  • Removing the background of images is quite tricky. However, gimp has some excellent tools to get the job done efficiently. In this video, I am going to demonstrate how to remove the background in Gimp using a scissors select tool and layer mask.
    Thanks

    Thank you. I appreciate that you kept this tutorial quick and simple, and that you did not rush through your instructions. Also, I like the way you made it easy for my eyes to follow along, because you limited the movement of your cursor. It was very easy for me to follow along. Thank you.

    After I am done outlining with my Scissor tool, why is the enter key not producing any results? Like what should i do next if the Enter Key doesnt give me a rough cutout of my subject? I will be grateful for your promt reply!

      Sorry for the late response. To cut on Mac, you can use the 'Command' + 'X' shortcut. Alternatively, go to the 'Edit' menu and select 'Cut' from there. I hope this helps. Thanks

    im interested in the opposite of this... how to remove a checkered background from existing image.

    Why is it when I'm cutting out after I've worked on it for a few minutes and painstakingly cut around an irregular shape it suddenly links point 1 with the last point and there is no way of undoing the last action? It just deletes the entire 5-10 minutes work!!! I've tried about 6 or 7 times to cut out a dog shape and I'm tearing my hair out! There must be a way to undo the link up? Any answers would be well appreciated!

      If I understand the issues you are facing, I suggest you use the Paths tool to get better and more accurate results. If you don't know how to use paths tools, please consider watching a video on it on this channel. Thanks

      @@LivingImage Many thanks for your time and reply. I should have been more clear about that I was using the Free Select Tool, I've just familiarised myself with the Scissors tool and so far seems a lot better and a lot less frustrating! Thanks

    Yo! I can do what you showed, but when I remove the image´s background, it becomes red instead of showing what´s behind. How can I fix it?

    • @LivingImage
      @LivingImage  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Make sure that you select the alpha channel first before you remove the background.

      @LivingImage thanks! I found another tutorial video and finally got there,but I had to restart my project 1000 times. This time I made sure I had a alpha layer and shit.
      I want to export it as a YT thumbnail, so 16:9. How do I know the outlines? I started it is as a 16:9? The yellow dotted line?
      Thanks again

    But it takes a lifetime with the risk of making mistakes. Couldn't you make a tutorial on the background remover plugin?

      Yes, gimp is not as fast as other paid workflows, but it serves the purpose anyway.
