Gobert is a better shot blocker and kwaii is a better perimeter defender. But when you get a player at his size and speed that Is one of the best shot blockers and one of the best perimeter defender's as well literally being the only player in the NBA that can guard every position EXTREMELY EFFECTIVELY, thats a clear indication of a DPOY! Dont let all these blocks distract you from the fact that he lead the nba in steals as well, yes that's right one of the best shot blockers in the league also lead the NBA in steals! Also add the fact that he is notoriously know for making big time defensive plays in the final seconds of games that win his team games! Im Zini This year is extremely difficult in choosing DPOTY with the dominance of Rudy Gobert on the defensive side and Kawhi Leonard actually has probably been playing better defense this year but his numbers won't show it due to the team's overall defense slipping which factors into his individual numbers. I wouldn't be mad if either one of the three get it. But, I think Draymond should get it this year considering he acted as the only interior defender for GS throughout this year at times due to McGee not getting time and playing with Zaza.
And KD when he was with OKC. He can at least contain elite scorers of any size. As good as Kawhi is, and he's great don't get me wrong, he struggles against guys with size/strength, whereas Draymond is consistently tough for everybody to go against.
Would be even nicer to see Dray putting pressure on offenses leading them to take bad shots. Just to show how good of a versatile defender he really is
