G3 Monster High having some of the worst takes from the doll community this year...whether it be Frankie's pronouns, Draculaura's body type and Lagoona's stereotypical personality... just so many wild opinions and accusations flying around. Like it's so exhausting
Lagoona isn't stereotypical. She is just enthusiastic, not necessarily the angry latina stereotype. We actually have more scenes of her being happy and kind than "spicy."
I think people are unhappy with the new Truly Me reboot as they basically changed the whole line around where the dolls have painted lashes, expensive accessories and meet outfits, and almost everyone of them has dyed hair which I know a lot of adult collectors don’t like. (I also don’t like how they took away most of the boy dolls- I still wanted to get two of them!) Also the quality control on them has been apparently terrible. It’s making some nervous about the future of AG especially since the new line was released alongside a $500 ish dollhouse that is definitely not worth it in my opinion. I’m on the fence about The Who,e thing but a lot of collectors are not a fan.
Love these videos! It's so refreshing to hear honest opinions rather than people reviewing dolls only to gush about how great they are just so they can get PR from the brands. 🙄I don't get the appeal of mermaze dolls, they all have the same face just with varied skin tones and eye colours. And that Queen doll was so basic and underwhelming for the price. I only bought G3 Cleo and the Barbie Rewind School girl this year, dolls are just way too expensive now for the quality we're getting, especially in Australia.
Holiday Barbie. So disappointing, even the redhead. That dress! It looks like someone at Mattel had a cold, grabbed a bunch of tissues, looked at the mess in their hands and said "heh if we color this red it will make a perfect dress." Not even one piece of bling on it. Bleh! Also FYI if you have Natasha Zima from Rainbow High and you put her in Mila's burgundy dress, it will stain her body. What the hell MGA, we should be able to put any doll into any outfit without worrying about that. Okay rant is over. Love your channel.
I haven't voted but I would say everything with monster high simply cause they screwed over European fans. Over here monster high G3 hasn't even released...nothing at all and their limited edition dolls which sell out in 5 minutes release early in the morning over here. What's stopping Mattel from having a larger stock? Their current numbers sell out immediately don't they want more money? I'll never understand what's going on
@@magdlynstrouble2036 could be worse tbh. Australian and European markets at least get acknowledged for normal MGA releases and the barbie stuff. God knows how other continents are doing. From what I heard those have their own doll lines which are more aligned to the culture.
I purchased the Guo Pei doll and love her. I have her on my shelf and I do like looking at her. On the plus side, her face screening is beautiful, no pixilation and the coat is stunning IRL. I also bought her because she is a tribute to an extremely talented fashion designer that, IMO deserves more recognition. I also purchased the Divining Beauty Adele Makeda doll, with the purple coat to display them together. I love that the doll community is made up of people with different views and faves. I agree with the rest of the List, I stopped buying MGA dolls because they dont appeal to me. Great vid and look forward to watching you in 2023!
My niece absolutely adores the new Draculaura! She's always liked Draculaura, and when she saw the new doll, she was just like, "She's curvy like me and still super cute!" It was cool seeing her get so excited. She's been pretty "meh" on play line dolls lately (not that I blame her), so seeing her excited just made me happy. Rainbow/Shadow High has been kind of hit or miss for me this year. There are a couple that I liked in pictures, but when I went to buy the doll in person, I just felt indifferent, especially with the prices going up. I was super excited about a few of the LOL Tweens, but they are stupid popular where I am, so I haven't had luck finding the ones I like.
I love when you do these videos because it shows how certain lines are just really polarizing. Like people either love or hate Shadow High, or love or hate the Tweens, for example.
Paid 200$ for older Barbie collector dolls on the second market later because the quality and detail was there. But not for the crap they come out with today.
Im so disappointed in mattel rn, most of these dolls i can literally make them myself for a cheaper price 😭😭 and the monster high repros?? Seriously mattel stop embarrassing urself, at least the bratz repros are everywhere and online
I adore Draculaura! I love that she has pointed ears and I love her pretty, petite, curvy body. She's not fat at all. I think she's perfect! She's so cute! I'm not into gothic stuff, but I want to buy her, reroot her, and repaint her into a fairy.
“Calm your tits” 😂😂😂😂😂 Seriously though Draculaura is adorable and I love that G3 has different body types. I knew number 2 was going to be Mermaze just by the way you worded it before you said it. Yeah I’d say Mattel creations should be 1 as it’s amazingly the worst doll site and it does not need to be like that!!
TBH I only really don't care for the Gen 3 of Monster High 'cause a lot of the outfits feel incomplete or a little unfocused. I think the dolls have been improving, though. I actually got one of the slumber party ones. The upcoming line has me excited too.
Like compared to g2 they are a MASSIVE improvment but just not to the same extent as g1, i agree with alot of people saying it just feels like barbie but with unnatrual skin tones and animal ears they keep overusing pink on every character and it gets exhuasting G1 has many quality issues but i didnt mind as the dolls still looked pretty great-i actually liked the fashion and how it focused on alt culture instead of appeling to everyone, plus it ended up in other great monster and alt focused doll lines like novi stars and bratzillas being made too I think there are g3 dolls who have the same spirit as g1 like draculaura and frankie(esp in the two pack with deuce) but its overall much more softer
Yeah, I think the dolls are cute but I’d be wasting money cause I’d just be redressing them in RH/SH/LOL clothes and throwing out the ones they come with.
I kind of agree. The base dolls are much much better. But the designs themselves are hit or miss for me. My dream monster high would be the gen 1 monster high designs on the g3 monster high bodies.
I would imagine G3 Monster High would have gone over a little better (not by the bigots and fatphobic people, of course) if Mattel had done a better job with the creeproduction and haunt couture releases. The G1 fans are too angry to enjoy what G3 is (they're all great, love both).
I can’t really get into most of the G3 dolls because they have that modern Mattel preschool stink combined with their hardon for the 80s. I love the dolls themselves and the different bodies (except the necks) but the clothes, I really can’t vibe with. I don’t want to buy them because while I love Monster High I have no use for their clothes. The only outfit I can say I really like is Draculaura’s creepover outfit and her Goreganizer.
I've bought all of the first G3 line (the regular high school ones), including Deuce and Ghoulia, but I had to draw the line at Frankie because of their short neck and high collar making them look so awkward!! It makes me sad because they were by far the best character in the movie.
I hate Mermaze like "WAHT ARE YOU? WHO ARE YOU FOR?" They wanna be fashion dolls? But have the quality of play dolls? But then the aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa i cant even word. Disgrace to mermaids. AND I LOVE MERMAIDS
I'm cracking up over here about the Mark Ryden dolls and you saying "those are two fashionistas" because you are not wrong! I bought that bee though, I love her.
I cannot believe anyone is disappointed in the Mark Ryden Barbie dolls (your # 9). It is pop surrealism, folks. Mark Ryden's art is a choice and not everyone gets "it". I laughed soo hard when you said "they are just Fashionistas". I enjoyed your video.
Right? They are art dolls, meant for display only, not play. It would have been much weirder for them to have full articulation than to have a fashionista body.
I got the 150 bee queen Mark Ryden and she is beautiful. The whole box artwork is so pretty and the coat is the softest, but then again I’m a die hard Mark Ryden fan who is obsessed with vintage barbies hahaha
Another gripe i have with G3 Monster high is actually how hard it is to get them online without scalper pricing. They never went on sale for Christmas (well that much) so its pretty frustrating.
I actually got my two first shadow high girls on christmas from my brother and honestly i enjoyed them far more then junior high-i held natasha for one second and i instantly knew shes gonna be my most favorite one of the bunch I only have poppy from junior high and shes cute but she got no stand and i just dont feel connected to her Tho mayb im bias bcus im more into gothic and alt dolls so shadow high appels to me more-there are some RH dolls i ADORE like lila but overall..shadow high is more my taste
@@iamsoverybored878 honestly thats valid and i hope you get bella!! I personally think id only get antoer one for very cheap on the second hand market or thrifted
I only got Sunny Jr High because G1 Sunny is the only one I liked and bought (secondhand cheap). I love her cute jackets with the tiny things sewn into it. So creative and unexpected! I prefer Shadow High tho. I bought 3 and my bf gave me Ainsley for Xmas!
A lot of these I agree with totally. Though I LOVE G3 monster high (Draculaura is my favorite, we love a short curvy queen), they're designs overall appeal to me a lot more because they feel more individual and unique than the originals. Not to say the originals were bad at all, I guess I just don't have as much nostalgia because my parents wouldn't buy them for me when I was a kid lol. And honestly I really like Roxie, though I bought her on sale, definitely not full retail.
Contrary to the poll opinions, I like American Girl Truly Me (some of them, anyway, and on sale), LOL Tweens (if you unbox one, the detail is really impressive for the size), Shadow High dolls (especially Shanelle and Nicole), Disney Ultimate Princess Celebration dolls (some of them, and on sale only), Monster High G3 (although I'm only buying selectively), Barbie Extra (select ones, and on sale), and Mermaze Mermaids (the Winter Wave, and on sale). I agree with the RH Dia de los Muertos, RH Jr High (although I did just buy a couple on sale), BarbieStyle dolls (although I did buy the one with braids on sale, and I love her), Holiday Barbies at regular price, RH Paris Hilton (the price and the shoddy beading on the boots), the availability of Monster High reproductions (although we had it better in Canada, for a change), the crazy rush on the Queen Elizabeth doll after she passed away, the Mark Ryden dolls (I kind of like them, but not worth the price to me), OMG Fierce (they look a little gangly to me - all legs), Guo Pei in the yellow dress, Fashionistas (faces aren't even good anymore because almost all are pixelated), Art Squad (they look a little creepy), the Honorable Mentions, and Roxie Grand (love her face and hair, but not the price and dress).
I’m a dedicated collector of G1 Monster High. I ran into a couple sisters in Targeted, one junior high, the other high school who collect G1. They had dismissed the G3 dolls “Lagoona is pink 😡”. I had just purchased G3 Lagoona, I think she’s adorable. I said, “Oh, okay.”
so as an omg collector I can defiantly explain why people shit on the tweens and fierce dolls: so essentially the issue lies within the body molds for the dolls, which is just awful. the tweens dolls have some of the best tier designs and one of the best concepts with the "wonderland" costume line. but simply put, because of the fact that there tweens, and are distinctly pre pubescent, there's nothing to balance out the stylized oversized heads which makes them look out of proportion. in the words of jade jollie: "i would judge you on that body where them shoulders should match them hips but they don't." its that exact argument that makes them so off putting to collectors and its kind of the same issue with the fierce dolls, with the problem being the body sculpts. but with them, its basically that they lengthened all the body proportions without altering the joint sockets and pegs which prohibits there full range of motion, and given there larger stature from 9 to 13 inches, and additional joints, that shouldn't be a problem. i had been planning a project but had to scrap it once i got them because they just cant do anything. im sure the reason some people don't really mind it is probably there collections are more so just displays and décor or just niche art pieces, so articulation isn't the biggest deal and its more about convenience than anything else. however for kids or someone like me who does stop motion and photography, it renders them entirely useless and a waste of money. also with gen three of monster high people dont like that all the "gothness" is gone in favor of bright colors that make them feel more like just gen two with a new face sculpt. there missing that grungy, tim-burton-esc, hot topic, creepiness that was much more distinct in gen one. which gen three could have easily adapted had they just had any interest in that at all. however alternative fashion isn't as mainstream as "lululemon leggings" so there more inclined to go with that.
I like Roxy, but that price was ridiculous. I definitely loved the shadow high dolls and im excited about the new ones coming out. As for the rest of the list I agree...what a mess of a year for some dolls especially the MH debacle. Im still out here buying some. 🤭Pass on ALL the $100+ Barbies, those are not worth it to me. Thanks for the video. I love your reviews.
It's so funny because Shadow High series one on sale is what got me back into doll collecting and I detest it lol. Rainbow high was just a little to bright for me, and the fact they don't have typical skin colors like Monster High made me gravitate towards them.
LOL OMG Cleopatra is another disappointment that I'm slightly surprised no one mentioned. Many paint errors, odd choice of crown colour (rose gold) compared to accessories (gold), issues with the cape being sticky taped to the box (damage alert!). It is also being picked up to make custom Cleo De Nile by people and is largely available by online order only. So glad I happened to see one in person. So many FAILS in one doll is shocking. For $200AU it is terrible.
@@magdlynstrouble2036 She is coming up cheap on ebay also as people are off loading given how bad it is (also lots of hair tinsel). I found the doll itself to be overdone as a first impression seeing it in person. I've noticed quality control for some dolls is really terrible within some doll lines (Mina Fleur from Rainbow High is another one - every doll I saw across three different stores all had paint errors. I was mad.). If you really wanted to get it I'd ask for photos from the seller first. While she has heaps of accessories (which is great) if the paint is off on them you'll need to repaint a fair bit (also the cape being taped in the box is something to be careful of). I didn't find it at all worth it given the price point.
My main issue with monster high is the disgusting outfits. Girl that is NOT fashion!!!!!!!! I hear g3 mh collectors going on about how great they are, but on Instagram they all put rainbow high clothes on them. So are they really that great if you have to put another brands clothes on them to make them look cute?
It’s funny because for me & my daughter Shadow High was what made us start collecting dolls again so we ❤ them so much. I also love the Fierce dolls. As the G3 dolls it’s hard to have a positive outlook on them when it seems like they must send my small area all the extremely defective dolls ( we literally only have Walmart) I am too nervous to order any online for fear they too will have messed up faces , hair , or clothing. But I always look just in case they accidentally send us one that is nice looking maybe they figure West Virginia wouldn’t notice the eyes being different sizes and not symmetrical. Loved you views on all the dolls really looking forward to seeing the ones that put a sparkle in your eyes and pep in your step. Thank you so much for sharing and best wishes always..
While some G3 MH dolls are actually cute, the most disappointing thing about them is that some carry polypropylene hair, which is outrageous (same as some Barbie Extra dolls)! That hair fiber disintegrates by itself after 10 years or something.
I am SO glad you like g3 monster high! I don’t get why others don’t like em either. Some hate clawdeen being more nerdy now, some say the rep got worst (which is just like objectively not true), some people got REALLY upset that we didn’t get the prototype designs instead. Just a lot of different takes. But I got the dolls for Christmas and they’re SUCH good dolls! I’m playing with them right now! It’s a solid reboot! But they clearly wanted a continuation.
I see the people of the United States complaining about the price of dolls, but none of the collected ones talk about the abusive price that people from other countries pay, for example, in Brazil, a doll costs 150 Reais, which is more or less 70 or 60 dollars lol omg fierce she is literally 799.99 here in brazi
I remeber going to buy the g3 mh dolls only to find out they cost around 43-55 in canada despite only being 25 in america Same with thd howliday draculaura she costs 74 in canada but 44 in america
Why do I need sleeping aids when I can just look at any Barbie Style and fall asleep immediately because they are so boring. Roxie Grand was also a huge snoozefest. She's already $40 I know eventually she'll be $20 and under at this rate.
I think people are referencing the latest truly me release in ag because many of the hair and eye combinations are totally unnatural and they added painted eyelashes that some are not a fan of. I agree with a lot of the dolls on this list. 2022 wasn’t a great year for collectors I think between the releases themselves and the lack of availability of the releases people actually wanted but it was fun nonetheless ☺️ lol Great vid as always 👏
TBH, i love that Abbey has more body now, it really suits Yeti, even if I have some issues with her like boots (I do not like them that much) and her brown eyes kinda do not match like her purple ones before. (Yeah I know we don't have matching outfit eye colors, but just saying they did better before.) Othwerwise she's cute.
I have all the g3 dolls from monster high (except ghoulia I cant find her) and honestly my only problem is the body paint isnt sealed, so it scratches or rubs off if you dont seal it yourself
I'm sorry you can't find Ghoulia. I got her the day she was released at Target. An employee had to go dig her out of the stockroom for me. I was at Target 2 days ago and she was on the mostly empty shelf too!
I was someone trying to get the mark ryden bc its art (and i could afford to and spend my money how I wanted 🤷🏾♀️). I refreshed and at the time it was immediately “sold out” and i was crushed but found out later that was the site crashing and 30 minutes later it was functional. I dont like those dolls where you can rotate the container and i think dream ella needs to be put out her funny clone looking misery But i do like the mermaze and got them on super sale
Hi, Indigo. I wanted to share I cannot afford the Mark Ryden dolls, but I made my own using Barbie Extra #11- the doll I made was his "Nature Queen", which is not for sale. It cost me $79 to purchase every thing I needed to re-create my Nature Queen and she turned out beautifully. I used iron-on patches for my animal heads and he has about 30 heads and I have 10. You should chose the Mark Ryden doll you like and make your own. It is fun and relaxing to create your own OOAK. Have fun!!!
Anecdotally, I've seen American girl collectors explain that the new truly me dolls are upsetting because AG has stopped putting effort into quality historical outfits and sets and moved for more basic quick production truly me's with no story. Also lots of people ran Etsy businesses making custom colored wigs and this cuts into their business. Also for fucks sale mermaze dolls can't even fucking sit still.
Isnt it also due to the dyed hair? As truly me are meant to look like you but 8-12 yr olds dont have bright pink hair, it defeats the point of them being a mini you
@@brimarie4196 thats fair, im not an AG collector myself im simply echoing what i seen other influencers say about the new truly me dolls😅 I know alot of them are upset you cant take off the dyed parts of the hair
I’ve seen kids with dyed hair as well. I think it’s because a lot of parents are loosening up when it comes to hair and they also figure “might as well get it out of the way now” when they’re young and in school and don’t have to follow outdated rules of “professionalism” that say only natural hair colours are acceptable.
I am dissapointed with G3 monster high because i literally still cannot buy them in my country and I can’t afford to pay the crazy shipping prices even tho I really want them
I have to agree with the Mermaze dolls. I don't get the hype with them. 😅 I actually found all the Mermaid High dolls for cheap recently since they seemed similar to the Monster High and Ever After High dolls when it came to articulation and quality for me. Plus I can remove the tails...that is always a big thing for me.
I agree with you a lot of the problems with these houses the price point for what you get. I think some of these doll companies really have lost their mind
I love the LOL Fierce dolls. Was going to buy Royal Bee with my christmas money but NYE Queen was half price so nabbed her instead :) Fahionistas - I use those for head swaps and pactising customizing. I agree with the RH though, I got the white Diva instead as looks way more christmassy, has loads of acessories and cost me only £36!
Also thank you for pointing out how useless the creeproducations were, i see bratz fans say the preproducations mga has been making actually helped lower how expensive bratz dolls are on the second hand but mh?? All the creepproducationa did is make it worse-its still impossible to get any basic doll of the main ghouls I only got clawdeen because im into doll costimuzations and ordered tons of used monster high dolls-and one happened to be an original first wave clawdeen with elastics , so i just dressed her up with first wave clawdeen clothing i already had and shes nearly complete I am also someone who doesnt like the g3 dolls as much as g1 but its both due to issues with diversity in g3 and also just-idk they just lost their alt fashion, it feels too “”normie”” for me if anything frankie and draculaura are the best looking ones as they are still alt Id still buy some if i like them but cant deny their much more softer now and its just not for me
Yeah there’s going to be different reactions and preferences all I’ve the doll collecting community and yeah the Bratz pricing has chilled a little bit.
@@JeffreySteinmanReviews honestly yeah, i still think the g3 dolls are the best part of g3 but they just dont got that same edge I heard even for felica dolls the pricing has begin to calm down because of the recent preproducation being made of her, its why im fine with MGA making more preproducations-mattel tho its utterly useless cause they refuse to actually make them accesible
@@JeffreySteinmanReviews honestly that would be so ideal-i only slightly get why dolls like rainbow high are more pricy as unlike barbie RH are actual expensive dolls, they got insaine detail on them and materials Mattel has no excuse, its either they overprice a 15$ doll or make it impossible for people to actually buy them
I wanted the Queen doll.. still want the queen doll.. But not because she's the queen I want her because she's an Old Lady and I needs me some elderly in my collection.
Not every doll will appeal to every person and it's okay to have individual tastes. I like a lot Shadow High but not all of them. I wish Series 1 and now Series 2 were more alternative, but I'm crafty and no one can stop me from making Heather a Krampus costume. She haunts my shelf at this holiday time. Roxie was bad though. What a boring and overpriced holiday doll.
The thing I found interesting about the Paris Hilton doll is that people were upset (as they should be) about (hopefully) the past designer with rainbow high. He made some racist remarks and rants and clearly that's not okay but somehow people were okay with Paris... To this day I don't understand...
My Mattel orders haven’t even been fulfilled so I’m just hoping I still like them after taking so long. 😮😅 FOMO is too real. Thanks for the thoughts and honest opinions!
Barbie “Collector” dolls are just trash nowadays. They are cheap fashionista dolls in a cheap fashion. Like the Instagram sets you mentioned. It’s a fashionista doll with a cheap fashion or cheap piece of furniture and at over $100?!?! These are NOT collector dolls anymore!! Are Barbie collectors really ok??? Lol. Such embarrassing quality. I’m not even buying new collector barbies. I’m buying ones from the early to mid 2000s that I haven’t managed to get yet. That was Barbies golden era for collecting. I LOVE your honest opinions. Most you tubers hype these new dolls up so much and for what?!?
Did you Notice.... I did! This years black friday sales, christmas sales, and boxing day sales... Mattel did not have a significant Barbie Sale; usually There is a 40% off all Barbie, or a 50% off, get up to 60% off Barbie.... NOTHING this year!!! WTF Mattel. Dolls should not cost this much to get good quality. For Christmas my daughter bought me my Second Barbie Extra (never unboxed the first one I found for $15 on kijiji) I unboxed her and the quality of the clothing is what I expect for Fashion Avenue, The doll was beautiful but I can't justify paying $39.99-$49.99 per doll. RIDICULOUS!
i ALSO Just bought 4 Barbie extra dolls for $40, 4 for $40. and I like them for the articulation and some fashion pieces but not altogether the way Mattel Fashion Creators fucked up a pretty face with horrendous colors... Give us real everyday clothes for a decent price and stop coloring everything random hair colors random fashion colors..
The Barbie style dolls were the biggest disappointment for me. The creators had the opportunity to do something great and they gave us plain, boring dolls. They are half price here in the UK and I'm still not getting any 😡😡😡
Just recently found your channel and its amazing! Really enjoyed the video :) I really like g3 monster high too and it seems like I’ll be finally able to get them here in the Netherlands :D
Agree with a lot of these but...I LOVE Shadow High! They're so different and sooo cool! But I'm a sucker for uniquely awesome things. If you look at lines like Novi Stars, which very few people liked when they first came out, but are now more popular and collectable because of their uniqueness. Like Novi Stars, I think in the future Shadow High are going to be highly collectable because of their uniqueness. Another underrated doll line that has gained more fans now that you can't get them are Star Darlings. They are beautiful and highly underrated. They are actually what once again jump-started my doll collecting when they and Monster High started getting clearanced out at Walmart and Target.
I like the Tweens they are cute but I have gotten them for half off or more the same for the RH jr. line. I want to get Max Wonder which is odd for me because I don't buy boy dolls.
I like many boy dolls and I will get him on clearance because I adore kilts on men/boys! And I love non-binary representation, which he seems to be because of the nail polish too.
HOW is G3 monster high number 5??? Like seriously, wake tf out of your nostalgia- these dolls are so pretty and have so much character. And I’m brand new to monster high as of gen 3. And i love the draculaura body- i wish they did even more different bodies because she honestly looks so cute.
I agree that most Barbie play sets shouldn’t bother with the cheap crappy dolls. Especially when they have weird half assed articulation (like only knees or elbows instead of both)
Number 500 like. I totally get it. You know right before you mentioned the glorious racoon face I noticed the quality. I got a 2008ish 9ish Avon Barbie with the model muse body and racoon makeup Aphrodite face sculpt with a side glance I was hooked. Get this I got her for only $39.00 on Amazon 2 yrs ago from a mom and pop shop! Now they will charge $150 for the same doll.
Disney fans want different, but they don't want too different kinda sums it up. I get complaints about the prices. But the complaints about for example Belle not being Belle enough were odd. Her dress is an homage to the rose and her bag looks like a book and her hair also wasn't completely removed from the OG. I bough her cause I not only loved the idea but was glad to have a Belle which isn't in a golden gown. Well with Disney and other nostalgic properties you can't please everyone
@@JeffreySteinmanReviews also I think Cinderella was so well received because the outfit didn't strive too far from the OG. I doubt they will try projects like the designer dolls again which is sad. I actually appreciated they trying something that sticks out. I have many Cinderellas in blue and belles in gold so something new was thrilling (at least with belle)
I do not understand the polemic either. If Disney collectors already have more than one, accurate to the movie princess, they can add with these some quirk to their collection. I find them fenomenal on their own and a really well achieved designers' job. Mérida could be my favourite.
@@anacalderon2141 oh yes, the Merida one was lovely as well. I only got the first ariel and rapunzel cause they match my shelves and Belle cause she's my favorite. Merida would've been certainly one I would've gotten to if the price tag wasn't so high.
@@FillaneAmmisto They probably won't. Disney put out those 150 dollar wedding Snow White and Jasmines and collectors are already saying they like them more. People said they hated the price point but I think they actually hated the idea of the designers taking risks.
I never wanted a Muerte doll - Yeah I've never bought a Rainbow High Jr. but they are cute - they just would look small near the other ones. I bought the black shadow high doll LOVE HER.
I love your anger and disgust. I didn't get to vote on your other social media, but I agree with many of these, except that I love the Tweens, I'm ok with Barbie Extra (I've only bought 2 or 3 tho, including the Fancy pink dress iconic one), and I like G3 MH, and bought them all full price, except for Frankie (i love that they're trans, but I can't with the short neck!). I even got the Target exclusive Ghoulia the first day she came out and had an employee dig her out of the stock room. I didn't buy any LOL Fierce dolls, even on clearance, because I prefer these particular dolls as the original OMGs. I might get Candylicious on clearance, whenever that happens.
I like the Barbie Extra dolls for the most part. I have 7 Barbie Extras, and so far none of them had production issues. I prefer their type of articulation to the MTM body, as they display high heels so much better. What I hate about them are the stupid pets, they’re a waste of plastic to me as they’re not even to scale. But I get that kids seem to like them. A few of the Barbie Extras have amazing outfits, my favorite being the Raquelle (Asian) doll with the silver suit. If you don’t have that doll you definitely need to get her. Haven’t seen that good quality clothes from Mattel in ages. Her pizza purse was really stupid and doesn’t go with the outfit though. Also I hated that most of the curvy dolls had flat feet. Why can’t curvies look fierce in their high heels just like the skinnies? Anyway I hope they make some kind of ‘extra’ line with that kind of articulation, but with more realistic fashions and better quality accessories.
As cute and pretty as Paris Hilton's doll is, I really wonder why they chose Paris Hilton of all people..? I could see if they chose a more relevant star or influencer to make a special doll of now, but a lot of kids today aren't going to know who she is since they didn't exist back in the early 2000s.
I'm so so so so happy you mentioned Draculaura because I think she's my favorite doll of this year ( minus some of my BJDs ), as a plus size doll collector I think normalizing fed bodies is so important.
Wake up babe it's time for 20 doll disappontments of 2022
Let’s go!
G3 Monster High having some of the worst takes from the doll community this year...whether it be Frankie's pronouns, Draculaura's body type and Lagoona's stereotypical personality... just so many wild opinions and accusations flying around. Like it's so exhausting

It’s making some nervous about the future of AG especially since the new line was released alongside a $500 ish dollhouse that is definitely not worth it in my opinion. I’m on the fence about The Who,e thing but a lot of collectors are not a fan.
Thanks for the explanation.
I'll never understand what's going on
I feel really bad for you Europeans and Aussies!
My kiddo was excited about Draculaura being "human sized" and was excited about getting her.
Me too! Dedicated G1 collector here, but when I saw Draculaura's G3 doll, I couldn't say no.
I love when you do these videos because it shows how certain lines are just really polarizing. Like people either love or hate Shadow High, or love or hate the Tweens, for example.
Right? Sometimes it’s so 50/50
Paid 200$ for older Barbie collector dolls on the second market later because the quality and detail was there. But not for the crap they come out with today.
Yeah it’s crazy to think about.
I'm not into gothic stuff, but I want to buy her, reroot her, and repaint her into a fairy.
you're becoming one of my fav collectors here.
Haha I’m glad!
Like compared to g2 they are a MASSIVE improvment but just not to the same extent as g1, i agree with alot of people saying it just feels like barbie but with unnatrual skin tones and animal ears they keep overusing pink on every character and it gets exhuasting
G1 has many quality issues but i didnt mind as the dolls still looked pretty great-i actually liked the fashion and how it focused on alt culture instead of appeling to everyone, plus it ended up in other great monster and alt focused doll lines like novi stars and bratzillas being made too
I think there are g3 dolls who have the same spirit as g1 like draculaura and frankie(esp in the two pack with deuce) but its overall much more softer
Yeah, I think the dolls are cute but I’d be wasting money cause I’d just be redressing them in RH/SH/LOL clothes and throwing out the ones they come with.
Controversial opinion: I personally think Gen 3 monster high looks better than Gen1, especially draculara not to mention the quality
I kind of agree. The base dolls are much much better. But the designs themselves are hit or miss for me.
My dream monster high would be the gen 1 monster high designs on the g3 monster high bodies.
@@Moonlitwatersofaqua now THAT would be interesting!
Yeah although they have slightly more effect out into them than others they still are very much current day Mattel dolls
The only thing that physically showed up on my stores was the cheer sets
I actually got my two first shadow high girls on christmas from my brother and honestly i enjoyed them far more then junior high-i held natasha for one second and i instantly knew shes gonna be my most favorite one of the bunch
I only have poppy from junior high and shes cute but she got no stand and i just dont feel connected to her
Tho mayb im bias bcus im more into gothic and alt dolls so shadow high appels to me more-there are some RH dolls i ADORE like lila but overall..shadow high is more my taste
I have Poppy I have her sitting on one of the Devious Twins boxes. I got Violet as well plan on getting Bella when she goes down in price.
Making Lagoona pink was a really poor aesthetic choice on Mattel’s part and it’s being reflected in her sales numbers
so as an omg collector I can defiantly explain why people shit on the tweens and fierce dolls:
so essentially the issue lies within the body molds for the dolls, which is just awful.
the tweens dolls have some of the best tier designs and one of the best concepts with the "wonderland" costume line. but simply put, because of the fact that there tweens, and are distinctly pre pubescent, there's nothing to balance out the stylized oversized heads which makes them look out of proportion. in the words of jade jollie: "i would judge you on that body where them shoulders should match them hips but they don't." its that exact argument that makes them so off putting to collectors
and its kind of the same issue with the fierce dolls, with the problem being the body sculpts. but with them, its basically that they lengthened all the body proportions without altering the joint sockets and pegs which prohibits there full range of motion, and given there larger stature from 9 to 13 inches, and additional joints, that shouldn't be a problem. i had been planning a project but had to scrap it once i got them because they just cant do anything. im sure the reason some people don't really mind it is probably there collections are more so just displays and décor or just niche art pieces, so articulation isn't the biggest deal and its more about convenience than anything else. however for kids or someone like me who does stop motion and photography, it renders them entirely useless and a waste of money.
also with gen three of monster high people dont like that all the "gothness" is gone in favor of bright colors that make them feel more like just gen two with a new face sculpt. there missing that grungy, tim-burton-esc, hot topic, creepiness that was much more distinct in gen one. which gen three could have easily adapted had they just had any interest in that at all. however alternative fashion isn't as mainstream as "lululemon leggings" so there more inclined to go with that.
Thanks for sharing your interesting opinions! Yes, the G3 MHs don't even look like monsters anymore, just regular teenagers.
Shadow High was the line that FINALLY got me started collecting RH dolls. I was pretty indifferent before that
I died hearing you say “he’s a cute little f*ggot or whatever” 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
(It’s because it’s true 😂)
Haha that’s why I bought one
It's so funny because Shadow High series one on sale is what got me back into doll collecting and I detest it lol. Rainbow high was just a little to bright for me, and the fact they don't have typical skin colors like Monster High made me gravitate towards them.
Yeah they definitely have an appeal
LOVE your videos. Hope you are enjoying your down time.
Haha thanks it’s been weird not being busy.
Oh wow. I was tempted to get her on US Amazon at $59 (as I think she is now), but I didn't realize she tended to have so many defects!
@@jessiedestro7671 thank you so much for the pro tips! I got Mina Fleur on sale and she's fine, at least!
@@magdlynstrouble2036 No worries. Glad to hear it. I'm still on the look out.
Doll disappointment is the ridiculous prices
Queen Elizabeth at that age was a curvy girl, but Mattel gave her the Helen Mirren body. No.
Mattel doesn’t know how to create women of a certain age
I never understood why they didn't give her the curvy body.
The doll went through pre production and nobody noticed.
She actually looked alot like Helen Miren.
While some G3 MH dolls are actually cute, the most disappointing thing about them is that some carry polypropylene hair, which is outrageous (same as some Barbie Extra dolls)! That hair fiber disintegrates by itself after 10 years or something.
just found your channel great video🌈🤗 subscribed🎀❤️🎀
Haha thanks
I’ve been extremely disappointed in Barbie the past couple years. I haven’t purchased anything new since they discontinued silkstones
Thank you for this beautifully made video!!! You rock!!!
I remeber going to buy the g3 mh dolls only to find out they cost around 43-55 in canada despite only being 25 in america
Same with thd howliday draculaura she costs 74 in canada but 44 in america
She just looks like she’s fed 😂😂😂 it’s so true though. Omg Draculaura eats 3 meals a day woOoOoOo
Honestly idk if i can even say she looks fed, if you look at her body her waist matches her g1 self, its mainly the hips that are massive now
Why do I need sleeping aids when I can just look at any Barbie Style and fall asleep immediately because they are so boring.
Roxie Grand was also a huge snoozefest. She's already $40 I know eventually she'll be $20 and under at this rate.
So many of my favorite dolls are on this list 😅 I hope you had a great holiday!
Haha the favorites list has parallels to this list so hopefully some end up there too.
The price for maria is absolutely obscene
It’s way too much and for what?
Wow!! I just opened my yt and this was just posted. 😂😂 I can’t wait. Lol
That’s good to know cause I’m not an AG collector so my insight is limited.
9:40 but seriously! Someone explain.😫 Honestly, if I ever saw one in my local Walmart or target, I would just cry in the isles. 😂
This hairstyle looks amazing on you, keep it!
Thanks for the video! ❤
In rainbow high jr’s defense I get them for my boyfriends little sister as his mom likes the more child-like style of that gen for her age :))
That makes sense to me
All fair with exception of G3 MH. These are always so much fun.🎉😂
Have fun!!!
@@sharonkaysnowton that is a good idea! Thank you for sharing. 💜
As truly me are meant to look like you but 8-12 yr olds dont have bright pink hair, it defeats the point of them being a mini you
@@Man-wolf- Idk I know plenty of 8-12 year olds with bright dyed hair.
@@brimarie4196 thats fair, im not an AG collector myself im simply echoing what i seen other influencers say about the new truly me dolls😅
I know alot of them are upset you cant take off the dyed parts of the hair
20:23 anyone else feel like they would’ve been OBSESSED with these dolls if their tails had been fully poseable?
Mattel keeps making me more and more angry. I'm so tired of them
I agree with you a lot of the problems with these houses the price point for what you get. I think some of these doll companies really have lost their mind
I like the Mermaze dolls!! And Shadow High too. And I have to get those Mark Ryden dolls. How gorgeous are they?
I love the LOL Fierce dolls. Was going to buy Royal Bee with my christmas money but NYE Queen was half price so nabbed her instead :)
Fahionistas - I use those for head swaps and pactising customizing.
All the creepproducationa did is make it worse-its still impossible to get any basic doll of the main ghouls
I only got clawdeen because im into doll costimuzations and ordered tons of used monster high dolls-and one happened to be an original first wave clawdeen with elastics , so i just dressed her up with first wave clawdeen clothing i already had and shes nearly complete
I am also someone who doesnt like the g3 dolls as much as g1 but its both due to issues with diversity in g3 and also just-idk they just lost their alt fashion, it feels too “”normie”” for me if anything frankie and draculaura are the best looking ones as they are still alt
Id still buy some if i like them but cant deny their much more softer now and its just not for me
Yeah there’s going to be different reactions and preferences all I’ve the doll collecting community and yeah the Bratz pricing has chilled a little bit.
@@JeffreySteinmanReviews honestly yeah, i still think the g3 dolls are the best part of g3 but they just dont got that same edge
I heard even for felica dolls the pricing has begin to calm down because of the recent preproducation being made of her, its why im fine with MGA making more preproducations-mattel tho its utterly useless cause they refuse to actually make them accesible
@@Man-wolf- I wish for like a year we all just collectively decided to not buy second hand and then force them to reduce prices.
@@JeffreySteinmanReviews man, that would be awesome.
@@JeffreySteinmanReviews honestly that would be so ideal-i only slightly get why dolls like rainbow high are more pricy as unlike barbie RH are actual expensive dolls, they got insaine detail on them and materials
Mattel has no excuse, its either they overprice a 15$ doll or make it impossible for people to actually buy them
I wish the shadow high boy doll was a tiny bit darker of a grey so he could pass as a Dunmer if I sculpted elf ears on him.
G3 draculaura is cute like a whole different stand alone doll, he body is more aesthetically pleasing imo. The rest of g3 is a snooze
Lol. Pretty much all on point. For me, I get the direction and love the G3 MH line though.
I’ve been into G3 for the most part
RIDICULOUS!
Woof! Lmbo Love your videos! Keep it up!
Haha thank you
I surprise the fidget dolls aren’t here lol
Hi Doll Daddy - love you - hope you had a Merry Christmas and have a Happy New Year!
i ALSO Just bought 4 Barbie extra dolls for $40, 4 for $40. and I like them for the articulation and some fashion pieces but not altogether the way Mattel Fashion Creators fucked up a pretty face with horrendous colors... Give us real everyday clothes for a decent price and stop coloring everything random hair colors random fashion colors..
I love monster high g3 ! So I’m glad u do too!
Yeah I’ve been happy with them so far.
The Mermaze dolls OMG love them! Theres nothing like opening one of them!
22:59 i saw her at the shops and I think she looks really pretty in person. So I think they just didn’t take good pictures of her.
i love your sweater. i have the exact same one and now i feel like wearing it.
Gen 3 monster high is amazing I'm obessed with it
That’s good! There’s a lot of good there.
The Barbie style dolls were the biggest disappointment for me. The creators had the opportunity to do something great and they gave us plain, boring dolls. They are half price here in the UK and I'm still not getting any 😡😡😡
Hahaa my guess for #1 was right- and deserved lol
Dude I'm actively looking for Novi Stars
Especially when they have weird half assed articulation (like only knees or elbows instead of both)
Mermaze dolls are $60-80 here and never go on sale 🙃
Oooof
@JeffreySteinmanReviews maybe when they get cancelled the price will drop 😅 not like they're flying off shelves or anything lol

Another banger episode. I also love Shadow High, haters go boo.
Roxy looks like Ariana Grande from her “No Tears Left to Cry”
Disney fans want different, but they don't want too different kinda sums it up. I get complaints about the prices.
But the complaints about for example Belle not being Belle enough were odd. Her dress is an homage to the rose and her bag looks like a book and her hair also wasn't completely removed from the OG. I bough her cause I not only loved the idea but was glad to have a Belle which isn't in a golden gown.
Well with Disney and other nostalgic properties you can't please everyone
Yeah Disney merch demographics are really finicky
She's on the show. She is the principal of Pacific High.
I'm so so so so happy you mentioned Draculaura because I think she's my favorite doll of this year ( minus some of my BJDs ), as a plus size doll collector I think normalizing fed bodies is so important.
