Hi, I'm a beginner and for the first time, after six months that I started playing, with this video I was finally able to have fun playing, congratulations for the video, ciao
You maybe could've mentioned that you're playing it in Am but a capo on the 2nd fret puts you in Bm. One Eagle played it like that and there's another guitar, a 12-string, with the capo on the 7th fret, bringing Em chord shapes up to Bm. The song was written in Em and recorded 3 times and the 3rd time the singer changed the key from Em to Bm and the Em guitar part was capoed up to the 7th fret. Bm is the key if you want to play along with the record and if you just play the first chord on the record and stop you can guess that it's Hotel California. Or at least me and my sister can. Most of the chords move in 5ths whereas chords usually move in 4ths. The F# chord is the V of Bm, and a lot of the chords are in the Phrygian Dominant mode. This is also known as the Andalusian Cadence of Gypsy, Spanish and Flamenco music.
Great lesson James. This is a great lesson for us players who need more practice on open chord changes and right hand picking timing. Thanks for your great explanations! What metronome bpm were you using?
Please make a video of picking the full 8 beats per chord instead of only 4 beats to fill the pause. It can still be easy because you’re not placing the capo on the 7th fret.
Hey James - thanks for the great tutorials! Just flagging that the tab at the end is wrong... As least I think it is. I played along to it and noticed that the E chord is the same as the Am chord with the exception of the low E, and the G chord should be 2nd fret of the A string, not the D string right? Can someone more experienced than me confirm this? Thanks all!
good call. i'm not seeing anything wrong with the E but yea the G looks like a typo it should say 0 instead of 2. the 2nd frett on the A string is not even played
great video and what a joy to have a reachable version at hand ! thank you many of the versions I see (and like) on youtube play an E7; how would that translate in the intro please ?
Thank you so much for this. I appreciate it. This is exactly the way I learned it. I’ve been trying for so long to remember how I learned it but thanks to you. I remember now so thank you so much for this.
i still cant understand why the eagles cares so much about people teaching their songs online. it's like.....do they need to make more money because their mansions and olympic size indoor swimming pools aren't big enough? it's in a different key and everything and yea they would take down your vid or fine you. it's just sad.
Why not teach it in e-minor? I mean if you pick the wrong key anyway in e-minor you can at least play the right chords and passing notes. It is even easier in E.

So many variations on this intro, but this is by far the easiest and it sounds great. Thank you for sharing

Parts of that opening sound like the Stones playing "Angie" or "Beast of Burden."
Thank you !
OMG so nice 🎉🙏
I hope that Eagles Internet Police doesn't copyright strike this video 😁
Thank you so much 💓
I have watched that video of chords and strumming pattern
Hi . great easy intro but, correct me if I am wrong, I think there is an error on the chord diagram part at 8:59. The E chord looks like Am to me
Hello sir, can you make on shape of my heart in a easy way on guitar.
Thats exactly what i have looked for.
