I am going to India this coming January 2017, and finding your video was one of the most blessing and wondeful things that could have happened to me... So many thanks for sharing this... a beautiful gift for one interested in learning more about ancient cultures in this world.... Thank you!
we thought the music suited the occasion, and we like to put in our own interpretation of our travels. after all there are already lots of videos that just document the aarti without any editing.
thank you! this video was shot on a canon 60D with a cheap 50mm F1.8 lens. 30 frames per second at 1/50 shutter speed (to prevent light flickering because electricity in India is 50Hz - 1/60 would be the normal shutter speed for 30 fps). we should have taken off the UV filter as it caused the reflections of the light sources that you see as inverted green lights.
Cheers will start playing around with settings as on holiday next week in Crete Greece, so looking forward to the holiday and the Camera, take care & thanks for your advice.
the iso was set to get a proper exposure. here it was probably 400 or 640 because F1.8 was pretty bright. in a different situation you may have very different settings.
enjoy greece! in broad daylight you will find that you need to stop down the aperture or use a faster shutter speed or even both. they both could have undesirable effects depending on the look you are going for. to control the amount of light entering the camera during the day, it's best to have an ND filter available. we had a circular polarizer filter while traveling in India which could act as a weak ND filter. there's lots of information online. have fun!
Beautiful images but...that "humdrum" music (min 3:00) is a mistake. Nothing like the live sound. The most I remember of this ceremony is the perfect "crescendo" till the end.
frank you owe me 9000 rs man ...After watching this i finally went to my home varanasi after 2 years ...In this busy life finally i got a chance to feel my place...
lol i'll be broke if i started paying people who went traveling after watching the videos! you are lucky to be from such as interesting place like varanasi - i hope you got to stay for free at least!
Hi, I just wanted to let you know that I "borrowed" your video description for one of my photographs on flickr. It was taken at the same ghat, and is of the same ceremony. I was looking for a good description and stumbled upon your video. I credited you both (Frank & Jen, I'm assuming). Let me know if you have any problem.
Thanks for your reply I have recently brought a 60d so very new to using it, watching your videos was one of the reasons I brought it because of the nice films you make. What ISO did you use if you don't mind ?
Aryan is Sanskrit world refering noble, cultured Vedic mean the four foundational Hindu books Ofcourse hindu word was given by the Persian Greeks so it new
This brought me back to my visit in 2008. It changed my life forever. Thank you for this video.
