I simply eat raw garlic and cashews. The garlic sweating out of my pores stops the ticks clinging to me.

unfortunately, cold temps do not kill ticks. Anything under 45 just causes them to go dormant. What really effects the tick population is the deer population, birds, and wildfires.

@@benchase7537 from what I understand, if cold snaps are sudden and severe enough, they can kill ticks before they get the chance to go dormant. The best, and least destructive, solution would probably be to increase the opossum population, those little dudes are amazing at clearing out ticks. Unfortunately though, they're also really prone to becoming road waffles.

    Also
-tuck your pants into your boots (even if you have lace up boots)
    -tuck in your shirt
-wear long sleeves with a snug cuff on the wrist

Let me tell you from personal experience: You do NOT want Lyme's disease. I got it when I was 9 or 10. Symptoms: Barely able to sleep, angry attitude, severe pain in knee, knee swole up like a soft ball. The treatment was to take antiobiotics which gave me a stomach ulcer, and have the fluid from my knee drained by a doctor with the biggest needle I've ever seen. The doctor said it's never really cured, and could flare up again and spread to my heart and kill me one day. Avoiding ticks is important. I thought I'd never get lyme's disease or a serious illness from ticks. I was wrong.

Right across the long island sound from lyme Connecticut (ironically) my brother myself and my friend all contracted "alpha gale syndrome " from being bitten by the lone star tick. The disease makes you allergic to mammal meat and can last for years. Some people can go into anaphalactic shock after eating meat and be fatal. It took my brother 5 years to get over it and 2 years gor myself. I'm 69 years old and have spent my whole life hiking biking and camping in the woods. I relocated to Sweden from the Scottish Highlands only to discover the ticks are worse here than there! Back in Scotland some years back I got Lyme disease from a tickbite, confirmed only due to the bullseye rash on my leg at the bite mark. I was given two weeks of strong antibiotics and no follow up. I've since discovered this was inadequate treatment and I've lived with Lyme's ever since. Don't mess with tick bites. Use the small kits when you hike or camp which can test an individual tick for Lyme if you notice it...many times people don't even realise they've been bitten. And young ticks are pinprick tiny but still bite. Also, get a doctor who *knows* how to treat Lyme disease.

I always found tics in my upper torso, hair, neck, back, underarms and inside of elbows moreso than lower torso at all. As if they all say "hey, there she is, let's drop in and visit awhile". They're generally the same color as my hair, so much fun finding them.....they go under my hats, was beginning to think I'd have to Duck Tape and seal my hats....

Make sure to check your pant legs front and back every 20 minutes or so when moving through grassy areas. Any place you're likely to find small rodents is the best habitat for ticks. G'day Bjorn great tips thank you ! Ticks are a serious problem ! There are over seventy types of ticks in Australia and I have ended up in hospital from them little buggers I was talking to an old digger in the pub he reakons that he uses engine starting fluid that has ether in it to kill ticks after five mins they fall out ! And I said that I used coconut oil to deter them he told me it's not much good and told me that tropical insect repellent works pretty good ! He has guinea fowl spend all day around his farmhouse eating tics ! So his farm dogs only get them when he goes out from area the guinea fowl don't roam ! He also gets his missus to chuck his clothes in a clothes drier after he has been out in the paddock and it kills them ! He said that the guinea fowl are silly buggers and are noisy Basterds but they are better than having his dogs drop of the perch ! I hope he wasn't telling a big story and his advice has some truth ! We have a starting fluid in Australia called start U Basterd ! It also could be useful to light your fire to heat up your coffee if the wood a bit damp ! I will be making sure the kids have long boots and are covered up next time we go out the scrub to collect firewood

In areas of thick overhead brush or trees Ticks will drop out of the trees and skydive down to their host. At least that’s my experience out here in the western Montana high country.
Everything your doing to avoid the Ticks is top notch. I do all of those things as well but in Western Montana the Ticks are active from when the snow melts in April to about late June. Over the years I have used a great product made by a company called sawyers and while they make a topical lotion I don’t use as much they make a Tick and mosquito repellent that is sprayed on the outside of your clothes and gear and once it dries it actively repels ticks and mosquitoes for 6 weeks! You can even wash your clothes a few times during that time without having to reapply it. I’m not sure if you can get it over in Norway but if you can it’s well worth it. I love all the channels brother. Keep up the great work!

ticks don’t crawl trees and will not fall down on you
and instead of synthetic shit like permethrin
use cold pressed organic extra virgin coconut oil and rub it onto your skin
cold pressed coconut oil is high in lauric acid which attacks the chitin shell of the insects so it will burn them if they try to bite into skin with the oil on it
they even avoid getting onto surfaces in the first place that have the oil on it
but be sure it is organic and cold pressed coconut oil

Here in the states we have products with a synthetic tick killer called Permethrin, it is applied to fabric like clothing, packs and tents etc., absolutely kills ticks, fleas, chiggers, pretty much any bug that touches it. Don't apply it to skin though, they make DEET or Pyrethrin for that. Combine the two, use your advice and your protected. Thanks.

This is " Tick Talk" 101...
Ticks have been bad this year, in western Oregon.
No ticks on me, but 2, on my RottnLab, at last jobsite, both removed, one fostered/irritation at bite location, I used one of those bug bite/ sting relief pen things, has baking soda & other things and water... Festering/ irritation went away rather quickly, RottnLab quit scratching that spot too.
Next jobsite, 4 ticks on RottnLab in 2 days, she ( my RottnLab) came to me, to get ticks removed, no festering, or irritation, , ,
Used Zodiac brand flea, tick pest repellant on RottnLab. No ticks since. She has never had flea one,,, ever, she turned 4yrs old Nov 3rd.
No fleas EVER, until I went up to northern Oregon to help sister move. She has cats, with more fleas than hairs on their bodies💩
I sprayed her( my RottnLab ) with
    Maggie's Farm natural insect repellant.
Sprayed the back seat ( where copilot RottnLab rides) with Adams flea & tick spray, before I loaded the RottnLab up, into vehicle.
Once we got home, to camp, I mixed water, peppermint extract, anise, and few drops of tea tree oil in spray bottle.
Sprayed the bed and the RottnLab, flea combed her few times a day.
Less than week and a half,, NO FLEAS🎯

I was born in the Ozarks. I certainly sympathize with anyone who has been sick from this, but to say the problem is the ticks is avoiding what I feel is a huge elephant..
Some people are weaker physically and genetically. If this tiniest of pests can make you sick, then I sympathize, but you’re certainly not the norm.
This doesn’t mean there is anything inherently inferior with you as a person. However, as one of millions of Hillbillies who regularly gets several dozen ticks a year on himself, due to the fact I live, work, and play in the woods, I assure you that for most people a tick is no more dangerous than the cursed chigger…..
Sorry if they make you sick. I used to be deathly allergic to cats…. I understand having a medical issue one cannot directly control ….
I spent a whole summer living with a woman who had a cat…I was miserable at first…but guess what?
If you’re a healthy individual, your immune system will defeat most things quickly…some not so quickly…
    If you’re not a healthy individual…..
My sincere condolences…..all I can say is that if a tiny bug can kill you….maybe that’s saying something about you….not the bug

Had a lump there for a week which then went down but the poison went down to my right hand and had slight paralysis feelings for awhile. They went away and I've been ok since.
