Absolutely incredible. When I saw this at first I thought, this isn't going to be accessible for most people the camera must have cost 10000s ! But it's amazing you shot it on a modified £500 point and shoot!!!
Wonderful! Everything has this ethereal, 3Dish quality to it. Perfect choice of music too! That second movement of the 7th Symphony has always been one of my favorites.
that was pretty special Mr Bloom. I think as some thats ver successful in your day job you havent lost and drive to still make these sorts of films and it should inspire others in the same field to create
It looks amazing how people seem to stand still when you go by in the opposite direction. Very interesting to watch and great choice of Beethovens 7th! :)
Came here from the link on the MP2 IR clip posted today. That was interresting, but this here is a true beauty. Granted, the IR adds to the intended surreal effect, but I'm fascinated by the images and really hooked up on the high speed burst shots from the moving car. If I had to name it, I would call it an inverted hyperlapse (for the movement of the camera is faster than the objects). The result is surprising, astonishing and pleasing alike. Thank you so much for creating and sharing. I might lack equivilant equipment, but I guess I will do some experiments with what I have
Mesmerizing. The choice of music was excellent as well. I also saw at least two people look directly into, and follow the camera. One man even raised his hand and pointed a finger at you, as if to say, "Hey, there goes Philip Bloom!"
Philip.. this is one of your best works. I get a really strange feeling when watching this.. kinda melancholic/nostalgic if that makes any sense. Wonderful job.
This is simply incredible Philip. Well done. Been a subscriber for a long time but in my opinion this is your finest work to date. The shot composition, pace of the edit, music, all PERFECT! Bravo!
Hi Philip, I am an ardent follower of yours(from India) and right now, I've just finished watching this video and I'm getting goosebumps. Friggin awesome. You've all my respect and love. Best of luck for the next (ad)venture :D (Y)
Absolutely brilliant! Though if I were to make one critique, the lens flares were starting to get a bit distracting. But other than that, it looks like I was transported to another universe or dimension with beautiful colours!
Slow motion and Beethoven take those surreal shots to a completely different level. Great creative choice, all of it. Not to mention the nice framing and good eye. But that's to be expected by a Philip Bloom, isn't it?
Such beautiful imagery... in some places it looks almost post apocalyptic, in others futuristic sci-fi like its shot on another planet with a different sun and different gravity. So cool!
It's like a weird '60s Sci-fi, filmed in a place we've neither seen nor heard of; almost more fascinating than Peru. Playlist material, and good for a Sub. YT, Rob
+Matthew Herrington true but my paid filming works stops me doing that. I am in awe of people who can post quality stuff daily but that's not what drives me. Whilst more followers is great and welcome that's not my drive for sharing my work here or Vimeo. When I post videos like this they are accompanied by in depth blog posts which hopefully can educate people. It's just my way of giving back after being helped early in my career (very pre -Internet!) by terrific cameraman who took me under their wings
EPIC! Just pure epic! I think I saw the Riviera in there somewhere.. Good times! And I gotta give you your props also for that Sony a7.. The lit up beach with the buildings... If there was a title to give it I'd say: "Visions of a heavenly shore" To sum up your work, in one word.. "Inspirational."
OUTSTANDING WORK!!! And a very nice choice for the music! Funny some sun flares sync up with the music, but I know it might just as well be a case of self suggestion.
I am curious, can the RX100 IV shoot in 250fps 2 second burst normally and still get enough light to look similar to this but ofc Without the Infrared look? I am fascinated by this unreal world. Bravo!!!!
I must add that I love how you capture those moments that are just "perfect" in terms of life in action and from a removed point of view. You see the lady cooling off from being a minion, and then there is her colleague with customers, oblivious to what is going on just "out of frame" in their world. You capture the essence and elan vital of the environment in a way very few others can. Your composition throughout your portfolio is stunning too (love the use of the chem trails to create mood lines but loathe chem trails). I agree with you about art being a vehicle to convey and communicate that creative desire and ones success in any art form is gauged by how it communicates which generally can be gauged by how popular it is and you are a great artist. The ability of the art form to communicate to its audience is a greater commodity than the technical skill to create it. Cheers!
we ask for more infared and you deliver. Thanks! How would I go about doing this on other commercial based cameras? Are there other cameras that can do this? could it be as simple as putting a infared filter and shooting in video mode?
WOW a very original take on a city that has been shot to death. Congrats.
You've done so many great things Philip. This is like the best thing you've ever done. It's amazing.
thats a huge compliment. Thanks Brian!

The 2001 A Space Odyssey feel here was epic. 👏
I felt it. Bloombrick!
How have I only just seen this? Looks stunning!

Everything looks so clean. So strange. Why am I expecting a mushroom cloud in the distance at any moment????!?
Mesmerizing. The choice of music was excellent as well. I also saw at least two people look directly into, and follow the camera. One man even raised his hand and pointed a finger at you, as if to say, "Hey, there goes Philip Bloom!"
Super cool!! The slow motion was the perfect fit for this. It catches the eye so much.

This video made me shiver from its beauty and surreal nature. It was featured on Devour.
Oddly mesmerising! Great work Phillip.
This reminds me of the intro form the movie "The fall", beautiful work!
love that movie. i show the intro in the my blog post linked above
Philip Bloom Yes, a stunning movie. And great, i'll go read the blog post.

Cheers but its a real problem. So prone to them with IR and you can't shield the lens enough

These palms look so surreal... perfect!
Well that was good. Loved the music choice, reminded me of Zardoz
thanks...it was actually used in Zardoz at the end of the movie

Once again another masterpiece! This stuff is awesome!
J'ai pas de mots. C'est juste magnifique ! Great work as always
Weekly vlog with Philip bloom... That's all I'm saying :)
+Matthew Herrington

Wow! this is fantastic.... Love the slow mo which is really enhanced by the infrared.
Some of your best work. Congrats.
This is amazing! Thanks for your hard work, and lovely creation. Hope your back feels better!
EPIC! Just pure epic! I think I saw the Riviera in there somewhere.. Good times!

This is spectacularly good, hats off to you Philip!
wow, very good idea to separate pepole's movement from the camera movement, very surreal result, thanks
You are incredible! I have been following your work for a while and even inspired me to buy my own Sony A7sii
Philip this is just spectacular! Trendsetting
Awesome Mr. Bloom! Hope to meet you one day.
OUTSTANDING WORK!!! And a very nice choice for the music! Funny some sun flares sync up with the music, but I know it might just as well be a case of self suggestion.
Sitting her in the OR Tamabo airport in South Af drinking english breakfast tea watching this stunning video. Jolly good show ol' chap!
This has convinced me to convert my old NEX 5N to infrared. Awesome!
Awesome, Awesome, Awesome!...keep doing your thing Phil!
Finally a video made for my eyes , all other videos have visible light spectrum in them.
Philip Bloom you are godly
I like the ghosty look. And the slomo fits perfectly.
OK, what movie is this the opening to and when do I get to see it?
sin city
I hope to be getting the Sony mk 4 soon, well done on a awesome filming affect and presentation
250fps gives such a cool effect!
Beautiful.
Enlightening and inspiring.
Thanks for sharing.
Very surreal. Might be useful in a dream / other world sequence in a movie.
Very nice!!! aesthetically and semiotically DEEP!!!
Feels like a Terminator 2 scene...
This looks so incredible ! it feels kind of artificial and 3D but in the most interesting way i've ever seen ! thanks for sharing ! so inspirational !

Yes. Go to my blog post. Or even look for video on this channel called "call the cleaner"
Ah, Thank you!

Bizarre and wonderful.
Beautiful
You are such a genius Mr Bloom! Love your work. hotpasta

check out the blog post linked in the description.
thanks pal!
superbe ! bravo l'ami !!!
amazing how as long as the relative sanctity of skin tones, blacks and whites is maintained, everything else just seems to fit
The infrared combined with aerosol laden skies looks like a scene straight out of the Twilight Zone!
Cool! Really enjoyed it!
That is dope!! So unreal!
This is really cool. A very artistic take on an otherwise hideous city.
That's amazing!
The flickering of those neon lights is so peculiar.
Top work! Im surprised at the bitrate out of the RX100 when in high fps in your shots, i thought i saw really bad quality in the rentals i tried.
keep it to to 250fps and quality priority and you get good results.
I did look at my footages again and yes they were usually in the 500 to 1000 fps.
My bad.
Thanks for the tip!
Great job!
Amazing footage, Philip. Almost looks artificial!
Nice one !
But I didn't see that horse going out the river ? :)
yeah sadly the river was all dried up due to the watering of the golf courses in Vegas so i had to scrap that!
That's a really different look at Las Vegas
really cool
incredible
