My body shivers, my tears drop When I watched you appear in the snow A secret door to my heart opened up Hey, I think I was knocked out of the blue The world around us is so beautiful It saddens me to know one day it'll disappear It won't upset me if you don't feel the same I'll just brood over it in secret Looking up into the sky, I count the stars They're so far out of my reach Because of you, I want to believe eternity exists And I wish to never forget the sound of your voice Despite my doubts, my heart is hopeful - which way do I go to find you? I remind myself to just act without thinking Because the world turns something good for us all All of a sudden, everything's alright Because I remember what you've shown me The pleasant memories, laughing together You've brought my dreams back all on your own If we were to meet again after a thousand years Would I still be able to recognize your face? And if the end of the world would ever come I want to be partly facing you when I say "Goodbye..."
*English Translated Lyrics:* Hara Hara , Polo Polo I was looking at you that snow has brought The secret door Hey It seems was knocked unexpectedly Those too beauty eventually It melts and disappears The Nigedase not If you notice I mope maze One two-star counted look up the sky In far more hands can not reach If Negae and want forever than words Since this voice it also would resonate far Which direction to real intention and despite your heart ? randomnessinabox The thing is, a lot of these people would have no clue about bemani if it weren't for Osu. Bemani is a really niche series and it's kind of hard to get into, plus the skill floor is higher than Osu so even if you manage to find info on it it's easy to be discouraged. Granted, thinking the song is "from osu", like some people do, is silly. Osu brought me to bemani music and I love it, but I give credit where credit is due.
But it'd be really nice for them to give proper credit for things they see. Hell, the bemani scene might actually fucking exist outside of japan if it weren't for osu. Let that sink in.
+Merlin Lefebvre Would it really? osu has been around since 2007, and didn't start seriously rising in popularity until maybe 2012-2013. Pop'n came out in 1998, and IIDX in 1999. I consider that enough time for the games to become popular or well known. If anything, I think it would be the opposite. I know a LOT of people who had no clue what bemani was until they started playing osu, including myself, and many who transitioned over to it from osu. I agree with you that people should give credit where it's due, but honestly a lot of songs are actually pretty well known in the osu community as being from Bemani. Furthermore, the vast majority of Bemani songs are actually tagged properly in their map listing on osu. For example, this one's source is listed as "beatmania IIDX 20 tricoro," with "jubeat saucer" as a tag. I find it really ridiculous to get mad at something for giving something you like publicity, and all of the people commenting about osu on these videos should tell you just how much publicity it gets. Even if not everyone knows what it's actually from or cares to look, there are a good amount of people who do. Without osu, these songs, and subsequently the bemani games they're from, probably wouldn't be anywhere near as well known in the west as they are now. Also, I think that the problem with the bemani scene in the west is less publicity and more availability. Even if someone discovers IIDX and wants to try it out, and even if they're willing to play with a keyboard rather than a controller, you've gotta deal with the pain of setting up LR2, the difficulty of finding charts, a lack of information and people to ask for help to some degree, etc. If you do want a controller, you've gotta dish out $300+ for it in addition to setting up LR2. It's easier with SDVX and KSM, since KSM isn't anywhere near as annoying to set up and it's easier to find charts, but KSM is nearly unplayable for most people without a $200 controller. Not to even mention stuff like Jubeat where you pretty much HAVE to play it in an arcade. Let's say I wanna try Jubeat. There are only 17 arcades in the US listed on zenius-i-vanisher across 10 states. On the off chance that I actually live near one of these arcades, the machine might not be in great condition. Even assuming it is, I've gotta pay for every time I want to play it. It generally isn't expensive, but it could add up. And in addition to all that, for many people, the Bemani games just wouldn't be their thing. Jubeat is probably an exception to this, and potentially SDVX as well, but as I was recently able to actually play some of these games in a real arcade, I realized why many people might not be into them. IIDX is painfully hard at first, to the point where you have to play charts that are so easy they're boring until you get used to it enough to move up, and even then you move up pretty slowly unless you're talented. Pop'n is very similar. Jubeat is much easier to just start playing and I believe SDVX to be relatively easy to start as well. Maybe a bit easier overall, but definitely unique enough to still be fun even while playing easier stuff. Oh, I also forgot about the language problems. If someone goes to an arcade and the staff there aren't helpful, it could be hard for them to even know what to do to start playing depending on the game. It may sound like I'm just shitting on the Bemani games here, but believe me, I'm not. I really enjoy them, it's just that I can definitely understand why many people in the west who are used to games that are really easy to get into, don't require anything special to play, and are easy to find both information on and a community around just wouldn't care to deal with it.
That's entirely besides the point, though. The songs being attributed to where they're actually from, be it bemani, or like, DoDonPachi or whatever else has good music, would be nicer than treat them as if osu was responsible for them. That's all i'm saying.
Then why say that the Bemani scene might exist outside of Japan otherwise? lol That said I agree with you, though I do think that a lot of people who say "thanks osu" are thanking osu for leading them to the song rather than the song's existence.

Hara Hara , Polo Polo
I was looking at you that snow has brought
The secret door
Hey
It seems was knocked unexpectedly
Those too beauty eventually
It melts and disappears
The Nigedase not If you notice
I mope maze
One two-star counted look up the sky
In far more hands can not reach
If Negae and want forever than words
Since this voice it also would resonate far
Which direction to real intention and despite your heart ?
With not a word it only
World revolve around
From a nice even casual thing
And show me
Much laughable
Come take a dream
In it met with you in a thousand years ahead of the journey
Can I have the same face
At that time the world without sound eventually dawns
I want to be facing forwards a little
Farewell··
