- Test footage for an uncompleted Ray Harryhausen project showcasing dinosaur animation. The project was abandoned after Ray saw Fantasia (1940) with it's T-Rex sequence. He got discourage feeling all the beats he wanted to do were "done beautifully" in Fantasia, abandoning his then 2 years of work on the project. However, the footage would be used as a sample for his later works such as The Beast of 20,000 Fathoms (Which inspired the creation of Godzilla), Clash of the Titans (1981), and The Valley of Gwangi to name a few.

What you're looking at is work done 80+ years ago of a project by Ray Harryhausen.
Ray was a brilliant pioneer. A visionary like no other.
It all started since young. He already become a filmmaker in middle school.
His dinosaurs stop motions are my favorites
Loved that bit at the End where the T-Rex Roared at the Camera.
The thought of T Rex being able to leap around like that is quite terrifying
I think its an allosaurus
The soundtrack is great, the stop motion is great and man, that jump scare and the fight was awesome! Holy shit.
Evolution of the World (1940)
- Brontosaurus
-Tyrannosaurus Rex
- Triceratops
- Unidentified carcass (Possibly Trachodon or a small bird-like dinosaur?)
I think it's definitely a hadrosaur of some sorts
Might be ray harryhausen in his true form
Nice special effects
The hopping T-Rex was my favorite part.
This is basically a one man TH-cam animated short of this times
I love the way the tyrannosaurus' tail moves like a gecko's tail!! 😍😊
Epic
Sharptooth roar
👏
When T-Rex jumps in the scene is exactly the same pose & animation as in King Kong. (Courtesy of animator Willis O Brien)
Nice Harryhausen work! Is that theropod supposed to be a T. rex or Allosaurus? The three fingers make me think Allosaurus, but it attacking a Triceratops makes me think T. rex.
Correct on both ones.
Probably T. rex. For a while, it was believed the third finger had just been missing in the fossil.
That looks like the Trex King Kong ****ED UP
The T.rex sounds like the original SharpTooth from The Land Before Time
Rays work over CGI any day for me.
What is the music in this short? Was it part of the original, or something you added?
1:36 This is where the T.Rex “Tyrannosaurus Rex” Comes In.

Slow it down and reveal some secrets used to prop up the models on certain actions that would require them to not simply fall flat to the ground.
Yes, he used a combination of little braces underneath to hold poses and aerial wire braces from above.
Triseratops 1940
None of the dinosaurs appear to have feathers.
That theory developed 50 years after this film was created.
@@allanalogmusicat78rpm Well, archaeopteryx was discovered in Solnhofen, Germany in 1861. It was soon realized it had feathers and was a dinosaur.
This was made back people didn't knew much about dinosaurs back then
Weirdest fucking thing you could comment on something like this.
