    Your skill shows compared to other B2-maidens with no PIO or anything. Great flying! Great model and happy that MotionRC/Freewing makes these kind of models that takes the hobby further. Is there anyone else than me that thinks the pilots are massively out of scale?

      Thank you very much Tobias! I think our approaches will get better still...just need more stick time on it. Motion makes some cool stuff for sure. You might be right...the pilots may be out of scale...

    I'll tell you what Adam, that thing looks spooky scary up against that grey overcast! What a great video, and I really like the description and commentary leading up to the flight in that you talked your way through how to set one of these unique birds up. I'm glad I was able to get you and Brent together and talking; he's a treasure trove of info and skill, and the fact that Rodger was actually part of the full scale project is just amazing! You did fantastic on the sticks, and man, does that plane look like it wants to land super hot! Great job by all, happy landings my friend!

      Thank you brother! Thanks for the Brent hook up as well buddy. He is a great guy. Interesting plane for sure...glad Carl bought one! I think I will get it slower as we get it dialed in more. Brent had some good advise for approaches after watching the video.

    Great video Adam. I’m not particularly interested in this plane but love the way you explain your approach to taking on each project. Even with your skill and knowledge about RC airplanes, I like how you research, use and recommend other pilot’s knowledge. I gain a lot of knowledge from your videos and appreciate you recommending these TH-cam sites to help us even more. Thanks.

    What a stellar presentation and a surprise visit by cousin Bubba! It's apparent this model is way above my pay grade and I am Blessed to have Adam to turn to. Having been a Naval Aviator, my love of warplanes is a driving force with this hobby. Naval aircraft have a special place in my heart, so why the B2? Unique, technical, challenging, eye catcher and the fact that I have one special resource and friend in the hobby, Adam Gault. In my 45+ year flying career and hobby experience, Adams knowledge of anything that flies is unsurpassed. His videos speak for themselves. I look forward to tackling flying this iconic model, with a little help from my friend...

    I missed seeing this earlier, but I am impressed how much 'homework' you had to do to make things right so you could proceed with a successful maiden flight. And that flying was fantastic! I thought the fog added so much realism that this seemed to be one of the most authentic looking scale flights I have ever seen. To me, looking through various levels of fog that you had made my eyes / mind think I was seeing a full size that was actually a few miles away at times. You may want to watch for another foggy morning to try another realistic scale flight some time. I'll bet a spitfire or hurricane would look good boring a hole through some of that British fog! (What the heck, any allied plane that operated out of Britain in WW II would be just fine.) Roger

    • @ModelAV8RChannel
      @ModelAV8RChannel  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks very much man! Yeah this one was work, and the one downside to the fog is you can be literally out of sight in a second. I agree that a Spitfire would look fantastic in the fog. Heck, a Spitfire looks good no matter what its doing! For me...easily the most beautiful plane ever made. Reginald Mitchell was a genius.

    I thought Bubba's sales pitch had a certain 'rustic' charm! 😂 Adam, this is surely one of the most ambitious RC models out there, so kudos to those (like yourself) who've de-bugged it for others. Dam your a good rc pilot! maidens are so stressful with expensive planes. Especially when trying out new equipment. I maidened my viper 90 last week with a new brand of battey I haven't used. After losing my 70 the month before, I was almost shaking from the nerves. But it flew flawlessly. You never know what can happen! The possibility of hurting someone is real. Something as simple as a lose pin on a battery lead could take you down.

    • @ModelAV8RChannel
      @ModelAV8RChannel  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you Jake. The nerves diminish a lot as you get more experience usually. It is a neat plane for sure. Awesome to hear your Viper maiden went well! Congrats my friend!

    • @jakeclauson9863
      @jakeclauson9863 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@ModelAV8RChannel you weren't nervous to fly that thing? It's probly less pressure if you have enough space. Plus I'm sure you'd be able to replace it fairly easily. Even if they were still available Id have to save up for a while to get another. But I have several planes now and never really got nervous until the viper 90. Also using a new kind of battery that I had no experience with didn't help with such a power hungry plane. But after finding my viper 70 in a tree in someone's front yard 10ft from their house and pointing directly at their front doorstep, my eyes were opened very wide to the possibilities. Even tho I'm hundreds of yards away from houses I was still paranoid about hurting someone or something. Those vipers will cover some ground, even with no power. It ended up over half a mile from where I started. All because of a cheap battery connector. But my nervous paranoia is gone now that I know it works right, at least until the next time I lose a plane 😝

I could tell that Airframe requires exactly the right blend of ideal airspeed and throttle finesse to land smoothly, IMO. I think the grey skies are cool, the B2 blends in, good condtions for stealth attack mission, eh? That Bird looks wickedly scale. Great job, Adam! I greased mine in on the mains but I don’t know if I dropped the elevator too fast but when the nose touched it went up and came down on the nose gear. Ripped it out of the plane. I do love this plane though.

    • @ModelAV8RChannel
      @ModelAV8RChannel  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Dang Jonathan hate to hear that. It is easy to do with a Wing...the gear is in such close proximity. If it bounces at all you have to nail it and go around. Once the bouncing starts there is no saving that landing...thankfully a buddy warned me of this and I was ready to go around. Hope it is an easy fix and you get her going soon!

    Hi. Thanks again for this video because you covered the gyro direction issue at the 10 minute mark that I had today. Gyro was not moving the elevators in the correct direction and that put a halt to my maiden. Two people on the MotionRC Facebook group referred me back here and I see you and Hecht Speed had the same issue and the gyro does work as it should in actual flight. So, maiden may be tomorrow.
    Side note, the current models are now using the same gryo as the F14 64mm. So, setting are now auto-level, basic gain, and gyro off. In the off setting, control surfaces still follow their mixes.

    Pretty awesome Adam, Well now i know why the guys knocked the gear off the one at our club. even you having a time with landing. It just looks like it fly heavy and to me slow but didn't know it was a 8 pound plane.. Cool to understand how the " rudders" work now I had no clue those were even considered rudders. that is some mixing going on for sure.. That one didn't seem to have the oscillation that i have seen in the other 2 I have seen fly.
    Another great video.

    • @ModelAV8RChannel
      @ModelAV8RChannel  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks Chris! There seems to be some inconsistent programming going on. Read some different results as well. Its not that hard to land I don't think, just need to find the throttle sweet spot and set up a proper rate of decent. We can do better with a bit more stick time.

    Its not expensive if you consider it. The only B2 you can get right now that may fly is the carf. There are no other B2 on the market that are not trash. Its a nice scale and twin. If they charged a 1000 for the aircraft it would still be a deal as you cannot get a good flyable B2 right now at a decent price. I really enjoy mine and she is smooth as can be.

    • @ModelAV8RChannel
      @ModelAV8RChannel  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Scott you make good points, and they apply to the other opinion on it - it is a good looking, good flying example of a rarely modeled plane...so worth every penny. I agree if a B-2 is one of those planes you really want. On the other hand they know its rare and they have the only affordable one out there worth having, and they ask that much because they know people will pay it - even though there are examples of planes with essentially the same components for much less (Xfly J65). Price is always a key point with any new plane, and I chuckle at folks on forums that get in to intense arguments about pricing...the truth is everyone is right. Its simply matter of perspective, opinion, and the one that always counts the most is our own...Lol. In the end if we are all enjoying them...thats all that matters! Happy flying!

    • @ModelAV8RChannel
      @ModelAV8RChannel  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks David! It was an interesting experience setting this one up. Apparently the control boards and gyros are not all programmed the same way in every example...results have varied. That is Ga. Jets RC club. We film there some...really a big, nice place to let one eat! Our other club is really tight with a bumpy geo-textile runway. Given the B-2's propensity to easily wind up in a PIO situation I wanted a really smooth runway for the maiden.

    Thanks for this video. Its a really helpful one. One question. If your on final and think you're coming in too fast, will the B2 decend with a nose high attitude (like an F16) to bleed of some speed? Not sure how not having a true vertical rudder would affect that. On the fence of getting one and landing are what always concerns me.

    • @ModelAV8RChannel
      @ModelAV8RChannel  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Glad it was helpful. It will, but not at the angle of attack you can get away with flying an F-16. Power on approaches are better and a lot of my issue was cutting the power too soon.

    Sir I designed it to fly without engine ON just like a glider and also land without engine ON
    I also designed it to land on water and float like a boat
    Engine is only required to propell take off
    When true goose lays it's golden egg
    People will also discover that I designed it to have alternate energy sources especially solar power
    The fuselage is supposed to be solar panels
    The power configuration is supposed to be regenerative
    Yes sir the truth is said to be stranger than fiction
