We have a rabbit that is almost completely deaf, and he literally screams if he wants attention. Normally if you hear a rabbit scream it means it's in mortal fear for its life, for Stitches it means he wants his dinner or to be picked-up.
The way Donut being deaf only made them love and appreciate him even more brings tears to my eyes. So happy to see he is very much loved and apparently very spoiled too lol
Those parents are wonderful! They took the time to observe their boy and figure out that something was amiss with his hearing. And once the vet confirmed so, they worked hard to cater to his needs. I love you guys and I've never even met you!

smart vet too! ie, i imagine if we would've taken my cat to the vet he would've just checked the usual physical heath threats for cats and moved on with a check mark.

Donut has Norwegian Forest cat traits; he's floofy(fluffy) he's very active and loves the outdoors. Thank you guys for loving him and making him part of your family ❤️❤️❤️
Donut may very well have both traits. He is certainly a beautiful fur baby! My first thought was Norwegian Forest cat too. My father-in-law has a “Weegie-mix” as well & Ozzy enjoys being outdoors and around water. He’s not too fond of being IN water or getting wet, but he enjoys playing with toys that are floating in water. Blessings to you all!!

I love animals and they each have a distinct personality and talk to you with their actions and habits. I wish people would pay closer attention and learn their animals personalities and needs. In 2016 my wife and I found a little kitten in our garage. At first, she was really scared. But after multiple times leaving food for her, she finally warmed up to us and we took her into the house. She kept running into things, so we brought her to the vet, who confirmed our suspicions: she was blind. Today, Caddie is seven years old and going strong! She can go outside, roam around, and can always find her way back to the door. She can even catch mice outside (we guess she listens for them). She now has the company of four other kittens we rescued almost three years ago! Thanks to all you who do everything you can to help the helpless animals over their physical and mental problems!
A cat can use it whiskers to sense the movement of its prey. That's why they always seem to know when and in which direction an escaping mouse will run. It's absolutely fascinating to me.
She can hear the mice, and smell the mice, but mostly she uses her whiskers. Tie something, that smells like food, to the end of a string. When she's just sitting there, wiggle the food smelling thing a couple of feet above her head (using the string), and see what happens.

First, Kudos to Donut’s parents for taking him to the vet to be sure everything was fine with him. Second, keep him active to help burn off that energy. You will all sleep better at night! 😂
Maybe if they did some research before just a buying cat , they wouldn't have needed that vet visit at all. 80% of white cats with blue eyes are deaf, that the first thong comes up whne you look them up

Glad that Donut didn’t have anything seriously wrong with him but they absolutely did the right thing: the vet should always be the first stop if there’s any question about your cat’s behavior. ❤ I have one that isn’t fully deaf but is definitely hard of hearing, and it’s very helpful to know that in order to be more respectful and so I can get her used to knowing there will only be good surprises like pets and the occasional treat in bed. ❤

That said one of my cats has had progressive hearing loss that started a few years ago and would not have been evident on that first checkup. So I don’t want to assume Donut was 100% deaf at the start. It’s hard to judge from a video that’s only 5 minutes or so.
I’m willing to bet Donut is a Turkish Angora. They can be deaf. I have a female, she is not deaf, full of energy at 8 years old. This is my second Angora. Needless to say, I adore this breed. Every day is full of her joy of life and absolute devotion to her family.
He is. Angoras are the best! My Angora passed away 3 weeks ago due to renal failure :(. she only lived with me for 9 years. i miss her already but if i'm ever gonna get a cat, i will defintely get an angora 😸
My beloved Boo was a long-haired white cat, deaf like Donut. There is a genetic predisposition to deafness in white cats, especially those with blue eyes or different colored eyes. Boo had one gold eye & one blue eye. I adopted him because I had a quiet home, & he loved my other 3 cats. Boo was just gentleness & love, so pure.

I have a blind dog. I do not move furniture etc without warning him then I tap it when it's in the new and when/if I move it back. He shows me his appreciation with snuggles.

Our cat is 20 years old and still has plenty of energy. About 4 years ago he began caterwauling likely due to feline dementia. His wails remind me sometimes of Eraser Head's baby (See the Lynch film). He has and is a character.
Absolutely loved this!!! Have a very loud, stalker cat too (not deaf though, just used to getting is way). It was hysterical (and relatable), watching the sheer terror and laughter while being chased. So happy seeing Donut has such patient, fun and wonderful parents!!

I remembered a guy had a blind and deaf white dog he used the method of blowing his breath to the pup while it was sleeping and that would wake and not startle the dog. It was very sweet. It probably still is on youtube.
Was watching this on my laptop which is on a desk in front of a window. Felt like I was being stared at. I was. My outdoor kitty Penny was looking up at the window--highly on alert, tail twitching, wanting to make that strange cat stop yowling! 🙀 I had to turn the volume off. I have a blind dog. I do not move furniture etc without warning him then I tap it when it's in the new and when/if I move it back. He shows me his appreciation with snuggles.
Watching these people have so much love for this cat filled my heart today. I really needed that!

I had an all white kitty called Eric, many years ago & he was also deaf.
I found waving & large gestures with my arms helped him relate that to certain things. Maybe try that, also.

Donut is simply ADORABLE❤❤❤ He is blessed to have such good furparents like you two. Just like little Donut, my Kitty too loves to stalk and hunt us😂😂😂 its adorable when her little paw comes out of under the couch or from her playhouse😂😂😂 she loves to hide and wait and suprise pounce us..we have to pretend not to see her and call out "wheres kitty girl hidinggggg"😂😂😂 she is such a character too..top tier diva to the core.
Our cat is 20 years old and still has plenty of energy. About 4 years ago he began caterwauling likely due to feline dementia. His wails remind me sometimes of Eraser Head's baby (See the Lynch film). He has and is a character.
Absolutely loved this!!! Have a very loud, stalker cat too (not deaf though, just used to getting is way). It was hysterical (and relatable), watching the sheer terror and laughter while being chased. So happy seeing Donut has such patient, fun and wonderful parents!!

I remembered a guy had a blind and deaf white dog he used the method of blowing his breath to the pup while it was sleeping and that would wake and not startle the dog. It was very sweet. It probably still is on youtube.

Was watching this on my laptop which is on a desk in front of a window. Felt like I was being stared at. I was. My outdoor kitty Penny was looking up at the window--highly on alert, tail twitching, wanting to make that strange cat stop yowling! 🙀 I had to turn the volume off. Donut apparently has a really effective meow. 😸
