I don’t get this, his piano playing is average for someone who played for a year or two and he’s just coupled that with backing music and all of a sudden everyone’s calling him Mozart. Yes he played with passion but pretty much every piano player I know does and many with much better pieces than this. You can make the most mundane of players sound good when you have effects and backing singers like this.

Tokio Myers is my inspiration. I've been playing piano ever since I was 3 years old (surprisingly). I'm 14 now. I've never had a teacher, so I've learned the piano by heart. I also decided to play Drums in my middle school when there wasn't any options left, since the band NEEDED a drummer. Because of this, I'm playing the drums in an EXTREMELY advanced band class in my Highschool. I'm the ONLY freshman EVER to have done this in my Highschool. But the piano is what lives in my heart. When I saw Tokio Myers perform on BGT, I was inspired. He was a percussionist AND a pianist?! I know I have the same connection with Tokio, cause we both have the exact same taste in music, especially when I cried so loud when I realized he played the main theme of interstellar as his final performance. It's because I never had a teacher that I FEEL my music. I need my piano, and my piano needs me. I hope that one day, I would just be a happy old man playing the piano with my grandkids.

Sure the Notes and Sound were good, and everything was excellent, but you have to take time to consider how much time, imagination, and creativity into it, and for the last one, the smooth transition to, "im only human after all" was great, maybe it was taking note to his past but idk, either way it was great, great job Tokyo Myers!!

@@lasagne4767 I was just thinking this guess I'm missing something
i thought exactly the same xD, i could play like that with 3 days of practice, i am a good player already.
2022 and I'm still here and I still get chills... 🥺❤
True…such an good artist ❤.
still here
Facts the amount of times I came back and watched this is crazy 😂
Yeah
I have never commented before on any video on youtube but after listening to this guy, he should be considered a legend after Yanni. So much creativity and the way he combines the instruments, its phenomenal. I hope our African musicians can one day be better than this.
Kenechukwu Ezenwanne well ur only comment got 62 likes
ScrappyCFW that’s a lot for a first comment
Not Second yep
Who tells you it's true ? Could say the same just to get some attention ;)
Nice name
His energy, passion and talent made me tearful, right from the first note he played. Incredible to see how connected he is with the piano and music. And proves that it doesnt matter if your upbringing is a less fortunate part of the world. If you are to shine, you will shine :) Inspired me and hope everyone else too x
I agree. Emotion in music makes it magical. I loved every second of this.
He’ll it seems oftentimes that growing up less fortunate is the catalyst for many artists to find their own voice & passion
colombiecup luv you for writing this
Greatly spoken brought me to tears *clap *clap *clap
colombiecup ok
This is not music. This is art

This guy is in a league of his own. From the first audition I said to my family that's the winner. You can feel the passion for music through his performance. Just incredible, probably the best act BGT ever had. I truly mean that
There won’t be another contestant like him!! Too good 👏🏽

How on earth can he manage to play this concert-quality piece with his eyes closed and not play one note wrong?? Pure stardom!!

He could be, the final song he was playing was actually composed by Hans Zimmer for the Inception soundtrack I believe. Could be wrong about the movie but it was definitely Hans Zimmer
It was created by Hans Zimmer but for Interstellar. (Hans Zimmer - No Time For Caution)
Off_time stuffs i mma thinking same
3 things that happened this week.
1. My neighbor said he don’t like dis guy
2. He was hit by a car
3. I lost my drivers license
Sharan Dillon Damn bruh. Same thing happened to me
Sharan Dillon yes sharon
Why is he so overrated he plays like a 5y/o
Y did the same thing happen to me?
@@REX-zl8wb hahaha, good joke dude.
Still amazed at all of his performances, and it’s also very rare that the final performance is the best one, but it most definitely is - still takes my breath away
6:55 I like how he stopped here and start Interstellar's main theme (middle notes)
S.T.A.Y the best one

@@j03al28 good to know that.
A worthy winner with real talent. I hope he's got a good career now.
srsly what is he doing now
Tokio Myers is my inspiration.
Weird flex, but okay.
@@jesperpetersen169 not ok
Hugh G. Rection oh yeah yeah
Oh yeah yeah
Thanks for telling us your entire musical biography
I feel this in my soul. He literally brings me to tears. His music is so powerful.
What? My daughter of 8 years plays better. He is just a good looking guy-and thats it. No talent.
@@montetanktankkiller700 .... id like to see proof of that. Besides its not simply the proficiency that makes this performance, but the emotion and how it was put together so masterfully
@@montetanktankkiller700 you’re a jealous and insecure guy 😭
@@montetanktankkiller700 why are u judging the level of his playing instead of how the pieces he plays sounds? you're basically saying that you only enjoy pieces that sound hard and not good? No one here mentioned "how hard and challenging the pieces sounds and therefore I enjoy it". Use your brain and stop feeding your own ego
@@unmilkedpotato5006 BS eg. For Elise, no matter how good the playing can be, it's just not at the level to win that kind of competition. A little claim must be allowed. And this has absolutely nothing to do with feeding my ego. I have taught at least 2800 pianists in my life. Many became orchestral musicians or pianists in their own right. This is just a laughing matter trimmed for TV.
@CoreyEXE! its probably cuz of autocorrect
Electrifying performance
I love the way Tokio flutters his fingertips as he’s finished playing........he’s so deeply talented. I have to listen to him everyday, and I wake up with his music in my head. He should be given a Bond film to score the opening titles......that would be perfect!
You have no clue how easy the pieces were. Nothing special
There's that special and unique feeling that gets into your soul each time he plays the piano. you are so special and may your music continue to bless many souls.
This guy deserves several music awards... such a talent ❤❤❤
2 sides of life:
•Emotion
•Harmony
I agree
the passion he has for music is just so strongly expressed; much respect!
i’m usually a rap type of guy, but ever since i’ve watched this video, i just can’t stop watching. like he’s so passionate, and his music is so amazing
When you have people who feel music in their veins and their soul and then they spread it out to everyone so that they can feel it too. That's the power of music. ❤️🎵
Can we appreciate the fact that his eyes were closed the entire time
It wasn't
It wasn't at all
No
@@TalkingThrones understandable, have a good day sir
I think he means that a lot of the times the camera was pointed to him he closed his eyes
Ok I thought Issy Simpson should’ve won but now I watched this and I think he’s definitely deserved it.

Teo Georgescu same
Alex Wallin an 8 year old girl who has way more talent than you. And I bet she would know the different between one and won lmao

OG Boxer I think she’d also know the difference between “different” and “difference” 😂😂
There are only limited who feel the music from and heart, soul and body and Tokyo Myres is one of them. See his facial expressions while he plays piano and drum. True and gr8 talent. Hatsoff😀😳😳😱😍
