You need to hold the traction off button for 10 seconds to fully disable it, and you will see 2 lights in the dash instead of just 1. I think you are in regular track mode where TC is only partly turned off.
Reminds me of some BMW systems. One of our instructors had to look up and explain how to take the DSC completely off in my dad's E46 M3. Involved a few steps haha
@@mgcharoudin how about challenging yourself with endurance racing sort of thing, minimzing fuel loss per track time, trying to get the most speed per fuel. i do this in everyday driving, of course much slower paced . i think motors sports should be limited to virtual reality base shaker etc stuff, getting rid of limits of reality, and that i should stop being poosee and get a bike instead of car
agree, the most import thing on track is alignment and brakes, every season I will do brake fluid/pad and alignment, especially alignment! most people ignore how important this is, especially if you can do a corner balance alignment
To prevent engine breakdown due to a sticking crankshaft, I strongly recommend fitting a baffle plate in the oil pan and filling the oil with 6 litres of engine oil.

I concur. Every vehicle I buy I do these three things after performing a baseline: brakes (pads+fluid), tires, alignment. I have always been blown away that suspension parts are really just what am i trying to fine tune or accomplish out of the vehicle.
The toe alignment is pretty similar to the one i did on my Subie - works great, but you know it already 😅 This will be a great car 😎 geting better and better. Oh, and get the steering rack bushings for the GR as well, these are ❤😉😎👍
I have been hesitating whether to get an alignment job for my stock Miata. I didn't know how much difference it is going to make, especially consider I have no intention of modifying it. After watching this I'm definitely going to have a look into alignment!

I am realy surprised how much our DS3 THP 155 changed by just lowering springs from eibach and the alignment numbers of the DS3 “Racing”. So next step will be brake lines and body stiffness.👌🏻
There are a hand full of 200 to 250 lb v8s based off Suzuki/Kawasaki/Yamaha engines. They're low displacement and rev to 10K. The GR86 would be perfect for one. Search JUN BRZ if you haven't seen it already. Such a clean car.
For me BBK/Steel lines, Sway bar/strut brace, and ideal tire/suspension tune is a mandatory MOD to make this car truly ideal. With a SC and ideal header+exhaust combination im sure it can be very competitive. For the range of handling/power-torque band and overall cost.
Micha, Instead of the megane RS brake kit, try Reyland Motorsports kit with AP Racing CP9200 callipers and 330mm 2 piece discs. I have ran that setup on my GT86 for ages and it is probably the best setup to install without disturbing the brake bias. Ivan
Glad I found this, the turn in from left to right on my GR is 'snatchy' and I was suspecting an alignment issue. I still have my GT and I actually trust it more in the corners as I know exactly what I am going to get. Didi you just realign the car to the default stock factory set up as it should be or do something else with it here.
I guess, except engine, there might be more common with gt86 then dissimilar. If so, as you noted, car will benefit a lot from more overall negative camber (extra 0.5deg more in front for less understeery grip balance), zero toe front, slight toe in rear. As for TC long press off, probably you still have EBD and e-diff on. If you want to switch those off too to leave only basic ABS, google on pedal dance (specific handbrake/brake sequence within 30s of starting (warmed up) engine). ABS imho not worth switching off (with fuse). Apart from better fit brake pads/fluid, you may also consider adding brake ducts.
And this kids just goes to show.... you DO NOT need to sell your organs for an expensive high horsepower car to enjoy it. This is where the craft becomes important, understand vehicle dynamics and more importantly ...trust yourself.
When i upgraded my calipers to bigger ones incl. braided steel lines i noticed a much much better and faster stop, it almost feels like you hit a concrete wall... while "experts" say it does not matter how big your brakes or pads are it still have same stopping distance... i call bullsjit... i tested it multiple times and it was way more aggressive from stock to big brakes... The more surface area the better bite... which comes from my own mechanical engineering experiences even a friend who didn't know i had them upgraded asked me if i did something to the car. And the next upgrade for me is a oil cooler (never had high temps just yet btw) and indeed a coil over set incl. an laser alignment, dunno why Manthey ask so much money it only costs 60 euro's here from a well known tyre dealer who is also involved into F1 racing.
Have you done anything to help the oil pressure issues on the track? All the data I have seen doesn't show much improvement with any of the baffles. Just adding more oil seems the best fix so far I have seen.
I wonder how stable alignment values really will be with regular cars with rubber bushings. I've done them more or less regularly, but have no idea if they last.
They last tens of thousands of kms unless people drive over kerbs or kerbstones a lot, on streets or track. The usual recommendation is to realign when buying new tires.

What alignment specs did you use out of interest? I added some toe in at the rear (10 minutes) which definitely makes it feel more stable in high speed corners.

My main question is for you, I ordered White line camber bolts and SPC performance arms for the rear, and I changed my alignments but I had a strange feel on the track yesterday, the car is not sharp into the corner as I wanted, and the alignments I did Front camber : -2.25R - 2.25L Front tow- +0.6R + 0.6L Rear Camber: - 2.5R - 2.5L Rear tow +0.4R +0.4L What are your thoughts? maybe change the front tow in to tow out -0.2? Thanks!
My alignment is of at least for one tire... but NBR alignment is something completely different I learn... some work left I guess before a proper visit...

@@pazera66 it's really hard to say. Weekdays can be tricky as you only have 2 hours to drive. They can close the track due to accidents. Weekends are busier, but you can drive for longer, mornings and evenings are less busy.

I have been comparing the GR86 to the Subaru BRZ and it looks like the Subaru may have some advantages on suspension components. Did you look into this or are you better connected to Toyota there?
Most 86 owners we don't notice any diference installing braided brake lines, stock ones are pretty stiff, I would save my money. You are probably noticing a change because of the less compresible brake fluid and stronger bite of the brake pads. I like to do mods one at a time so I know what does what.
@@jiriprachar1145 yes true I didn’t word it correctly! old brake fluid usually has a lot of water which will boil and this is compressible making the pedal go to the floor.

Btw, im planning on buying a Alfa Romeo Brera 3.2 AWD, so really unusual and maybe you will review it one day. It's not a track monster and I'm interested to see how much I can get done with mods and light weight reduction. It shall mostly stay a grand tourer, but a really sporty one.

It just goes to show how important little things can be. Always have the car set up properly - long before you go chasing more power.
Another not expensive upgarde are the sway (anti-roll) bars. The handling gets a lot better.

You feel nervous because the OEM differential is Torsen type, they are really unstable, buy an aftermarket clutch pack.

There are no BRZs here with the 2nd gen. Subaru cant afford to sell them here sadly.

Fluids are not compressible.
Brake lines are always braided lines covered in rubber which is why most people don’t notice a big difference factory lines are braided already

Thx for this vid! I'm planning my own mods for my first good car right now and your insights are really interesting. Btw, im planning on buying a Alfa Romeo Brera 3.2 AWD, so really unusual and maybe you will review it one day. It's not a track monster and I'm interested to see how much I can get done with mods and light weight reduction. It shall mostly stay a grand tourer, but a really sporty one.
They are awesome, I had a 159 with just a 2.2 which I took to zandvoort, could keep up /faster than many other cars in corners, check it out on my channel if you feel like it

Das nächste Update sollten Reifen sein. Und bevor man ein Fahrwerk einbaut, den Stabilisator tauschen. Da wäre ich mal auf eine Einschätzung gespannt. Was bringt nur der Stabilisator?

I would love to see whether there are some aerodynamics mods that actually improve the handling. I don't know how viable that is though

@@mgcharoudin even some basic improvements on making the floor of the car smoother would make a lot of difference. Although most drivers won't be fast enough with this car to really benefit from actual downforce...
