The orchestra did a really nice job with a piece that does not add up to more than an interesting collection of sonic bits and pieces. Too many modern compositions went this route and did not endear themselves to wide audiences.When you forsake melody you are disconnecting from a large portion of your audience. This kind of approach worked for a brief while but that was 1909 in Vienna.
