I've also heard many Jews were drafted into The Prussian/Hessian Army from German principalities to fight as mercenaries for England in the American Revolutionary War. Jews had to take longer sentences in Military service. The muster roles of Hessian Troops show many possibly Jewish/German names (Osterman etc.) and there is evidence many stayed in the U.S. after the war either by deserting or being captured.

My Ashkenazi great-grandmother on my father side arrived in Cuba in the 1800 some of her family members, later made their way up to New Orlean The first to arrive in Cuba from Portugal 1506+- my mother's grandmother arrived in Cuba from Morocco thru the Cannery Island in early 1800s and my children made it back to Israel 2014 B'H

Very similar to my family's experience. My Mother's side is Cuban/Haitian....and we have both Ashkenazi and Sephardic ancestry.

Love this. My 4th grandfather was Solomon Cohen Peixotto who migrated from Curaçao to St Thomas to Charleston where he died in 1835. He was the Chazzan there till he died. His tombstone calls him Rev; what is that?

AncestryDNA test of my Puerto Rican father shows -
He's mostly of Spanish ancestry, with some Basque and Portuguese.
No surprises there.
The surprise - 2% Jewish DNA.
There's a Converso in our past, who made it to Puerto Rico :)
No surprises on Mom's side - 100% Ashkenazi.

The carthegenians and canaanites both would travel to Puerto Rico for trade. They have found ancient artifacts with Jewish inscriptions.

Puerto Rico is diverse with different ethnicities and ancestries. To say “Puerto Ricans are Jews” is a loaded statement. However, to reframe it, there certainly was/is a Jewish presence on the Island

Well that’s not accurate. To say that some Puerto Ricans are descended from Jews or to say some Puerto Ricans have Jewish Great Grandmas is True. Also there are modern day Puerto Rican Jews.
