How to deal with antibiotics in dental practice???
The first thing to do with an abscess is to drain the infection, don't try to give drugs because most of the time it is enough to drain locally ...
#but in case of systemic signs e.g: fever, swelling ... you should give antibiotics.
Amoxicillin 500mg 1cap TDS 5️⃣ days
Metronidazole 200 mg 1 tab TDS 5️⃣days
..
🚫🚫 in the case of penicillin-allergic patients, give Clarithromycin 250 mg 1 tab BD 7️⃣ days.
🚫🚫 what if the patient is on warfarin usage?!
Amoxicillin or metronidazole???
The drug of choice is also clarithromycin Or Clindamycin, (lacosamide)
But it's prescribed for 5days only🚫🚫 unless severe diarrhea will occur 》》why??⁉️❓

Because this antibiotic enters the normal flora of the intestine and works to create a suitable environment for a bacteria called " Clostridium bacteria " 》》pseudomembranous colitis
2. Pericoronitis
Metronidazole is the drug of choice used for 3 days, and we give in combination with Amoxicillin for 3 days.
3. NUG /gum disease
First, do local treatment, try to debrief supra and subgingival with irritation.
A. Tetracycline used to treat periodontal diseases, deep pockets
Dosage :
250_500 mg TDS 5️⃣days .
Note: 🚩 affects bone generation.
In case of aggressive periodontitis 》》 tetracycline + metronidazole.
🏳 in some cases, in periodontic e.g with pocket, we can use tetracycline locally as a mouthwash by dissolving it in normal saline and give it to the patient to mouth wash.
And we can prescribe also Doxycycline.
4. Sever infection, speeded infection as in facial infections, life-threatening diseases.
Ceftriaxone 1G IV INJ TWICE A DAY FOR 3 DAYS.
And after 3 days we give it as tabs.
Metronidazole is prescribed in combination with ceftriaxone...

🚩Erythromycin and cliathrymycin are not allowed to be used with Hypertension patients. Because they decrease the blood pressure too much.
