my 2012 Polo GTi still rock solid & looked brand new with me, treated her like a japanese samurai & ninja car onto maintenance schedule, will last long sure.

Been using the pgti for the past 11 yrs. So far manageable. Needs tender love and care. Surprisingly original Varta battery lasted 7 ++ yrs. Most major parts changed during warranty. Now car seems to stabilise.
Actually tried selling the car twice but the deal didnt went through. Now after using it for more than 10 years, kinda fond of the car. Will most probably keep it as a collector item. Kereta pun dah tak byk meragam skrg.

As you said, if you take care of your car, it will take care of you. Plus way of driving also counts. Selalu gemar lenjan dan hantam need responsibilities. Accelerated wear and tear and perhaps need earlier oil change. Tapi jika nak bawa biasa, occasionally hantam okayla it will last. Maintenance yg you buat pun bukan mengejutkan, normal only. Think positive and pray for the best. Bila sampai masa tukar je parts. $$$ is the answer. Haha. Anyway take care and have a wonderful day with your cute GTI.

@@Carfluenza True and reliability is a subjective word. There's no generalising. There's no exact specification to determine reliability. That's why it's actually called perceived reliability. Like say Honda, an ex Civic NA owner needs to have a different mindset towards his new or potential new Civic turbo. Definitely the maintenance, wear and tear, Tender Loving Care (TLC) will be different. So the reliability of that new car will depend on those factors plus luck. Fastforward to 2021, I think VW cars are not far from the Japanese when it comes to reliability. Exception of Toyota, we know how amazingly reliability is it. Say modern Honda with Direct Injection turbo and CVT, definitely more things can go wrong compared to the simpler VTec NA with 5 speed torque converter automatic transmission. So yeah the difference between Honda and VW maybe on Maintenance ya but depends also. Some parts from brand A may be cheaper and some may be more expensive. So the key is buy what we have passion in, research thoroughly and be prepared for everything. Lastly think positive, hope for the best and pray and just enjoy the drive. Whatever car for the matter.
I not driving golf gti but do totally agreed each brand have their own issue. Volkswagen indeed keep on improving. The funny part bank staff commented on your engine oil, mine one year change 5 times engine oil already for 10,000km. Quite good your video 👍. Keep it up

Manual car also used dry clucth... Okey je... Sebenarnye yg ada isu mechatronic... Kene faham cara kerja mechatronic nie ... Mechatronic just untuk shifting gear n enggage clucth je... Kalu drive highway dlm cruise speed 160km/hr xde masalah pown... tak kn lah mecha asik shifting gear je? Mase cruise tu clucth dh fully engage n mechatronic pown dlm stanby mood je... X bekerja pown, so xde isu overheated pown.... Yg jadi isu overheated kalu kene trafik jem.. mechatronik asik enggage n disenggage clucth je... Dan owner yg tak jaga maintainance or hantar workshop yg just nk duit je..
maintenence bole sakit kepala jugak VW ni.. x berbaloi.. baik go for jdm or local cars ja.. major service boleh bayar deposit new car kalau golf tu.. market value pun drop gila2 tu belum kalau loan 9 years 😂😂

Dry clutch dsg in hot Malaysia climate will easily get overheat. A trip from jb to kl at 160km/hr is enough to deteriorate it's condition.
