Chuwattana (sometimes spelt Chuwatthana) is one of the oldest gyms not just in Bangkok, but in Thailand. Used to be that it was an elusive gym to train at (for foreigners). But moving with the times, it has greatly relaxed its policies over the years and now welcome fighters and muaythai practitioners of all levels, local or foreign.
Chuwattana was founded by respected fight promoter Chucharoen Raweearamwong about some 50 years ago, so it’s got a long, rich history of grooming good fighters.
We went on a random morning session, and happened to have the gym all to ourselves. Training was detailed and very good. Our trainer was experienced, details-oriented and had a very kind energy.
This gem of a gym is situated right smack in the middle of Bangkok’s bustling Chinatown, so it’s a great gym to hit up if you are also wanting to do some touristy things.
Chuwattana schedule: Morning session: 8:30am; afternoon session: 3:30pm

Have fond memories of this place. Training with Chay (Kanongsuk) and eating the home cooked food which was better than any restaurant there.

nice video, the gym is sadly a shadow of its old self in the early 2000' and will be closed soon like a lot of the old thai style gyms in bangkok
