I have been dancing for close to a year. Still single. As a single parent, I don't think I have time to fit in another hobby. Ideas how to meet a quality man ?
Ideal Guy=authentic, ambitious, up front with intentions, patient, has their act together (thanks for adding that one), our goals are aligned, monogamous, likes a good movie night, good conversations, accepts me for me, open to a forever love. Been single for 5 solid years, and am waiting for green flags

Jonathon I’m glad you’ve decided to go out there and find someone IRL. They’re also less likely to even have a date site account. Therefore, more likely to want to work with someone, not running back to an account to swipe and find someone new.
My ideal guy has done a lot of work on himself. I can tell by his communication style. He self reflects a lot and they lean in when I talk about my own process.
Being clear= honesty. Or being brave enough to save ‘I don’t know’. Someone who owns their stuff!!!!!
My ideal guy has high integrity and is loyal to a fault. Successful and established in his field but can balance work with family equally.

It seems like everyone complains about not meeting quality people over 40. I would like to mention, these are the same people who they would be dating 20 years ago. These people have not changed, they just aged and maybe experienced adult traumas. We are still dating the same people only at different phase in our lives. Everyone complains, but nobody does anything to better themselves. We as society have no dating or relationship skills. Jonathon, thank you for educating us and pointing out the real issues. Great job!

I didn't realize Marie actually broke up with you - I can understand where she is coming from because I moved to Miami, Florida to be with an ex-boyfriend and had no friends here. I was depressed and had to leave and go back to Washington DC where I use to live -have my tribe and work. I know this sounds negative, but long-distance relationships are doomed to fail unless there are serious compromises.
She went in with the best intentions and she had hoped it would be different. We gave it a good shot and she even said, she's making room for the right woman for me.

"Trying too hard" could be translated into "forcing the relationship." It's a distrust in the natural process of connection. If there's true connection, it truly can't be dismissed if both parties are not avoidant (so you can loosen your internal grip and fear, and instead trust the connection will unfold and will not go away). That distrust and having had many experiences of "lack" (of connection) carries the energy of desperation and discouragement.
"Forcing the relationship," then, means you really don't feel connection, but you see the potential of connection; you see someone who you would *like* to be connected with.
You, Jonathon, don't have to "try" very hard in a relationship because you already know yourself, know what you want, and you naturally work to grow and learn, and you already naturally have to give what is needed for a close relationship. This is a discovery I've made about myself anyway.

It sucks if your the dumper too. I had to tell Eddie he had to go due to him sexting other women behind my back. It immediately sent me into feeling numb. I think he’s a bit of a player. He was devastated at me but I felt I couldn’t trust him. So we had trust issues, both of us. This was a year 1/2 ago. We’re still friends and he calls me everyday even though he has a new gf, just confuses me. I just need a new man.
I had a feeling it was Marie who dumped you as i could tell from the videos when she and you were on, you were much more emotionally involved than she was. There was not that connection. of both...I feel lonely a lot ,but still like myself .
