    Hi everyone!
just want to add a few things. We ended the interview on the negative side of being a CRA and I do want to put something into perspective. Because it may have come across as if it’s literally impossible to meet all the expectations of the job.
The math with 9 days on site equals 171 hours a month only applies of you flew back and forth from home each and every time. So don’t do that. Part of planning your work as a CRA obviously entails planning your trips in a way that makes the most sense for you. If you do 3 monitoring visits back to back, start with your most eastern site and move on to your more western sites…
    a) the hours you would be flying home are now used to fly to the next site, so your average travel time per visit is cut significantly
    b) time zone changes are now working FOR you, so you may arrive in your next city late, local time, but for you it may be an hour or two earlier, coming from a more eastern time zone
    c) that time on a plane can be used to complete other tasks, so you can use those hours “twice”
    d) then, IF you have your stuff organized, you WILL be able to complete your remaining tasks in the remaining time.
    e) now you can enjoy the Camaro while driving to the hotel with the corner bedroom on the 15th floor. Oh! and don’t forget to order food with the GrubHub app (of course, you filter for only the restaurants rated four stars plus) and enjoy delicious meals everywhere you go.
So - if you’re organized, it’s not all that bad.
Lastly, use your airline miles, bonus rental car days and free hotel room stays as you wish! ;-)

After being a CRA in China for two years, I went back to school for Master in Pharmacology. Right now as I am gonna to graduate soon, while I am looking for a CRA position in Melbourne. It's nice that you created this channel talking with CRA specialist.

Sure, when I work as CRA in Pharmaceutical company, I actually also did some work about clinical trials design and prepare files for IND. However, I decided to quit my job for two reasons, one is I would like to have a chance to be involved in more medical work in the future, the other is I got paid low just because of my bachelor degree.

You also have to prepare for audits and regulatory inspections and don't forget the 1 to 2 hours of TCS.

I love the points guy. I have been following him forever. There are definitely ways to be able to see the places that your in as well as monitor there. For example scheduling a visit the next day after a holiday and fly there a few days before. Sometimes there are multi day visits as well, or they want you to go to the site for a week etc.

    • @danielregut4096
      @danielregut4096 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Absolutely true, good points. ;-)
If you go early during holidays your company won't be paying the extra hotel day(s), though. But then again, with the points you gather, that doesn’t necessarily mean you’re paying any money for that either.
I usually don’t have more than 2 days on site on the projects I’m on. And then I’ll often be spending the rest of the first day with follow up to other stuff at the hotel. But if you have a week, absolutely. Use the time and check out the city you’re in!
I should add, that with a family, I’ve never aimed at expanding the time in the cities I’ monitoring in, as I try to get back home asap.
So, yes, if you want to, those are good ways to add even more perks to the Job!

Daniel Regut for sure and who knows you may have family to stay with or friends. But I appreciate your perspective on the role. What about scheduling visits for a Monday and flying to the destination early Sunday so you have the day to do stuff there, could that work also?

Acoustic Silk sure, that’s a possibility. The only caveat: I’d be careful about setting a precedent that you’re willing to travel on your weekends - it may come back to bite you, i.e. be harder to set that personal boundary in the future 😉

Thank you so much, guys! I thought it was smth wrong w me as I was getting overloaded w extra work & overwhelmed as CRA. I think it's a huge disconnect btw the management & working CRAs on how much time & effort everything takes. And it's everywhere!

Jesus, that description sounds soul draining and impossible at times. I wonder what the #'s are on stimulant abuse for this industry. What type of personalities are the best fit for this? I'm wondering as a recent MSc graduate in a life science field that wants to move away from the bench.

Finish the site monitoring visit report on-site??? I would have said your quality must be poor as hell, but since you show some competence on your channel here, you have to be a torpedo... respect.

I’m probably just lucky with 2 good sites. Ssv reports take me a lit longer however
