    I've learned more from you than I have any other watercolor teacher. I appreciate your step-by-step instruction....even showing the paper towel and how you dab your brush. It bears repeating (and I'm a visual learner).

      My pleasure Nadine~ I seem to gravitate towards this type of composition not only using odd numbers (3's here) but also this "V" composition a lot. I also like the "Z" composition. I cant wait to see what you create with this! I am going to add the drawing for download on Etsy hopefully today for you all so you don't have to worry about drawing these (if drawing isn't your thing.) Happy painting my friend!

    I want to paint a series of native botanicals. Milkweed, cardinal flower, Monarda , coneflowers and the like. Was wondering if you could do short series follow along?

  • @debramarvin

    Thanks Debbie, I really want to master poppies. Is their a reason you used the Dugato, firmer, softer,fuller? I am struggling to recreate those first strokes where you used the side of your brush. Is there a video where you have demonstrated strokes you can get from the side? I also notice you do a tiny bit of wiggling on some of the petals? Hoping my mention on Jenna’s video boosted you a bit. Deb

    • @DebbieWalkerArtmadeeasy
      @DebbieWalkerArtmadeeasy  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi Abracadabra~ FIRST, Thank you so much I was so excited to see you mention me,, that was really nice and made me smile. I will absolutely do a video on using the side of your brush... Great idea! I love to add an organic wiggle, and so happy you noticed that so I can mention it again. I will work on that video and have it up soon. Start with your brush in a horizontal position, place the tip of your brush down and then begin laying the belly of your brush down horizontally. As you do so, somewhat drag your brush downward from the top of the petal towards the base. as you get to the base, begin pulling up till you are on the tip of your brush again. I hope that makes sense, I LOVE using the side of my brush it creates a wide brushstroke and can create the perfect wide petal, like that in a Poppy. Great to see you here~Practice practice and more than anything enjoy!

    • @debramarvin
      @debramarvin ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@DebbieWalkerArtmadeeasy I look forward to your video, I have the basic petal stroke mastered but using the side of the brush or creating petals from the side or coming forward are a struggle. Love your videos! You are obviously a true teacher, given the way you respond to your students. Don’t ever worry about repetition, we beginners need all that to nail down that muscle memory and fine motor coordination. I was an Occupational Therapist and Hand Therapist back in the day and this would be great activity for hand rehab. Thanks again!

      @@debramarvin You are giving me ideas about creating the video; thank you for that input. Yes, I constantly repeat warm-ups daily and practice before each time sitting down to paint. I STILL do as you see in my introduction and prep sheets I make (1) available for each tutorial. How interesting the work you did, how rewarding that must have been! I doa gree it is so good for our mental and physical connection for the brain. Im going to be 60 in August but I plan to continue painting and practicing as much as possible ! Thank you again for your thoughts and input.

    • @debramarvin
      @debramarvin ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@DebbieWalkerArtmadeeasy I liked the reminder to warm up, maybe if its reasonable you could show strokes that you will be using in the specific video. I did the warm up you showed while watching the video the first time. Yes extremely rewarding, our hands are so precious! 67 in September, never too old to learn, right! Deb in Austin

    • @DebbieWalkerArtmadeeasy
      @DebbieWalkerArtmadeeasy  ปีที่แล้ว

      @@debramarvin Indeed I can do that. In my earlier videos (I’m a newbie so a couple months ago) I shared the brushstrokes used so we could all practice and warm up before painting. I’m glad to hear that is of value, I wasn’t sure if it was making the videos too lengthy. Again, great feedback for me!
