I'm Jason, a full-time British Travel Vlogger and TH-camr who's been to 55 countries. I've been travelling around the world full-time since 2017. So far, my trips have taken me to Asia, Africa, Europe, the Middle East and the Americas.
I have travel series' from many of the world's best (and least) known destinations. I filmed the first vlogs on my channel in the summer of 2016 after spending a year living in China. A proper solo trip around Eastern Europe followed after graduating from University in the summer of 2017, taking me to Hungary, Romania, Bulgaria, North Macedonia and Kosovo. This trip marked the start of my efforts to make a TH-cam full-time job.
After that European trip I went heavily into exploring Asia, visiting India, Bangladesh, Malaysia, Indonesia, Singapore, Vietnam, Cambodia, Thailand, Pakistan, the Philippines, South Korea and Kazakhstan (seeing me cover a lot of Far East and Southeast Asia in particular).
I have also travelled to North Africa and the Middle East fairly extensively over the last five years, filming videos in Turkey, Algeria, Tunisia, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Kuwait, Iraq, Jordan, Israel and Palestine.
To date, I have not yet been to Australasia or South America. Though I am hoping to visit the latter sometime in 2022, along with a first stop in the Caribbean.
I've travelled to North America just once as a TH-camr, visiting Mexico in 2021. Though I have been to both the USA and Canada, this was as a child on family holidays.
So far in 2022, I've taken my first trip to Sub Saharan Africa, visiting both Kenya and Tanzania, before heading to the Middle East, stopping in Dubai and Lebanon. Europe followed, covering both the Greek and Turkish sides of Cyprus, and afterwards going back to Italy for the second time to cover Milan and Sicily. In the summer I visited the Caribbean for the first time, spending over a month in the Dominican Republic, before stopping in Belgium on my way home.
After shooting some videos in Taiwan, I made my way to the Philippines for the second time. I finished 2022 by filming a series of videos in Morocco.

As a 21 year old man I went to Morocco for a day trip from Algeciras and instead stayed 2 months traveling all over Morocco, Algeria, and Tunisia. In many ways Fez was my favorite, especially the old university. It's now 50 years later and my memories of the people, places, food, music and the beautiful friendly campground in Fez where I stayed for 50 US cents per night are still fresh.
Algeria, Tunisia, Mauritania and Libya were subordinate to the rule of the Moroccan Empire Before the French occupation entered
You brought me back my beautiful memories about this beautiful city. When I stayed in Fes, I also stayed at the medina,and had a very authentic experience. Loved it ❤

Awesome video, great choice of music to set up the ambience and bring back the amazing memories of not only Fez, but Marrakesh, Morocco and all of North Africa which I not only hitch-hiked as a long haired hippie in 1973 (in fact it was a time when Moroccan authorities refused entry to the long haired hippies and I was one of them, I had to cut off around eight inches of my hair to get into the country) but I returned again in 1981 as an international photographic model on an assignment for a German clothing company (working with the then young Kathy Ireland who became a celebrity Sports Illustrated model) in cities such as Marrakesh, Rabat, Casablanca, Fez and Tangiers. From staying in camping grounds as a hippie to staying in international hotels as a model certainly allowed me to enjoy the contrasts of this most amazing of countries and having been a long term international traveller this country certainly ranks highly as a country to spend time in. I really enjoy how you film your videos and having watched them for a number of years now I am definitely travelling again vicariously through them. There is certainly something amazing about travelling through Moslem countries and you have certainly been to many, their history is spectacular. Do you intend going to places like Samarkand and Bukara etc in your future travels?
I always love reading your travel stories. I absolutely would love to visit Uzbekistan and more countries in Central Asia, especially Mongolia. I’m waiting for the weather to warm up - think it’s a bit cold currently.

Great video of Fez Medina, Jason. Having been there, I’m amazed how well you were able to navigate on your own. For me its immenseness was maze-like with so any twists and turns that getting lost seem inevitable. I also was amazed that it is home to 250,000 people. And I was delighted to discover that the oldest university you showed the golden gates of was founded by a woman. Morocco is one of my favorite countries, and I look forward to returning there for a third time. Best, Sylvia

Even though the Medina has become used to tourism in recent years and the shops are more geared to it, it remains fascinating how the Medina was created and seems almost unchanged over the centuries. It is definitely the most authentic city in the country!
We stayed at an very large Riad on AirBNB located maybe 600m from Bab RCIF. It was much more residential, earthy and complex than the areas you filmed. We had to take several photos and really pay super close attention to make our way home. We still got lost in the maze of alleys multiple times. Great experience no place in the world compares.

I love Fez, have visited there from Atlanta 4 times, and will return this March. You're exactly right about the touts - or men looking for an easy mark (This will NEVER be a female). The way you carry yourself means much as predators are always looking for easy prey.
I admire your ability to navigate the alleys on your own. I've always used a local guide. I have piece of mind, and a valued asset makes money.
The culture and temperament of the Moroccans make crowded alleys and squares easy to appreciate.
Thanks, I suppose it’s part and parcel of the ‘Fes experience’. As long as people are aware of it, then they can do their best to deal with the situation as it arises and not fall into the trap. The alleys aren’t easy and I’d probably recommend a guide to people who don’t feel confident.

Morocco is still a pure magic, despite the fact that now it becomes more spoiled with crowds of average travellers comparing to what I've seen here first in 2013 (by saying "spoiled" I mean that 7-8 years most of sightseeings were available at 10-20dh, while now it is 70-100dh, while rate to Euro is the same, the most disctracting impact I've seen is yoga studios for crowds like in Bali, but it was in Kech, while I hope that other cities remain still authentic). Fes is the only place I've felt lost in previous centuries
Totally agree. Tourism hasn’t spoilt its unique charm and history - aside from the occasional hustler.

I recall 20 years ago standing on that balcony overlooking the tannery on a very hot day and the smell still resonates today as I recall stuffing as much mint in my nostrils as I possibly could. Fes was one of the most memorable cities I have EVER traveled to.

Morocco has been on my list for a long time & Even last January I went alone to Istanbul & Bodrum as there were too many restrictions on entering Morocco after covid. It is just the thought of Soooo many alleyways & streets in all the medinas that would slightly freak me out🤣.
I wish you a pleasant trip, there are many beautiful cities in Morocco, the city of Tangier and Rabat, the capital, and I advise you to visit Dakhla in the Moroccan desert, Ifrane is also considered Switzerland of Africa and many wonderful cities

Fes is probably the most awesome medina I've been to, although Tetouan in the north of Morocco runs it a close second (and Tetouan is far less touristy... although the size of Fes's medina means that there are always far more Moroccans than tourists). Azemmour's medina is similar to Fes's in its shabby picturesqueness, but on a much much smaller scale. You've been to Algeria, Jason, so I'd be interested to know how the Algiers medina compares. I'm flying to Egypt tomorrow and I need to compare it to Cairo's Islamic city, which I haven't been to for 30+ years.
The medinas of both Algiers and Ghardaia felt a lot more relaxed in comparison, despite both still being lived in. There wasn’t a presence of tourism, so it felt like day-to-day life was just passing by - and I got more stares and questions in Algeria (of the enthusiastic kind). Morocco is built on tourism, and is generally a lot more hectic, but to me it still feels authentic. Both are great.

There is a cool garden near the medina called jnan sbil
Wonderful video, i was there last november didn't have the chances to enjoy the places you saw and specially eating nice food, because I was in a tour, they rushed us and took us to restaurants catering to turists and was overcooked and pretty bland..no salt. But overall the experience was good, going to the dessert was the highlit of the trip, good shopping!

In 2020 I have booked everything to go to Morocco for 10 days: Marakesh, Fes, Meknes, Casablanka, Rabat, however, I missed the plane unfortunatelly thanks to the bus company. So I did a second booking but only for 4 days in Essaouira, amazaing old city at the coast of Atlantic Ocean. That video had a a lot of views. So did you go to Meknes and Volubilis? They are near Fes.
Sounds like an eventful/amazing trip. Unfortunately I didn’t have time for those places - but I’m sure I’ll be back in Morocco again.

I was in Fes in 2016. I too went to the university there and they told me it was the oldest on earth. I then went to Bologna, Italy where they have the oldest university on earth (1088) and I told them about Fes. They explained that Fes did not award degrees and was more of a madrassa. So you can take that for what it's worth. I still wear my black leather jacket from Fes.

Madrassa means school in arabic, it's from Alkaraouina the vatican pope stady and transfer the arabic numbers to europe. and many european stady on it. both off them are old hust be subject. alkarouine back on time give deploma as judge and medicine practice. as a muslim country give some deploma in istamic study doesn't make it a just mosque. they teach astronomy and even astrology, astrology was a sience back then.

Nalanda University was the oldest in the world. Unfortunately invaders destroyed it and burnt all the books in the library. Some records say so many books were burnt that the fire stayed on for 6 months.
Disturbed by the fact that an Indian scholar and teacher knew more than the Haqims of his own court, Khilji decided to destroy the roots of all knowledge and Ayurveda in this country. So he set fire to the Great Library of Nalanda and burned down 9 million manuscripts!
