this is such a different skillset. what for one person could feel like an insane demon, to another might seem harder than a lot of extremes. there probably won't be much consensus on difficulty for a while.
My hardest is boj and i beat "I wanna be the guy" in almost less than an hour. This shows that platformer levels and normal levels should not be compared ever since they are so different from eachother.
My hardest is lucid chaos, which is WAY harder than boj... and I spent an hour and only got to the first checkpoint... the skillset difference is wild, platformers are... interesting
tip for anyone trying to beat this: wait for the camera to completly transition to the next room before grabbing a checkpoint, this will make it so that you don't have to watch the camera move every single attempt

People hating on difficult platformer levels feels like people back in 1.2 or something hating on the demons because of how difficult they are. Like bro, go play a normal extreme. Is it gonna be fun when its too difficult for you? No. But when you are good enough to play it, its fun
I personally think this would take far shorter an amount of time for a beginner to attain the skill to do than for that person to get the skill to beat cataclysm, but I might be biased from having beaten super meat boy and I wanna be the guy when I was like 7 lol, Idk if I have good perspective on this kinda stuff
no I'd say this is definitely true, I have a feeling actual platformer difficulty ratings for demons are going to change a lot or alternatively we just shouldn't compare platformer demon difficulties to normal demon difficulties. This will probably come off as a steaming hot take rn but I honestly don't see this level even being above a low-end insane demon in the future as we all get progressively better and more accustomed to platformer over the years to come. Heck I could even see this being moved to hard demon if history repeats itself and platformers go through something similar to the insane difficulty inflation we had around the late 2015 to 2017 era of the game where stuff like Nine Circles dropped from Extreme to Hard Demon and Decode from Insane to Easy demon (albeit a lot of that was from fps bypass, but still). Of course I'm just theorizing but I have a feeling its definitely possible.
I really enjoyed this video, very fresh breeze of air and I definitely would not mind seeing more of this kind of content in the future for other platformers
I don't like how every platformer hard demon so far (gdps included) is just mini robot with precise spike jumps. It's just annoying and doesn't feel challenging. I really hope we figure it out soon.
As someone who made it to the 9th checkpoint before deciding to call it quits I can confirm that "I wanna be the guy" is indeed a hard level EDIT: I am now the guy idk why i waited so long to play the level again

So, fun fact about this level: the name of the level is based off of "I Wanna be The Guy: The Game" which is a very, very, VERY brutal troll/precision platformer that demends perfection. Seriously, I've seen speedruns of the actual game and it looks insane. Imagine the GD level as a demo for the actual game (May link a speedrun of the game)

I could maybe be fine with the physics staying as slippery as they are currently, if Robtop just bumped up the decay on the friction so the last bit of momentum you have died out more quickly.
This level is tough, but it doesn't really seem like it's the same caliber -- or requires the same amount of time investment -- as a lot of the 2.1 extreme demons. In a year or so this will probably be considered a medium or hard demon.
I think the difficulty with platformer levels is set too low because my friend, who rarely plays geometry dash beat the level before me. I have beat 2 extreme demons and this, 3rd took me only 8 hours to beat IN ONE SITTING
I have to laugh because this is _exactly_ like a platformer from the 1980's.... the only difference is that all of the little annoying glitches, unforgiving mechanics & wonky physics have been programmed into this GD level, where we just learned to deal with the consistent inconsistency! If it helps you feel better... it's definitely a skill set that can be tricky to master at first (especially if you're used to another style of gameplay) but one day it will be like flicking a switch & it will feel like you always knew how to play that way. 👍

This took me 3 hours and 29 min. Half of that time was spent on the last room 1st checkpoint. That place was brutal and killed my sub 2 hour chance.
