Thanks buddy, you helped me decide on the choice of a microphone. In fact, there are not many reviews on a 100 model. But your review is the best. I was just standing between P120 vs 100 vs Se X1 A. For my money, I think this microphone has the best sound. Even the comes up ratio quality/price. Thx again.
Nice video mate, thanks for making it and thanks for putting so much effort into the production value of your reviews. In respect to the P100, there’s at least one bloke that reviews mics on TH-cam that absolutely worships this mic for its smooth and flattering response curve - and have seen a number of other positive reviews about the same mic. How would you rate this mic as compared to an AT2020 and an MXL 900? All three mics cost about the same in Australia, second-hand so would love your opinion of how each sounds and a how you would rank them. My intention is to use the mostly to capture dialogue in video (they can be in frame). Again, thanks mate and keep up the excellent work. Steve.
I enjoy watching your fun, crazy personality, man. 🤣😂🤣😂👍🏼🫵🏼 Additionally, there’s this guy here on TH-cam who says the P100 is very much a mic that sounds like a Neumann U87. Now… I don’t know about that, but the frequency chart does look kinda similar. Anywaaaaaaaaaay… you got a great buy on the thing… which always feels great. Right?!
I use akg p100 for bass amp miking..recording… superb!! its sounded the same like what my ear heard from the amp.. i compared with my AT2035 and Sennheiser e602 … they captured not exactly what the amp sounded..
Gut Punch News I usually only put music in that I produced myself, I am pretty sure everything to this point has been mine, but sadly, this one is off epidemic sound. Which is a subscription based service with copyright free songs for TH-cam.
Hi, wow, thanks a lot for all the work you put into those videos I find them awesome! The Videos are so analytical, answer all my questions and the comparison videos actually have an A/B part. Perfect! (And I like that you criticize the same aspects of the mics that I noticed in your tests, so might be a bit conformation bias speaking here, but hey. ^^) I just went through your videos and liked them. (Not fishing for thanks here, but I need to emphasise that you deserve way more Subscribers.) Do you have an Amazon affiliate account? Sooooooooooooooo, you planning on keeping it?.... ***hint hint.. And it sounds freaking great, a lot better than the p120
@@antoineinniss5586 Yeah dude... it will come out eventually. I am just kind of struggling to release the HTDZ review because technically the VidPro is a more "popular" mic (from what I have seen).... And that is my least growing video. @@AudioHotline well now I know....thanks for the heads up bro.....Hey can you check email and give me a response ...I need to to show my dad your confirmation, figure wise....this man is going by he sees and not what he hears .......Hey did you get any response from the other winner?
You just rated and gave an A to a microphone for making your voice sound manlier while punishing the other mic for making your voice loose bass xD hard to tell which mic is lying the most about your voice though :D P120 has the clarity, which I think is great, EQ away the clarity/highs as you said, its harder to introduce any clarity with EQ in a muddier mic like the P100....but its maybe just a bit too lacking in the lows, but the p100 is lacking clarity....
If you have the time, could you recommend a usb mic for podcasting in an "unknown" environment? (Or if someone else has an opinion...) I narrowed down my selection to these two: (but feel free to suggest a different one :) AT2020 Usb+ (80€) Samson Q2U (45€) (Prices up to 90€ (used) are ok for this occasion, no need to factor them into the decision.) Recording will take place in a room in a shared flat, not sound treated. My mind tells me the dynamic Samson is the safer bet but I like the richness of the AT a lot. Do you think one would "get away" with using the condenser? (I only do live audio stuff and have very few experience in recording voice in smaller rooms...) Thanks a lot in advance!
Dirk B. In an unknown environment I would absolutely pick a dynamic mic, due to the fact that it will help cut out room noise and any other possible unwanted noises. So my recommendation would be, without a doubt, the Samson Q2U! It is a fantastic mic, well worth the money! Condenser mics are great about having a nice richness to them, but if the audio quality is getting degraded by room noise (reverb) that a condenser is picking up then the dynamic, without the richness, would sound better in the long run anyway. BUT another option, if you REALLY want the condenser... buy some moving blankets and wherever you record, try to set them up and kill some of that possible noise. Hope this helps!!!
Focus on making your voice distinct not deep. The p120 is much better microphone than the p100 for PROFESSIONAL singers and voice artists, actors etc if you naturally have a deep voice like James Earl Jones, Sylvester Stallone or a singing voice like Barry White or Johnny Cash. Research what microphones they used to capture their voices all of them. And the sound signature is much closer to the p120 than the p100. Focus on making your voice distinct not deep. The p100 is better for speaking if you naturally do not have a deep or raspy voice and that's what you want, because it unnaturally boosts the lower mid range, and has a more boxy sound with a greater proximity effect. Focus on making your voice distinct not deep. If I heard you speak in real life, like how your mother or close friends recognise your voice, if you recorded into both mics and asked them which one do I sound more like in everyday life everyone would say the p120. As it represents your real voice more. This review has been about how you would like to sound and how the p100 helps you achieve this, like autotune helps a bad singer sound."better" or Photoshop Snapchat makes people look better. Most amateur male TH-camrs would agree the p100 makes your and their voices sound more "RADIO" better. My advice accept your voice the way it is and train it, like Morgan Freeman did his and other actors, singers etc In the same way the guitar recorded with the p120 sounds more like your guitar does in the room real. Youu would go further with wanting to capture your voice the way it is naturally and get a voice coach to work on it, accept it and improve like any professional singer or news reader does A deeper voice isn't better it's just perceived that way sometimes None of these men had deep voices but they had legendary voices, Humphrey Bogart, Ben Kingsley, Denzel Washington, Marlon Brando Focus on making your voice distinct not deep. PEACE.....
The P120 is a true condenser, whereas the P100 has an electret capsule inside, similar to the popular AT2020. Because of this, I'd choose the P120 between the two but I really recommend the P220, which has a larger diaphragm and a lower self noise. The P220 is one of the best microphones I've tried so far. It has all the features of very expensive mics just for $150.
Z Alves I hate being this guy, and i am not meaning this in a confrontational or rude way haha..... but I don’t know where you saw that information but on the official AKG Perception 100 Manual and all the other places I looked it states the Perception 100 is a True Condenser Mic. Is there somewhere that debunks that or something?
Read that a little closer... it is the Perception 120 that was an electret... not the Perception 100. recordinghacks.com/microphones/AKG-Acoustics/Perception-100

Hey there, I'm just looking to start a TH-cam channel based on tutorial and stuff can u please help me out in purchasing a good microphone, My budget is something around 100 bucks!
Are you looking at getting a USB mic? Or do you have, or want, an interface + a microphone? Having an interface is nice, because you can switch mics whenever you want and use the same interface. A USB mic doesn’t give you that option, but they are convenient and eliminate the need for an interface.
@@AudioHotline At present I don't have any kind of interface and stuff, I think USB mics are way better for my use. "EASY INSTALLATION"! Can u please suggest me both the mics with the interface or without interface.
Vansh Aggarwal the Samson Q2U is a good option because it is a USB mic that can also be used as an XLR mic. As far as an interface and mic combo goes, you could try to find a used Scarlett solo for like $80 and then get the Behringer XM8500 for $20. Or another interface option is the Behringer UMC22 for $50!
Informative, good info... too many "F" bombs but to each their own. Easier to decipher the info without the "language"... Did not make it more entertaining. Stick to the info... you obviously know what you're talking about. Thanks.
SO THE DISCOUNTED MIC SOUNDS BETTER!
I'm an AT fan but Perception 100 sounds really good based on this video.

The P100 has more of a natural sound
I got the p420 from a pawn for $90 and it's a great, really versatile condenser mic. Highly recommend. The P170's are great too.
Have on hands akg perception 400 and p420. The difference is insane. Absolute in love with sound quality of perception 400.

Just got a used AKG Perception 100. The mount wont screw in properly.
Tried clockwise and counter, just wont hold.
