VAN BUILD PROBLEMS! Even now we have finished the conversion (almost) things don't always get easier

- What should have been as easy week, getting the van ready for vanlife uk, (if thats ever going to happen?!) turned into a bit of an unproductive disaster. Never mind, you'll see in this weeks video that we still had fun!!
We are anticipating limited travel to start with, possibly having to use campsites, so we are just using our time in lockdown to get our self built campervan conversion prepped for that.
Emily fits a rear door campervan curtain and Lou adds a few van safety features inside the van.

Loving the bin and curtain ideas.
Those little fire extinguishers are totally useless. They last about 2 to 3 seconds and that's it. In fact i doubt it would be enough to actually put out a smoking frying pan fire. Anything more than that then you have zero chance. Many years ago a car in front started to catch fire. I just see a tiny flame underneath I flashed and stopped mother and baby. She had one of those small can extinguisher....All it did made a puff of smoke, the small engine fire didn't stop and the car burnt to the ground. From what i remember it looked like the fuel rail was squirting a tiny jet of petrol on the exhaust and a bigger extinguisher could have put that out. I did manage to get the baby out the back seat and empty the car of belongings on a roundabout before the fire brigade arrived.
SO in a van you really need at least a 2kg dry powder in the back and better for another up front cab t in case of an engine fire. In these situations you only got 20-30 seconds to get a fire under control or its too late.
Thats great you managed to help and get them to safety. They should last longer than that, maybe it was not a good one, I (Em) have some experience with fire fighting and know how quickly they can take hold it can be very shocking. Thanks for sharing your experience with us 👍

Don't fret though as when she gets the old sewing machine she admits she likes old things and then later you confirm that she thinks you are old. Them bloody window blinds are crap! Emily I'm sure you can make some better quality and better fitting! Have you looked to see if you can get some that have been made for the campervan and ocean of your van? Maybe if you put the make and model of the camper van you can find the ones that will probably fit? Another great video girls I really do like your camera work really professional and your editing is really great!

Use it in the garden and take it with you in the van.
I've been laying in mine in the garden watching the birds feed, its sooo comfortable!
We've got one already, just a cheap one but we love it, could do with another one those so we don't argue over who gets it lol! 😁

One of my Lurchers had a similar violent allergic reaction to Metacam. Very worrying and because it was at the weekend a very large emergency vet bill!

Looks like the windscreen cover would have been better if youd have put sun visors down to hold top part in place
We didn't even get that far, the gaps around the sides were shocking, it was just the complete wrong shape and size!

The front blind will be ok if you lower the sun shades over the cover.
That would have helped at the top but the thing would still be too short, there was a 2 inch gap either side lol 😂 we've sent it back now and got a different one.

Aha! Louise - at 7:26 in this vid, there are 2 black plastic things in the top right of the window. I too have them! What are they? (I have the same van almost identical, 2016 Relay l3h2...) especially the long black plastic thing horizontally on the glass there?
Hi Simon, from memory I think they were left over from a teletrack system that was in the van from when it was a delivery van. So the company can track exactly where the van is at any given time. I've removed it now I'm sure 🤔
Actually scrap that, it is still on there so I'm not too sure to be honest.
Vet bills are never pleasant but at least he's ok 👍🏻. Those cab window blinds are a bit disappointing, I was looking at that type for mine once it's finished (if it ever gets finished 🤔)
I don't know why I was so shocked, we used to those bills by now lol!! He's getting there slowly. We had similar blinds before and they were much better, if we find some decent ones I'll stick them in a video. Thanks for watching 😁👍

A suggestion for cold weather use. Hang a heavy blanket behind the cab seats suspended from the rail that separates the cab from the body of the 'van.
It makes a huge difference ...

you see the overhead blind you can drop while you drive, well drop it on top of the windshield blind it will hold things in place
