get them all the services they need and are entitled to. Please tell your daughter not to give up when she gets no for an answer! It’s a never ending battle. Sending prayers.

My grandson has Asperger. He also Hyper! He is in the high end of it. He is very smart, but sometime he has anger spurts. But he is doing fine, he is 19 years old, and in his second year in college. So things will be ok, Praying for you all! He prefers to be with adults rather than kids his on age, and has been that way every since he was born!
That's awesome, Jennie, that he is living a life with meaningful accomplishments and good relationships! We very much wonder how our boys will be at that age. They're very happy now, and pray they'll always feel they have a good life ❤️ 😊
@@marlacainraisingcain I am sure they will. DJ is majoring in music, and he plans on being a band director. He has been in and since he was in the 5th grade. He is now going to North Greenville University,but in January he is transferring in South Carolina University! I have been teasing him he just transferring because he wants to be in the Macy’s Thanksgiving parade. He told me the other night he would not be at Thanksgiving but I could watch him on tv!

I was 58 when my 21 yo daughter was diagnosed and I diagnosed myself along with her. What a difference it has made for both of us!! I wonder how my childhood might’ve been different if they knew back then what they do now. I also have OCD.😮🙄 I cut myself much more slack than I used to!! It isn’t something that anyone needs healing from, just how to manage our own particular quirks. I know tell people that I’m am not the person with problems, this world is!!! And that is true!! This world is full up with low functioning neurotypical people. Neurodiverse people are the glue that holds the world together.
I am amazed at the exceptional intelligence in our twins! They think of things and do things that I've never thought of before, and we can already tell our lives are richer for having them. I guess it was super validating for both you and your daughter to get a "this is why" to so many questions you've had. It equips us to manage so much better when we know what we are dealing with! We are teaching our granddaughters (the twins' cousins) how to deal with their different behavior. We've told them that the twins have a different way of thinking, and we can help them learn to connect with us by being patient and kind. The layers of wisdom that we are seeing is unlimited! I mean the wisdom in how we should interact with everyone, not just our twins! We can't assume we know what mindset anyone is coming from.

Autistic children are quite intelligent...it's very social. I am an associate(paraprofessional) teacher at an elementary school. I see it daily. There are not enough of us to deal with as many one on one needs as there are in so many districts. Part of it is the pay......they really need to reevaluate the important role we play in a classroom and how much we actually are required to do. We actually live financially below poverty level when it comes to the pay grade. But those of us that do it do it because we love what we do and are good at it.
My daughter, the twins' mom, is a 3rd grade teacher, and one of my sons in law teaches middle school history. For the work they put into teaching, their salary should be much higher. A higher salary would mean more competition for teaching jobs, and that would mean the better teachers would get the positions available. Having Lauren as a teacher helps us see both sides of the equation!
My oldest granddaughter also has autism and we didn't get a diagnosis until she was almost 4! It was a real struggle as she spoke her own language that no one else understood. So frustrating! She is now a teenager and is much more "normalized" and is a true joy to be around, although she still has her own little special personality! Keep working with the boys!
Ellen, that is such an encouragement to know that your family learned along with her how to help her cope in a "normal" world! Our boys are a joy, and we look forward to being able to communicate better with them as time goes on. Dean never stops talking, but it's more factual and less social for now. I am super curious for Ridge to let us know more what he's thinking and feeling! For now, Ridge's best way to connect is physical touch. I relish it! Nothing sweeter than to have him come sit beside me (or on top of me) and just "be."
Aspergers spunds like your grandsons... They are exceptional, I have a close friend whose son is on the spectrum, he is an adult now, but when her was 4 he began reading a Thesaurus,a doctionary AND the King James Bible. He carried these 3 books everywhere he went.. You need to afvocate for them, but I know with their mama being an educator, the boys are as cute as can be and as unique as God created them....
Thank you for that encouragement, Robin! 😊 ❤️ We are learning more as we go along. Our doctor told us that diagnoses of Aspberger's is no longer being given. Now they say it's all on the autism spectrum. Dean has very high functioning, and Ridge has equal intelligence but less verbal communication. Dean talks nonstop, which made it hard for us to be sure if he was on the spectrum or not. I appreciate hearing from friends who have had personal interaction and experiences to share!
I’m only 4 minutes in and had to send you a hug. When my son was in 4th grade the school told me he had Asperger’s….It felt like everything that made him quirky, fun and different (in a good way) they were telling me was because of a disorder. It was one of the hardest things to wrap my head around because like you said….he was NOT less than. And still isn’t. 😊

Dean sounds just like my grandson ,on the spectrum. High functioning yet all over the place lol. Also had to get his own aid.
We've yet to find out what is available to Dean. In my mind, an aide to help him personally seems like the best solution! He wants to be in the classroom and needs to see other children's behavior to help him learn what's expected of him.
