    Robert Swift's journey was crazy! To go from such a high of being a lottery pick straight out of high school to sleeping in a drug house and having it raided by police. Made 20 million and lost it all. At least he has the experience I guess, but for these reasons he's considered one of the biggest bust ever.

There were several good choices in the 2004 draft: Steve Humphries, Thomas Jefferson, Sebastian Telfair, Robert Swift, and others. I wish the Sonics and Blazers had more picks around those spots. Robert Swift had a nice turnaround jumper which reminded me of Benoit Benjamin's solid turnaround. I thought he could have been a 16 point, 9 rebounds, 1.5 blocks player, in his prime. I saw qualities in Robert Swift, from Herb Williams, Benoit Benjamin, Kevin Duckworth, Brad Miller and Scot Pollard.

    Strongly disagree that he should've gone to college first instead of the NBA. The opportunity cost is too great. He gives up millions of dollars per year and the chance to focus on basketball full-time, versus the alternative of having to go class 5x a week, and playing maybe 30+ games a season for free against weaker competition. No thanks.

Why go to college and possibly ruin your career with an injury or for whatever reason you weren't a standout? It's almost as if folks are just saying that so they can pretend to sound smart or something. Let me ask you this, if you've bought a winning lottery ticket, would you sit there picking your nose waiting to cash it next year? Didn't think so.

    I live in the Seattle area and I remember Robert being drafted. I know Ray Allen didn't invest much time talking to him much. He didn't want to make time for players who couldn't help him win an NBA title. Ray was in his prime ~2003-2007. Since he was a HS draftee he had no one around him his age so he befriended college kids of which some went to the college I went to (Bellingham's WWU). He was seen on campus a few times attending the men's WWU basketball games. When I learned of Robert getting into trouble I felt bad for him. I hope he found peace in his heart and soul.

    Didn't know he got into drugs but I knew he didn't have a good NBA career. I think of he had gone to college and developed more muscle he would've had a better chance in the league.
    I think another guy you should do is Josh Childress. He started off solid in Atlanta and then went to Greece and after that haven't heard from him. Or also do Emeka Okafor. Emeka went from winning the NCAA championship to being the #2 pick right behind Dwight in the 04 draft class winning rookie of the year but never developing offensively and also substaining some injuries later on in his NBA career.

    • @aftastosk6016
      @aftastosk6016 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Josh Childress came to olympiakos with a fat contract as a Star and he struggled badly on the Euroleague especially in the beginning. Coach was desperate, his shooting was so bad that he played PF on offence. Thet tried to use him as a tall guard but his feet were slow to keep in pace with opposing shooting guards on defence. However he worked his butt off and I can assure you when he left Olympiakos and singed with the phoenix suns he was a much better player that when he first arrived to Olympiakos.
