+Parker Howerton That was literally the very first thing I noticed. I'm a sucker for creative use of bells. That's probably why this is currently my favorite track on this new album. It'll likely stay that way once I get a few more listens through the album, but it's going to take some time to fully appreciate each track. Welcome is still one of my favorite intros of all time. I really wish they'd done one for this album. Alerion, Hiatus, and Welcome gave off some super powerful vibes. I think the short, connective structure of those songs allowed them to pack a lot of punch into those mostly instrumental tracks, especially the former two. A good intro to precipitate a powerful track (ex. Welcome leading into Dear Insanity) makes a major difference. For me, this album is gonna take some getting used to. So is the new Singer's vocals. Honestly, the guy has great clean vocals. I like that there's a lot more of them on this album than the last. Danny's blown chords made his voice sound raw and ratchety. It worked well on some tracks on From Death To Destiny but I think it was an unsustainable style of singing for him. I miss the days when he could sing a silky smooth chorus like some of my favorite tracks on Stand Up and Scream, but that's neither here nor there. Anyways, I find the more frequent inclusion of clean vocals to be a step in a favorable direction. I'm not a big fan of his screechy screaming though. It just doesn't have that powerful intimidating vibe I used to get from Danny on older albums. It wouldn't be fair to say it's not one of his strengths because it's purely a matter of opinion. On a side note, I would definitely like to hear what this kid can do to a more somber, bleak-sounding slower track. Not to compare 2 completely different bands and styles of vocalists, but Bring Me The Horizon's Sempiternal changed how I look at the genre. "And The Snakes Start To Sing" is one of my all time favorite tracks because of the emotions it evokes and how its sung. Sykes sounds literally and thoroughly intoxicated by the sorrow at certain points and it just tugs at my heart in a depressingly familiar manner. When I hear Denis sing, I can't help but think of what kind of potential he must possess for such a style of singing. I know that's not really AA's style, but with their constant evolving, who knows? Maybe they'll have some slower more deliberate and evocative songs on the next album. By the way, does anyone know if he was a vocalist in a band prior to his joining up with Asking Alexandria? P.S.
