I’m a man for the fedora hats instead of baseball hats. It is sad that most men in today’s society don’t want the fedora hats because they don’t think they would look good in them. They would much rather and prefer the baseball hats. Pretty much every man in my own life wears a baseball hat and I wish more men would choose the fedora hats.
I am trying to break into hats and don't care too much for the baseball cap. Since I live in florida I picked up a Brixton cool max style fedora for the summer.
I've just bought my Fedora and it's on it's way here now, I've got about 12 baseball hats that fit me perfectly but I've been wanting to try out this Fedora look but in a more casual way. I wear button up short sleeve shirts and shorts to my knees with low top shoes so hopefully what I've got in mind will work. 😁
I like your style and I'm a big believer in brand loyalty too - I just wish brands were more loyal. I think many merchandisers think styles need to change. Maybe they think change makes their jobs more relevant.
I have a Goorin hat and I was disappointed with it. But I also want a everyday hat and this looks good. I have a similar hat by DPC which is cotton, cotton seems to work for any weather.
Optima makes your "dream hat" having said that remember that Johnny wore one of thses premium hats in "Public Enemy" It was period correct AND featured a tight haircut. For every day he wears what can only be described as a "lost Fedora" so you decide? Incidently THAT HAT you modeled makes you look older by about fifthteen years, Who knows maybe Johnny Depp makes his own line of hats now!
Those hats were not designed for you to be able to reshape the crown. The way the very top of the crown is sown in determines the shapeless you want to do a lot of work on it to get a tear drop or something else. Maybe an open road style crease. I have two outback style hats that I wore when working and prospecting in the mountains in northern British Columbia. I wore one or the other everyday, the black one being my "dress hat". Those lightly oiled canvas are still going strong though I no longer do that kind of work, so I'm into felt fedoras now.
Bailey hats supply two thick felt strips to help size the hat. That's a more than tad better than the hardware sponge strip option.

I love fedoras but sadly I was blessed with a big dome. I’m more of a 2xl and 3xl if I want a loose fit. Hard to find
