What a beautiful cruise. So lovely to see Bears and your other friends. Fabulous weather for all those locks - makes it so much more enjoyable! Hope you’re having a lovely weekend xx
Thank you Mishka, we really enjoyed that cruise, meeting friends, pretty locks and interesting lift bridges, and a lovely scenic stretch of the canal too! We’re both ok, moored up cozy and warm while it’s torrential rain outside! Hope you’re well, have a lovely weekend! xx
Lovely flight of locks, Lapworth 😊 back to single locks, happy Julie 😀 boaty life is like that weeks one your own then weeks with different friends 🧡 past Strenshie's first home 😊 stay safe ❤❤
What a lovely vlog, so nice to see the bears and Karen and drew. I do like those locks wish they were all like that. The tip of the lift bridges with the windlass 👍 lots of love to you both ❤❤❤
Aww it was so lovely seeing Karen & Drew and the Bears! And those Lapworth locks were so pretty, loved being back on single locks again! Hope you’re both well xx
Martin is a very good driver, you work very hard opening and closing lock gates! Very good excercise I am sure but bet you are ready for a brew at the last lock!
Another wonderful cruise to sit back and watch! ❤❤ “Narrowboat Super ‘B’” just posted about the flooding on the River Soar and Grand Union Canal from the rain on Saturday night and Sunday. He showed where the water is over running some locks, tow paths and roads. If you’re in it, I hope you are securely moored and safe. ❤
Hi Dee, yes, that is the case with most rivers at the moment. Luckily we are on the canals and they are not affected, as any excess water drains into the rivers. Thank you for your kind thoughts! Thanks Dee! xx
Hay Julie and Martin, I am a day late this week. Hope you have been keeping well, all those locks looked really hard work not to mention the two lift bridges as well. Fantastic video as always, lots of love, best wishes and have a fantastic weekend
Hi Edward, sorry for the late reply! We’re both well, hope you are too! Those locks were a little tough, but they were pretty locks and it was a really enjoyable cruise, and those lift bridges certainly gave me a work out lol, thanks Edward! xx
Hi guys, just what I needed a nice relaxing video with wonderful scenery. I love how you always find someone on the canals that you know and are great friends with. You use beautiful backing music on your vids, right from the get go you feel relaxed and apart of the journey. Stay safe guys, I'd normally say at this time catch you on the next one, but it's a given.👍🏻👍🏻❤❤

Aww thank you, we do make a good team, and yes, Martin does really well with the boat, I can’t imagine being able to do that tight bit without hitting something, he does great! Hope you’re well, thank you so much for your comment! xx

Martin did well didn’t he! It was lovely seeing our friends, we had no idea they were even on that canal, just a shame we couldn’t stop and moor up! The chat went really well, all will become clear soon 😜 We really enjoyed the Stratford canal, it’s beautiful, so glad you liked it too Neil, thank you! xx
Another great workout while visiting some really nice scenery. Of course on the tightest lock there would be a boat right there 😆 (EDIT) There wasn't even a road on one side of the last bridge ! Silly.
It is a lovely canal, very scenic and yes, we usually meet on coming boats at the tightest of places lol, but Martin coped great!lol re the bridge, I heard the traffic and assumed, until I saw it lol 😝 Thank you, glad you enjoyed it! xx
From one perspective (at 13:45) that boat looked so small compared to Rhapsody. In the other views it seemed more comparable. I guess I'm used to seeing boats that are different lengths but not that different in overall size. It looked like a baby boat! It's great to have a surprise meet up with friends. Not knowing who or what is is around the next bend is part of the adventure. ❤
Haha, that’s the view that Martin has, the other boat looked small because it was over 60 foot away. I don’t know how Martin judges the length of our boat standing at the back, he does so well 😃 It was lovely bumping into our friends, you just never know who will be around the next bend, or lock, it’s wonderful! Hope you’re well Dorothy, thank you! xx
Hey Guys, what a wonderful life. Meeting new people and making new friends, there always seems to be someone you know just around the bend or through the next lock. Maybe you'll moor together for a day or so or decide to travel together to the next destination or, just stop for a drink and to catch up then go your separate ways. What a life. Thanks for sharing a little part of it. Take care.
You’re exactly right Roger, it’s such a wonderful community, and even though there are over 2000 miles of waterways, we’re always meeting friends, or meeting new people all the time, you just never know who is going to be around the next corner! Glad you’re enjoying our videos, we try to keep it real and show things as they really are! Thanks Roger! xx
Lol, you’re not the first to say this, but we don’t think a drill would be powerful enough, they are quite heavy mechanisms, nice idea though 😜 Thank you! xx
Fantastic bit of boat handling Martin, well done. What a super stretch of canal. Great to see Bears again. I wonder if they know Wes and Amy are just up the canal too. So lovely for everyone to meet up every now and again.
It’s lovely meeting up with friends unexpectedly,it’s happened a lot lately! You just never know who you’re going to meet around the next corner, it’s one of the lovely things about boating. The community is wonderful, we have so many friends now since living on the water, we love it! I think Amy & Wes keep in touch with the Bears and will probably meet up again later in the year. I’m sure we’ll meet up again properly at some point too, they are lovely! Thanks Tessa xx

Hi, I’ve been an avid viewer for some time and have finally purchased our own NB. I have always been impressed with the shine on your boat and wondered what wash and polish you use?? Keep up the great vlogs. Cheers. Colin
Hi Colin, lovely to have you onboard! Martin uses G3 products, you can get them most places, shampoo (blue), colour restorer and scratch repair (green) and polish (red). Just be careful with the shampoo, there’s two versions, one is safe for aquatic and the other is poisonous! Martin rinses and uses a real leather most days only, and gives it the full works twice a year, once in Spring and once in Autumn. Hope this helps! Thanks Colin! xx

Hi Jan, it took us 3 hours to complete the thirteen locks and then another hour to do the two lift bridges, and the distance was two and a half miles. You can’t beat a cuppa lol 😜 Not quite sure what you mean on that last question 🤔 It was a lovely cruise though, we really enjoyed it! Thanks Jan xx

@@JulieandMartinonRIB NO no no, My Grandmother and other older folks always said 'You must be some kind of svengolie' ( such as having magical powers)when anyone did something that was amazing. Haha 😝 some of the trees do need cutting back a bit! We often get fallen tree notifications from CRT, where a tree has fallen and closing a canal until removed. It’s a shame they don’t have the funds to be pro-active and trim them before they fall, but c’est la vie! Thanks Derek! xx

Yes there is, but there’s also a flip side to that, we had a few ‘stalker-like’ issues with an app like that, so we ditched it! Besides, it’s lovely to meet people unexpectedly, all adds to the adventure! xx
hello martin hello julie good evening .i hope your boat gets the all clear its a real nice looking boat we are in for a treat the weekend thunder storms or so they say .its very strange here its dark at 6am in the morning im doing two to three jobs a day as you know im only on a bike so im having to boot it round from one place to another but they are local better half say a big hello how you doni on them things i told you about
🦆 Our creative writers group meets tomorrow, so, my brain is going, "Hmm, what stories might there be in whatever happenings are happening at the Sleepy Ducks Pub?"
I think actually I prefer walking, especially on the towpaths as they are so uneven. I’ve had two operations on my spine, so my core stability isn’t that good,so I’m really not very confident on bikes anymore, the slightest bumps and I tend to fall off lol 😝 so walking is just fine, thanks for the thought though Derek! xx

How do you do it Julie, you must be a Svengoolie to keep turning out such great episodes because you have done it again. .
Hi Bill, I’m hoping this is a compliment lol 😜❤️ we don’t have Svengoolie here, so I just looked it up and Google says it is an American horror show!! 😳🤷♀️😂😂
Glad you’re enjoying our videos, it’s always lovely to receive feedback! Thanks Bill xx
@@JulieandMartinonRIB NO no no, My Grandmother and other older folks always said 'You must be some kind of svengolie' ( such as having magical powers)when anyone did something that was amazing. I am so sorry to refer to your post as a 60's horror show, that was definitely not my intention. Please forgive me. I tend to forget that our southern sayings may not be recognizable to the folks across the sea.
Hahaha 🤣 that’s funny! I should have known it would be something like that, thank you for the lovely compliment!! We try to keep our content real and show the canals and this life as it really is, and it’s lovely to hear feedback like this, it really makes it worthwhile, thanks Bill! xx
Those set of locks were so pretty.
Yes we thought that too, really lovely setting, and we much prefer the singe locks, they were a joy to work! Thank you! xx
Lovely locks and beautifully filmed Julie
Aww thank you David! Was lovely seeing you both! xx
thats a nice place to stay great views julie and martin great blog
Thanks Derek! xx
@@JulieandMartinonRIB julie i know that feeling well i got ran over when i was 31 spent 6 weeks in hospital the driver got away with it and i didnt get a penny it left me with a lot of problems but the bike got me back in shape it only took ten years lol but im not to bad now i get back pain but thats cause of the gardens as you know it can be very hard work you would have laughed yesterday i was up an apple tree cuting off the big branches its good to be working i could cut some of them trees you and martin go past i always say to julie i would have to cut them back im like that thow blimey its a good job im not on the boat with you id be saying let me loose on them trees
Haha 😝 some of the trees do need cutting back a bit! We often get fallen tree notifications from CRT, where a tree has fallen and closing a canal until removed. It’s a shame they don’t have the funds to be pro-active and trim them before they fall, but c’est la vie! Thanks Derek! xx
@@JulieandMartinonRIB its a shame cause trees are wonder full if you look after them i do all sorts of work im landscaping one of my customers gardens he his 72 he has healh issues his wife a very nice lady like you a very nice lady martin is a very a very nice gentleman but im keeing my hour rate at a price that people can afford im not a greedy person it pays the bills and i love to see people happy i grow potatoes and give them to my older well mature people some of my people cant afford a lot so i grow carrots and other things for them they are a nice bunch i hope you and martin will always be on youtube we would miss you big time so please dont go away
Aww that’s so nice of you! And don’t worry, we’re not going anywhere xx
16:29 I think Martin and the boat need to get a room.
😂😂😂🤣 hahaha, just looked that up, really made us laugh! He is a joker lol xx
@@JulieandMartinonRIB I also think there is a app you can have on a phone that keeps track of all your friends in real time on a map so you wouldn't be surprised as much, and you could coordinate more with them.
Yes there is, but there’s also a flip side to that, we had a few ‘stalker-like’ issues with an app like that, so we ditched it! Besides, it’s lovely to meet people unexpectedly, all adds to the adventure! xx
@@JulieandMartinonRIB Stalkers! Whaa.....Okay.
Yes, it can get a bit weird when everyone knows where you are, you only need one wrong person 🤷♀️ so we keep people guessing lol 😜 xx
hello martin hello julie good evening .i hope your boat gets the all clear its a real nice looking boat we are in for a treat the weekend thunder storms or so they say .its very strange here its dark at 6am in the morning im doing two to three jobs a day as you know im only on a bike so im having to boot it round from one place to another but they are local better half say a big hello how you doni on them things i told you about
Hi Derek & Julie! Lovely to hear from you! Cycling is good exercise, stay safe! xx
🦆 Our creative writers group meets tomorrow, so, my brain is going, "Hmm, what stories might there be in whatever happenings are happening at the Sleepy Ducks Pub?"
Ooh that sounds interesting, what a lovely idea for a story, glad you enjoyed the video! Thanks Scott! xx
Is it me? Or are the hinges of the lift bridges on the opposite side to the tow path?…bit difficult if solo….
Yes, they always are, it does seem a bit bonkers, but single-handers are very resilient lol. Thank you! xx
@@JulieandMartinonRIB thanks for the reply, really enjoyed your teamwork and the lifestyle balance you’ve created….onwards to new adventures 👍
Aww thank you so much! xx
julie you need a bike save all that walking .
I think actually I prefer walking, especially on the towpaths as they are so uneven. I’ve had two operations on my spine, so my core stability isn’t that good,so I’m really not very confident on bikes anymore, the slightest bumps and I tend to fall off lol 😝 so walking is just fine, thanks for the thought though Derek! xx
