You bring so much joy in these depressing times, I don't think you know how much it is appreciated. I have been to Turkey many times and have always experienced the same hospitality. just can't get enough of you guys, thank you.I wish I could afford to become a patreon bud sadly I can't.
*Hi Marianne & Chris ~ glad you made Troy ... in the 90s I remember there were Americans excavating it ... It seems that dig is finished now and since then they tied it up a lot .... The road to Canakkale was I remember at least an hour there wasn't a museum then nor the camping sites to be seen .. Amazing transformation ... Infact you are lucky to have the site to yourself otherwise it is a busy location with plenty of tourists and backpackers.... Horse is same horse in the middle ... I've seen then ..I still have its picture on the postcard... Apparently they placed 40 warriors inside ... Incidentally you could climb inside to see the arrangement as far as I remember ... All nice and epic.... Probably Jason & Argonauts visited there as well on their way to find the Golden Fleece in Giresun (?) in Black Sea Coast ... At least 2 ~ 3 000 years ago .. Hundreds of generations back ... Incredible history ... *Deserve to be an World Heritage Site no doubt ...*
Hi again Marianne & Chris... :) Nice camp place in Troy.. you can see the change inn weather now, so its jacket time now!! Really interesting listening to the stories of troy. Reminding me of my Greek History lessons at school!! What a great place to visit, and the temple of Athena looked really cool! Great views too. The museum is lovely. so interesting, and learning so much about the past....The town of 'Troya' is so cool... loved the buildings, ( oh yes...and the lovely dogs!!).. Thanks again to you both. See you next time.. Have fun D & A xx
I know they dogs are gorgeous !! there are all sorts of strays and street dogs, some more friendly and others just happy to have some dinner !! but we are loving having lots of street animal companionship for sure 🚐🤗💜
I always enjoy your museum tours. They leave me wanting more. I suppose I'm just going to have to go to Turkey myself some day, Covid-19 willing and the creek don't rise. (In New Mexico, our dry bed creeks rise with a good thunderstorm.)
As an Archaeologist and Historian, I highly enjoyed this episode! Now the story with the trojan Horse, Helen and Aphrodite were from a writing by Homer, a Greek writer from Antiquity but who lived quite long after the Trojan Wars. It is nonetheless a Legend, which, contrarily to a Tale, base itself on real facts (and puts some romantic or magical twist to it- but many of what was written in Homer's Illiad concorded with the discoveries)
Hi Chris and Marianne. Have got our newly converted Sprinter back to northern Cyprus from the UK, but now I am in a weeks quarantine. Tornados yesterday!....Love you guys. Soon to rejoin my wife Carolyn in our villa, sell up and will be back into Turkey after Christmas. Stay happy and free!.....Very best wishes. Tony and Carolyn. :) x
I'm really enjoying watching every bits of episodes of this wonderful channel. I'm happy that you guys visited my birthplace. I hope that you enjoyed the Troy! :)
Mehmed II the conquerer of Konstantinapoli was obsessed with Iliad, he red it many many times. and trojans were the first asiatic nation invaded by greeks. So being an asiatic king when he captured byzantine capital he said " finally i have the revenge of Troj".
I love the idea of a Christmas video from St Nicholas' home town. We have had to cancel our annual Christmas trip because of Covid and we're looking for cheerful things to see and do socially distanced.
Been there 2016. Watching your vlog brings back memories. I can’t explain the feeling when i was there. Same feelings i am having now while watching. Thanks
Whenever I watch you videos I remember a tekst about na elderly English lady who bought a van and travelled around America and Africa. When asked how she felt when she visited a new place, she said: "I say to myself just look and look, in case you never come here again!" Today, when we are deprived of enjoying life, we can se how much truth was there in her words. Keep travelling, because we are travelling with you🙂
It's funny, it seems people always talk about the Americans and how much we display and have pride in our flag . . . but I think Turkey may have us beat! I've thought that the last couple videos. Now to start googling up info on Troy and Helen of Troy! Thanks:)
Really enjoying your channel, picked it up about 6 weeks back, find it a really easy watch and quite educational especially the anzacs episode, just enjoyed the Troy episode, thanks.
