When I moved to the other side of the state, it took me quite a while to get over homesickness. Like you, learning my way around and finding places I liked helped a lot. The thing that helped me most was finding a group of friends that I had a lot in common with. When I found the local fiber arts group and made friends there, it really helped.
Left home in 2008...once in a while the longing for home comes back...I lay down on the grass or on a park bench and look at the sky...sky looks closer to the sky of past...or how it used to look from my rooftop when I was a kid. Sometimes that's all you can do.
I left my home from 2022 in June because of our country’s military situation. I always returned home at least twice in a year. When I had a nap today, I misheard our neighborhood grandmother’s name who was calling in front of her house. I was so delighted at that moment. I am at home:’(. But this is a dream or maybe my mishearing from my room. I’m really homesick. All of my friends returned their home but I can’t. War is the worst thing I ever had. However, I’m from Myanmar.
