    I have a 4AD album + 45 from 40 years ago. This recording is blowing my mind as far as what direction they sounded like..sort of alot more like post punk than synth pop. And the pic looks like the guy on the far left likes to watch..

      Nearly all Peel sessions are miles better than record company funded career guided money fuelled major label studio output for the obvious reasons they ain't doing it to pay back their backers ie the record label ps then again ACR were with Factory so it didnt matter anyway but you get me drift as in regard all the the other musical slaves on majors

    Would have made the perfect debut ep for them. Graveyard/Ballroom is a great start (with half being Hannett produced and the other being recorded by Tony Wilson), but this really captures them as band much better.

    I haven't been able to get "The Choir" out of my head for over a month now, particularly that line "But my thoughts are just hotels, full of other peoples ideas". Great production - bringing the guitars to the fore, but no match for Martin H in the drum department. I bet Donald Johnson winced at that drum-fluff at 1:37!

    • @jamesdingle456
      @jamesdingle456 5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Not a drum fluff, a clever fill with a pause before the cymbal smash, keeping it nicely in sync with the bass. DoJo uses that kind of cymbal accentuation a lot (watched him live las night in London, still amazing, and his use of cymbals is one of his trademark features). I'm not sure he's ever fluffed anything on the drums in his life, he's one of the most assured drummers I've ever seen. Or are you referring to something different?

    • @anonyarena
      @anonyarena 6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Hmm. "More class?" Only if you're the sort of backwards-thinking, and small-minded person who actually imagines there's something low-class and shameful about the human body. Meanwhile, truly liberated thinkers refuse to fall prey to such old fashioned prudish notions.

    • @cicherogabriel
      @cicherogabriel 6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      evidently the picture-cover is hilarious. but your statement seems more complex and "serious" in relation to the music compilated here.

    • @anonyarena
      @anonyarena 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I don't know. Perhaps it's English humor and since I'm American, I don't understand the gist of these jokes. It's difficult for me to comprehend in what way either the original photos, or the comment about class, is supposed to be humorous. In America there's a constant, unrelenting take-no-prisoners war between liberation advocates and body-shamers which is apparently not the case in the UK. Just so you know where I'm coming from in my perspectives.

    • @cicherogabriel
      @cicherogabriel 6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Look. I'm not English, neither American, i born in Argentina. I understand your postition or attitude. My overal point is this: politics, militances, or philosophical/cultural "wars", has nothing to do with the heart of Music itself. People like to mix worlds, and confuse them. If a person has social/philosophical posture , it's ok to discuss the opinions and fights in the right place. But Music is free of the human crazyness. From my perspective, Music is joy. Because of this, it surprised me that a person had a negative reaction in a place where it's not intended to.
