This video fucking kills me. This came out when my mom was slowly dying of cancer. She passed away in December. I still cannot listen to this without absolutely breaking down. It's so beautiful and sad. How I wish we could stop time, if even for a moment.

The three figures are the Norns. The Norns are deities in Norse, Germanic mythology who are responsible for shaping human destiny. Their names are Urðr, Verðandi, and Skuld. They stand for "what was", "what is" and "what is to come". They also care for and protect the "world(s) tree" Yggdrasill, which stands at the center of the universe and connects the nine worlds (Asgard, Vanaheim, Alfheim, Midgard (World of human), Jötunheim, Muspelheim, Nidavellir, Niftheim and Helheim) seen in the video as an kind of "hourglass" or "tree of sand" where the women give birth to the children.

To get it to the point, the band Rammstein are real artists and of course, sometimes they do controversial things but actually they show a mirror of our society and the way some behave. They have always made class A video clips and put a lot of efforts, time and money into it.

    • @teardrop-in-a-fishbowl

We have that "controversial thingyding" talk in Germany too (mostly by people who don't want to understand and are eager to put Rammstein in the right-wing corner), every time Rammstein puts out a new album. BUT, that's being said, not at all sooo controversial as it's seen in the US. Making lyrics about life, reality, can't be controversial. Can it? Really? I don't think so. Unless you're a "Pussy" (hahahaha) or neglect reality as it is. I know, there are people who don't want to be "intimidated" by the lyrics and visuals, but they usually aren't listening and watching Rammstein videos anyway. The horrors of life, human behavior and the nastiness some people bring to the world shouldn't thrown into a imaginary hole to not be seen anymore. It's already so,so deep and filled with all crap we humans have done to eachother! So, don't let us be pussies and shy away from reality! I APPRECIATE RAMMSTEIN for what and how they're doing their job as musicians so, so much. I only have love for them, as metalhead and as human being! Thanks for reacting to Rammstein and your thoughts guys!! Greetings from Germany 🤘

@@teardrop-in-a-fishbowl I have to agree with you. I recently read that they are not politically correct and therefore they are almost hated by the West German press. In addition, they are East Germans. II don't think the press is doing itself any favours. Greetings from Germany

@@annegretkasten6277 Right! And "funny words" coming from a not so funny guy are sooo 🥱 IDK! Even guys who I highly respect, like Zizek, said lots of bs about Rammstein ("Pussy"). If you want to misunderstand, you misunderstand! Some people are heavily biased, have a wrong conception of how art, yes Rammstein is art, should be and use words as well as visuals to tell stories (of being the perpetrator), "tell IT" from the perpetrators perspective. This does NOT mean the band "PROMOTES" this kind of behavior!! And using "controversial" images, who might be "offensive" to the one or the other, is as important as using "nasty words" to describe our human world THAT THERE IS!

So sorry for your loss. I lost my mom as well due to cancer. Just started "discovering" Rammstein. Though i already knew some songs of them but never really though about it more than just hearing a song. It's completely different now. In 2009 i was diagnosed with leukemia at age 23. Since then, i've only known physical and emotionally/mental pain. Lost all of my "friends." In a matter of weeks/months. I was diagnosed with Graft Versus Host Disease in 2012. I ended up in a wheelchair and i have nerve pain all over my body. In 2018, life showed it's "ironic" way of time and my mom died just 21 days after her 62yr. She was just 1yr. in retirement.
It's been almost 5yrs. and i still miss her very much!

They def have a formula with their heavier songs. But they are true artists and have the freedom to express their art in all forms.
Another comparison is to watch Mein Hertz Brent the original, then the original piano version.
One is heavy, intense and head banging. The other is artistic, intense
The "controversy" of Till is that he is Till. Superficial glances will find controversy. But he's a poet and everything has double meanings. He tends to play the villain in the videos and songs in order to show the depravity of society, not glamorize it.
I recommend "Deutschland." It's a song about their love and hate for their home country. The video is chock full of historical symbolism

I defintely recommend the original Mein Herz Brennt and follow it with the piano version. Both outstanding, and best watched in that order.
I agree re Till. I love him but the tabloid media etc love to try and paint him as something that he isn't, and of trying to paint the band as something they are not.
At one point the band even made the track "Links 2-3-4" as their means of addressing some of the controversy of the time (yes it has a music video, also great live)
Often the controversy comes, once again, from the media.
For example in Deutschland music video, there is a section of the video that makes sense with context. However some of the stills of this were printed in the media before the songs release and without context, creating a fuss over nothing.
I highly recommend you watch those videos, Mein Herz Brennt official music vid, Mein Herz Brennt official piano version, and Deutschland official music video, and I will say Deutschland is incredible and it definitely is one where you do need to watch the full thing, intro and outro too!!
You might also enjoy the Links live performance, and another recommend is Haifisch official music video from the LIFAD album
Enjoyed this Zeit reaction, especially your different interpretations. It is so beautiful, the song and so poignant too.
PS Cory (possibly), were you thinking of Feuer Frei when you suggested "firestarter"?

It digs deep and that will hurt. This is an art form and art isn’t art if it doesn’t do something with somebody (a whole lot of somebodies if you wish 😉).

Well said, gentleman. Yes, Rammstein has always been like this. It is a mistake made by many that they perceive that Rammstein has produced a ‘novelty’ hit (‘Du Hast’) and nothing else. I have been a fan since 2003, have seen them live 4 times…and I’m a classical music lover. I wouldn’t love them so much if there wasn’t such depth to them (in addition to the occasional fun song, like ‘Dicke Titten’).

Rammstein have always had fantastic videos their whole career, but they really stepped up for Deutschland in 2019 and since then, they've been outstanding. It's hard to recommend another video if you're checking Rammstein out in your own time because we don't know what you have and haven't seen but it would be great to continue these reactions as you explore your journey with them. Also controversy surrounding Till, I'm not sure what they're alluding to either beyond the arrest already mentioned. His solo project can get a bit weird/pornographic and *some* have called it sexually aggressive but in irl he's a lot more introverted and no one has come out with any allegations or anything like that. He's pretty widely loved

I had the luck to see them live this year. And when they played this song, Till changed the line _ein Jeder kennt, den perfekten Moment_ (everyone knows the perfect moment) into _ihr alle kennt, den perfekten Moment_ (you all know, the perfect moment).
Aside from that, I grew up with Rammstein, and it's true, that they do many controversial themes in their songs. But there is often a deeper meaning in them, which you not always see at first. Such as these cloak figures resemble the norns, deities from norse mythology, called Urðr (Wyrd), Verðandi, and Skuld, which are shaping the course of human destinies. They are incarnations of the past, present and future.

there is no real controversy at all , at least if you use your brain while listening. They got misinterpreted a lot ( by leftist who thought they are nazis, also by nazis who wished they are naizis, mostly by ideots that just dont't get it, and a whole lot of offended people (christians, homophobes ect. ) while in fact they are rerally nice guys and incredible artists that don't cut corners. They bring up the hard topics, and some people just can't comprehend it

Till Lindemann has also two other projects: Lindemann together with Peter Tägtgren. Two albums (one German, one English) and one live DVD. It is hard to describe this project. It has metal, a tango, even rap and very (VERY) disturbing music video's that can not be found on TH-cam.
His other project is called 'Till Lindemann'. With BEAUTIFUL classical music and ballads. Together with violinist, or the French singer Zaz. But his song 'Ich Hasse Kinder' (I hate children) is very heavy. And has a great lyrics and music video.
And last but not least: Rammstein has a timelaps video from their 2019 and 2022 tour stage on their youtube channel. It is worth checking out. The band is touring the US soon with the full setup.

Till (lyrics, vocals) also has published several poetry collections, some of which have been translated and available in English translation
Lindemann (with Peter Tägtgren) has some amazing - and some very disturbing - songs and videos.
Till Lindemann has done some diverse and random things (as in the artistic persona/project of the name, and as a person too I guess) including releasing a single on International Children's Day last year(?) called Ich Hasse Kinder, along with music video.
There is also a short film by the same name that is about 20 minutes long and I think all in Russian?
Interestingly the topic of the music video, and the lyrics are extremely divergent from the visuals in a fascinating horror type of way

It was nice to see you a bit shocked (in a positive way) by this video. Yes, of course Rammstein has a formula and you can clearly recognize their music with typical riffs, even here when the guitars kick in. But the key is, that you can never be sure of what to expect. And yes, there are some crazy performances and videos, but usually what you get is really stunning and - I'd say - safe. I don't understand people calling Till "controversial" - apart from some really old live performances he (or Rammstein in general) is simply going through any topics, including those which are usually controversial.
You are right about the music videos. Or ALMOST right. I'd say, that these videos usually give complete new perspective on the song - you could listen to the record, figure out how to interpret it and once you see the video you'd say "oh my, I was so damn wrong".
I'd like to recommend you some amazing music videos - if you didn't already happen to see them anyways:
    1. "Deutschland" - a wide view on history of Germany: th-cam.com/video/2nmxqHJZvO8/w-d-xo.html
    2. "Ich Will" - commentary on media hunting for a good story, based on true events (Gladbeck Hostage Crisis): th-cam.com/video/yF5KdN8SyoY/w-d-xo.html
    3. "Mein Herz Brennt" - one of the most known songs by Rammstein, with beautiful strings: th-cam.com/video/8NohvVK-Qes/w-d-xo.html
    4. „Dalai Lama”, inspired by 1782 Goethe’s poem, „Erlkönig”... and some event that happened to the band: th-cam.com/video/vO1YA0f4zvE/w-d-xo.html
    5. "Mein Herz Brennt" in a piano version - such an amazing solo performance by Till, a must see! th-cam.com/video/Qm2lBGvbMjg/w-d-xo.html
All links are with English subtitles added by educatedmarine TH-cam user, who does a fantastic job. For "Dalai Lama" he actually created the music video, since Rammstein didn't.
I could go on and on, but this is perfect for start the ride down the rabbit hole 😁

Either way I think they are possibly the best band of all time- there are very few bands that have such a massive following of people of all nationalities that don’t speak the same language yet everyone understands them in some way.

Rammstein have now been performing for around 25 years, and still the same band members. It has been theorized that their music has changed with the tastes of the audience which has kept people interested in them.
Deutschland has a techno backing track for example, not the Heavy metal people associate with them.
And then their Music video production quality, can sometimes exceed some movies. Do Deutschland as well.

Hello you two. That was a great reaction. I love this song and think Till has outdone himself with the lyrics. The lyrics touch the soul. Depending on my mood, the song affects me differently. Sometimes the song makes me sad, sometimes it fills me with joy because I think back to moments in my life that felt perfect.
And the music is fantastic with it. The video is a piece of art, that sets new standards in the music video industry.
As you may know, the band grew up in the GDR. There, many things could not be said freely without fear of reprisals. Rammstein and Till raised this limitation to an art form in their lyrics. It allows the listener, ironically, to make up their own mind about the meaning behind the lyrics. Till works a lot with metaphors in the lyrics. 'Sun', for example, is often symbolic of the heart. If you're interested in the lyrics, while watching the video, I recommend educatedmarine site. He does a great job, translating the lyrics. With love from Germany 🤘 😎

They have always had songs like this one and their lyrics have (almost) always been very deep, poetic and often double meaning. Maybe first two albums were more... raw (I cannot find better word right now), but since "Mutter" album (2001) they have not change much. Actually, "Mutter" and "Zeit" albums are my favourite. And there are, in general, lots of their softer, very touching songs. Maybe I can even say that "soft Rammstein" is my favourite. If you want to check some of such songs, I can recommend "Mutter", "Donaukinder", "Amour", "Ohne Dich", "Hilf mir"... the list is long. At the end, I highly recommend song "Lügen" from "Zeit" album (with lyrics, of course).
    Cheers from Serbia!

The controversy that comment might have been talking about is all the BDSM stuff in that lyrics and performance. Till also it’s very open in songs about weir fetishes and support to the gay community. He is also not shy to dress in drag. But as long as it’s all consenting adults who actually cares? Right?

My interpretation and thought was time goes on like a continuous cycle and those rare occasions when we are truly happy of course we want time to stop. The showing of the sand and hourglass ⌛ time keeps going and them showing the scenes reversing to me meant a desire to go back in time either to the moment of birth and start our lives over or to before we're even born saying no i don't even want to be born i want to go back before i was even conscious of my own existence and mortality. Them being blindfolded to me was no one knows whats going to happen in the future we don't know what kind of lives these babies are going to have.

    ⏳ TIME⌛
    Some things should
    Some things shan't(should not)
We see, yet we are blind
    We cast shadows without light
After us, there will be a 'before'
Out of youth, necessity is born already
We keep dying until we live
    (We) die living into(the)death
    We drift towards the end
    No rest, just striving forward
Endlessness is waving at the shore
Captured in the river of time
    Time
    Please stand still, stand still
    Time
This shall go on forever and always
Warm body will be cold soon
    One cannot conjure the future
    Allows for no stay
    Creating and destroying immediately
I lie here in your arms
Oh, could it just be like this forever
But the time knows of no mercy
    Already, the moment is gone
    Time
It is so beautiful, so beautiful
    Everyone knows
    The perfect Moment
    When our time has come
Then it is time to go
Stopping when things are at thier best
    The clocks stand still
    The moment is so perfect
    But the time keeps running(out)
    Moment, would you Please remain
    I'm not ready yet

  • @ibrahimhakksusuz2686
    @ibrahimhakksusuz2686 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

Rammstein is a spectrum. At the one end a song like Pussy is fun and graphic. At the other end this song serious and emotional. Between these two there are countless songs covering every aspect of life. There is no any other band that can achieve this kind of variaty. They are bounderless and it is a double egde sword. You can love them or hate them depending which song you came across first. As said in Deutschland; i want to love you and hate you at the same time.

I enjoy your Rammstein and BTS reactions! Whoever said he/she will not watch your Rammstein videos and only BTS- that’s their lost! Prejudices are everywhere. If Rammstein is controversial? As a German I feel like they are not that much controversial as they are portrayed as in the Media. Well, it might depend on the video though haha.

  • @miolummy8287

Great Reaction - thx - Rammstein shows society a mirror in front of its face. Most of the topics they sing about and address are from the society. Partly the society is disgusted by it, but these kinds of arguments exist and will often looked away. Rammstein address these issues in his music and stage show..
The last plate stands out in this respect, so that one has the feeling that his pubescent phase is ended and are now grown up.

Many of their songs make me feel very deep and heavy emotions. Yes they are controversial because they don't care about taboos and will put their finger where it hurts. They have an amazing way with words and you can interpret the he'll out of their songs and I love that they never explain what their songs are actually about, so it is open for your very own interpretation and emotions.

Here are a few tips, from the penultimate album of course "Deutschland" (germany), "Radio" (radio) and others? Unfortunately, I have to tell you that Rammstein, of course in the context of the time they were made, always made absolutely insane videos, I'll just say quickly: Amerika (America), Sonne (Sun), Ich will (I want) , Keine Lust ( no desire) , Ohne dich (without you) , Mein Herz brennt (my heart burns ,original video, piano version and live from Download Festival) , Engel (Angel,Video and live from Madison Square Garden) , Ich tu dir weh (I hurt you,Video and MSG) , Seemann (sailor) , Mutter (mother), Du riechst so gut (you smell so god) ,Pussy and of course "Du Hast" live in paris, official video, and so on, and so on. I think you'll find out the rest yourself if you stay in the rabbit hole. Greetings from Germany, very entertaining and interesting reactions, keep it up

Rammstein are contrivercial but are not afraid to have an opinion and that's where Rammstein are misunderstood the language barrier 🚧 certain topic choices and their heavy sound and this is where their videos play such an important part to understand their music and what they are singing about. There live shows are on another level where they love to bring the heat 🔥🔥🔥 which they are well known for if not the best in the industry. I find Rammstein never fail to deliver, they are the quintessential of what a true performer is. be it video / computer or live.👍❤️🥝🇳🇿

Great thoughtful video, As others have suggested Rammstein's "Deutschland" video is a must see. Also an earlier song, "Seemann", the Rammstein video as well as a cover vesion of it by Apocalyptica featuring Nina Hagen, they are both masterpieces in my opinion. They will give you something to talk about.....for hours on end!!

Another thing that came to my the babies being put back in to the mother to be born again on earth and also coming back in a sense they died on earth and are now being born in the other world and their birth or rebirth on earth is them already starting to die because as soon as your born your dying..your dying to live or as Rammstein put it "Wir sterben weiter bis wir leben" "We keep dying until we live" because in a sense what we perceive as dying is us actually being born again into the other world that's why the girl in the end seems happy when she dies because she knows that her death here means her being born over there..if that makes any Sense?
This is art at its finest..a true Masterpiece!!

“Meine Tranen” is another one off the new album that was really deep. Kind of an unrated song on there. I was lukewarm on it at first but if you play it with the lyrics it’s definitely powerful and shows once again that very deep side of them. No music video unfortunately but definitely worth checking out a lyrical video.

Maybe you mean it in a different way when you say thier ' formula ' for videos ...
To me a formula might be ' shock ' ... Something that stands out ///
    ... might be shocking to many people at least for a moment ;
but with Rammstein it represents something / is symbolic , like the monks eating atop the body of Germania in the Deutschland video . A shocking image isn't there for shock value alone ..
~ like say a Die Antword or Marilyn Manson video ...
I've noticed with Rammstein videos ; to watch the credits is to experience the full piece of work ...
The outro music expresses the song in a different way ...

cool conversation … btw the case where Till & Flake get arrested for their Performance is the Song „Pussy“. Its about the human sexuality and no one has to judge or blame anyone for this. They do tell their perspective straight in the Face … and sorry, but prude America can’t handle it so they get arrested for it. Not every Song but many many has a deeper Meaning. And a last Information … Till ist also a Lyric Poet and has published 2 Books. Keep going guys and warm greetings from Germany 🇩🇪

Ohne Dich from Rammstein is available with subs also and it is not exactly in the formula as well its liek Zeit a little more mellow. Another great Video is for Rosenrot or even better Sonne (brings a whole new meaning to Disneys 7 dwarfs) The video si amazing :D Also Sonne is the song that was the piano version at the end of the Deutschland video. PS: Amazon has a great Documentary on their gig in Madision Squarde garden and that being their first time back in the USA after they were banned from performing there. A lot of american rock bands get their interviews in and its a great Documentary even for not rammstein fans. its called "Rammstein in AMerika" really entertaining and the guys are super humble
