    The fact you have to say "Mr. Moustache" instead of a person's s ACTUAL NAME in a history related video shows how messed up TH-cam has become as a concept, let alone a business.

    • @armorsmith43
      @armorsmith43 4 ปีที่แล้ว +437

      herrzimm the problem is the preferences of advertisers. Most don’t want to be associated with the unpleasantnesses in human history.
      TH-cam should create a “history” category of ad spaces to sell to travel companies, film studios, and video game companies.

      @@armorsmith43- The ads not wanting to be associated with something still shows the fact that TH-cam is messed up as a business model if you have to avoid using a real person's NAME.
      The "why" no longer matters if you have to avoid saying the NAME of a person who did a thing or else you will be punished. And the arguement that it is because of the ads doesn't hold up when you consider the fact the same companies will buy ad-time on TV where They will dedicate an entire episode talking about the same person and use their name at least 30-40 times in an hour. But TH-cam won't let you say that name once in a 4min video.

      I know its a joke, but I have to correct you a little:
      It was not the Hyperinflation that triggered the economic crisis of the Weimar Republic but actually the Deflation of the late 20s and early 30s.
      The conservative government, being shocked by the Great Depression and remembering the hyperinflation opted to save money during the crisis, which absolutely killed the economy.
      So, in the end, the money printer wasn't the problem, but rather not using it at the right time.

    From what I understand of history, Germany wasn't guilty of causing WWI any more than Britain and France were guilty of causing WWII by "joining" their ally Poland in war. Germany, in WWI, was allied to Austria-Hungary, so when they declared war, Germany was bound to join them. When Poland was threatened by Germany, Britain and France "declared war" on Germany, though did absolutely nothing to stop them. Britain and France abandoned Poland but remained at war with Germany.

    • @Jonathold
      @Jonathold ปีที่แล้ว +3

      And to be fair, the treaty of Versailles was absolutely and wholly unjust, punishing Germany (and Austria-Hungary) for the war in a way that completely destroyed their economy to the point of ruin, and even removed the German monarch, causing the instability that led to the Weimar Republic. I'm not sure what the Western Powers hoped to accomplish by destroying the German state (by the way Germany wasn't even invited to the peace negotiations in WWI), but it's not surprising to me that extremism took hold. Germans were impoverished, starving, and desperate following the "Great War." Any people in such a situation would be looking not only for someone to blame, but for a solution. All the events that followed, whether intended or not, are as much the fault of the Western Allies as they are the Nazi Party. The Nazi's wouldn't have existed except for the injustices done to Germany after WWI.

    • @Jack29245
      @Jack29245 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Germany promised Austria that they would back them no matter what, this blank check issue is a big part of why Germany gets blamed. If Austria wasn't told it could do whatever it wanted and still have German protection it may not have been bold enough to risk war with Russia by invading Serbia. Also, Germany was at the heart of many of the pre-war build-ups, like Wilhelm dramatically increased tensions between Britain and Germany during the Anglo-German Naval Arms Race which is part of the reason the alliance systems formed the way they did. Then the matter of the peace treaty, if you look at the treaty of Brest-Litovsk, Germany enforced much harsher conditions on Russia than the allies enforced on Germany so it's a little hard to be sympathetic there. There wasn't much reason to invite Germany to the peace conference in fact doing so may have made the problem worse, the only difference between the peace treaty and an unconditional surrender was words, if the German government had been invited to the peace conference nothing would have changed and their reputation at home may have tanked even further.

    Liked this, having just helped my nephew revise for his GCSE History (a brilliant course btw)!
    The Rentenmark/Rentenbank after hyperinflation was huge in establishing confidence in money as was the Dawes Plan allowing the US to invest in German industry (plus Locarno pact and later being invited to join the League of Nations), leading to jobs and a growing economy and confidence. A liberal constitution (Weimar) with women's & voters rights was significant too as were modern cultural shifts (bauhaus?). Things were improving well after hyperinflation.
    Then came the Wall St Crash in 1929 and the US banks / businesses had to call in German loans which plunged Germany back into economic depression and support for Weimer easily leaked away in a time when extreme ideologies were readily accepted, and was seized upon by Hitler particularly, who had realised he couldn't just rely on the brownshirts and violence, but needed political manouverings aswell to advance the Nat Socialists (NSDAP)cause. Hence for example he would promote traditional values under a single strong leader and scare folks about eg communists seizing their land (for the common good, part of their ideology).
    Forcing the president to hold further elections early in the '30s Hitler gained many seats in parliament and ultimately as Chancellor (more political manouverings) forbade communists from taking their seats in the Reichstag thus achieving massive parliamentary superiority and so the ability to change the constitution (and create the post of Fuhrer and Cabinet, not parliamentary, rule). The rest, as they say, is also history!
