Another fellow Georgian makes a significant contribution to humanity! Thanks for making this clear and concise video on sampling that is about to take my musical exploration to another level. 🙏🏼
Mixing is the hardest part on this cause you have to develop your ear first but the speakers are good for that because it's not so bass heavy or light to where you can't properly hear, what you hear is usually the final result in my experience using the built-in speakers. You just have to make sure you don't have the sound bleed into the red unless that's the style you want for that particular beat. I personally just mix as I go until it sounds how it does in my head, also -3db or lower helps to keep a decent mix on the MPC Live, not too loud not too quiet and just enough to hear those piercing sounds and mix it to a perfect flow and then add volume back by turning up the Master output between +1db and +2db, hope this helps some, on my channel I only use standalone mode including mixing, the videos are only recorded on the PC afterwards so you have something to watch instead of darkness
You may want to see that in hyperlapse. The process is mundane... that's why when producers do it online they have all the samples and kicks in place. Trust me if you wanted to see start to finish the producer would be playing the same parts over and over tryna get an idea on how to make it sound like something. The process is really repetitive.
Peace King. I appreciate your videos keeping things simple for me as a newbie in music production (I am a 57 year young female) from Plainfield NJ (home of P-Funk) Parliament and Funkadelic.
I just wanted to say it was so cool to read your comment Vonda! I just got my first MPC, the 37 keys and I'm searching videos on sampling. I'm a 48 year old woman. A joy to get into at any age!
Yo homie just really made me feel confident in taking the true artist route not only being a writer but producing mastering both lanes, it feels easier learning the fundamentals on sampling, chopping and tuning thank you and merry early Christmas
this is fire...I'm looking to start my channel next year...showing MPC workflows etc...I think a full vid dedicated to sampling would be dope. There's so much that goes in to it. Even down to the time stretch and warping of the sample. why to use which one and the best explanation for each...I personally use time stretch over the warping.
Sweetheart I don't know who you are but I'll tell you what , you are a lifesaver!!! Just got my machine today and I was sampling by recording audio. 😔. Only thing I would like to know is how to alter the tempo without changing the original key of the song. Tune changes the pitch. You're alright with me!🥰
Thank you I’m a very older Dj but I still am inspired to get this and do a lot of remixes of music that I own and it’s a lot of music Thank you for showing your skills . I’m now subscribed
I’ve never did sampling and chopping before, I normally play all my own instruments 🎸 like the Isley brothers, but this does look similar and fun 🤩. I could make 20 beats a day with this formula. Thanks bro 😎
Obviously you're talented! Thanks for doing this. I appreciate you! Can you do more of a screen sharing type instruction based video? I'm more of a visual learner. This will help me tremendously. Thanks for reading. Beat 🔥!
First off love your videos super inspirational, I can tell you love what you do and that gets me vibing too. I am really new to beat making and the MPC world, I just got an MPC one and a midi keyboard. Now what would be awesome to see is a series or one nice video where you take us from an empty project and at the end have a full song. intro, hook, verse, outro the entire process. your videos are the best produced and your well spoken and easy to follow. I watched and read a ton of videos already but everyone seems to skip little steps and as a newcomer to beat making and the mpc, one little step for me to figure out might take me an hour. Anyways love your videos inspirational and helpful. Thank you.
Bro! Loved your videos before and now these how to videos are gonna blow up! How bout a video using the mpc and logic pro x together…maybe your usual process or using the mpc in controller mode
🔥🔥🔥 Yo, can you make more vids like this with the MPCX? Also, do you only use stand alone mode? If not, could you show us how you work in controller mode too.
Was wondering how its done in standalone and save it as a program , and didnt knew theres a pitch in trim. Im new to it so still figuring out , but with pitching up/down i dont need to time stretch it anymore , correct ? Greeting from the netherlands
Well first off let me just start off saying amazing video I love the content and I love what you do. but I’m surprised nobody on TH-cam teaches music composition when it comes to teaching you how to sample cause I think it would be super helpful and save everyone less time and money buying records and not really understanding how to sample the record or what to look for in the song..
Great video👍…….I’m thinking of getting the One, but I’ve read that it only has 2gb of ram.Can you make a video about tips for saving memory on the MPC?
@@yayyhy Yeah for storage that would be the best option since there are only 2gb of onboard storage, but the 2gb of ram are what make me think about getting an MPC.
Use your ear. If it doesn't sound right, you can tune it by raising or lowering a few semitones and checking along in program edit. Also a nice technique to get bass that fits is just to use the eq plugin to filter highs and mids from the sample leaving just the low-end which you can then boost and theres your bass. You posted this question a while back but in case you haven't figured these techniques into your workflow or for anyone who might have not thought about it, though I would give my 2 cents. These new mpcs are amazing compared to even the classics which I'm going to be controversial and say either my old 2000xl was faulty hence this legendary soul was missing or it's overhyped as I've never been as inspired as I have been with my mpc live 2.
Usually that means you have to slow the sample down a little bit or speed up the bpm of the sequence a little bit. As long as the sample is full, just mess with one of those while the track is playing until its perfect. If that just doesnt sound right still, maybe you cut the sample off before the full 16 beats was done, so try to sample it longer then play with it.
Question , my mpc live 2 is playing back only one sample , even though I got 4 other loops recorded , it only plays back the last recorded loop regardless of what track I put it on ? This all happened when I tried to sync my old korg keyboard, any advice ?
@@GeorgiaMuscleFilms I figured it out , it was god putting me on restriction from my mpc ! I was trying to loop sequences on the tracks , I’m embarrassed, thanks for responding G
Question for you king, I'm new to MPC. Just purchased a Live. I'm having trouble loading my sampled instrumentals I downloaded, they just don't appear or preview play? Any tips on what I can do to fix this issue? I want to chop real bad..
Its a couple steps, u have to do to locate the sounds from your drive or internal sounds. I do offer 1 on 1s and I can get you up to speed in no time on your mpc. check out my website. www.georgiamuslemusic.com
@@GeorgiaMuscleFilms same lol...one thing i like about serato sample is you make the sample exactly like you want it. BPM and KEY and then save it and bring it into the MPC....I just wish serato sample had a loop feature, so that the sample would play continuously, while your trying to get a vibe. Also a regular just to record in the loop. Don't necessarily want to chop up my sample always in serato.
