  • "Tim would grab my neck, grab my arm." Timothy Ferriter is on trial for allegedly locking his adopted teen son in an 8' by 8' box in his garage. On the stand, the son recalled the "dehumanizing" experience of sitting in darkness and using a bucket instead of a restroom.

@@biglil711, silly? Are you serious? Do you not get that this boy was imprisoned? He was locked up like a criminal. He wasn't even allowed to use the bathroom like the rest of the family. I’m not saying these parents are right, but we don’t know the kinds of behaviors they had to deal with. I think basically making him stay in the box for extended periods of time deplorable. Either way you sanctimonious people that commented to my comment are the reason innocent people are in prison.

i agree, they don't seem to be focusing so much as to the trama they are putting the child through, or the dangers/risks they let him at. they seem to be more focused on what the child did wrong.. personally, he did some stupid kid things. he seems very smart and should be in a higher education than they have him in. it don't matter what this child did, no excuse to lock a child in a room without access to lights, air conditioning, food, water, and a bathroom. i can see if the child sleepwalked, to lock his door while he's sleeping but make sure he is fed, and bathroom first, then there would be an alarm installed for fire, and an escape. this set up was nothing but a jail cell and i'm sure jail cells have emergency procedures to unlock the cell in the event of a fire. ..and if he's afraid of the dark to let a night light on.. how could they even emotionally listen to his crys every time they shut that door and shut out the lights?

There's definitely something else going on besides a father's abuse of a child.
The whole control and abuse thing is very troublesome.
The defendant reminds me of my ex who's a covert narcissist..His appearance, his lack of emotion, the cold, dark intimidating stares.
Covert narcissists have an insacious need to control, over the top control, mostly in hurtful, cruel ways.
They prey on the most vunerable.
In relationships, or in families, covert narcs seek out those they see as weak, so they'll be easier to verbally abuse.
It's not being strict, or having a bad day here and there, it's constant, sustained verbal abuse.
      This is how they operate.
They don't physically abuse because they'll be evidence of their physical, destructive behavior.
It's verbal and over a period of time, it can cause psychological damage to their targets.
Adopting a baby or a child would be a perfect choice of a covert narcissist because they see those as underprivileged, vunerable, etc, hence they are easy to manipulate and abuse.
They hide their inner feelings, but underneath their perfect image, is a heartless monster.
My opinion, but from what I have heard this far about this story, there are similarities of the defendants behavior and covert narcissist behavior.
Without knowing the family dynamics, if this is true, the spouse is sometimes oblivious to covert narcissists, what their intentions are and what they're actually capable of doing and why.

Vulnerable children attracts predators. "orphans" from poor countries are seen as very vulnerable and many ppl who are attracted by international adoption have alternate agendas for the child, more than just having a child.
Many international adoptees are not really orphans, even from very poor countries. Real orphans are to sick or handicaped for the western world to want them, so these children are snatched and kidnapped from the real parents. THere is a lot of money in international adoption and there are f. ex. warnings going out in the countryside of China that the region is attacked by childsnatchers.

This child was subjected to a form of psychological torture. Being isolated and locked up in a pitch black room for hours on end, with no stimulus is a form of sensory deprivation. This child was stripped of rights as a human being, right down to the most basic thing, such as water if he's thirsty. If he had not been rescued eventually that treatment would have led to irreversible damage. Now, with the right therapist and a good family behind him, he'll make a full recovery. Also, a big "thank you" to the contractor that alerted the police.
As for Timothy Ferriter, he's a dumb ass. He rejected a plea deal of 2 years in prison and now faces 40 years and possibly more. He's not the brightest cookie in the crayon box, which is probably why he thought it was a good idea to build a box to imprison this poor child in. I can't wait to hear how the defense is going to explain this one.

It sounds like it was continuous punishment for this boy. When I heard the defense opening statement about the boy, I was not expecting him to sound so intelligent, mature and self-assured. Lord, help him to heal.

Oldest defense ...Blame the victim. Hope it doesnt work and they are found guilty. It will send a message to others that this is NOT discipline its abuse . He, the so called father ,may find himself in a locked room with a thin mattress.

I just watched his sentencing & he was allowed to hug people after being found guilty & then walk to a more private area to be cuffed. That’s absolute BS!

These parents belong in jail. If this young child, was having difficulty with his behavior , his parents should have sought out medical treatment and helped him. There are 1 million different ways they shouldn’t help him, putting him in the dark you don’t deserve that.

That monster sitting in the courtroom listening to his child's testimony as if he's listening to a weather report and planning out his day. He's definitely got more than a few screws loose. Smh, no sane person could ever rationalize this type of treatment or be so callous as to not have an ounce of curiosity as to why this is so wrong on so many levels. Evil in plain sight.

These sickos adopted a child just to torment and abuse him. Psychotic and depraved of a soul. They both should be locked away into a hole to never see the light of day for at least 16 years. Oh and feed peanut butter sandwiches, chips and a fruit. Smh, they should have the opportunity to experience what they've did to their adopted child, at the very least.
