Haydhn I rather have the flak guns go back to the way they were a long time ago. It had some more range and damage but DICE nerfed that too. The planes are fine in eyes.
I tried the Burton for some time and its far from a "God" gun. By the time they fly by me, they're already far from my reach and repair themselves.

Early wooden planes are actually very resilient to damages because they flew quite slow and several holes on the wings/fuselages don't matter that much.

If I still played bf1 I would be upset. I only flew planes about 800h in planes I stopped playing because getting 150 kills a game got boring. But if I still played I'd be bitching about this

I always said it was a mistake to bring planes back, a good pilot is basically an excuse to shut the whole server down. Finding one of you guys on the server is like finding out you have cancer.

I mean, Christ, in WW1 they were concerned about spent shell casings burning the fabric on the wings and downing the plane that way. Their own guns could kill the aircraft! The Red Baron got his first two shotdowns with a hunting shotgun! And that was before the Albatross he tested nearly killed him when the radiator just split open. The radiator being positioned in the wing above the pilot, full of boiling water, and tending to crack open when the wings flexed in hard maneuvers.
How the fuck are these planes taking all this Anti-Aircraft fire when their actual counterparts had trouble not self destructing they were so flimsy and badly designed!
The problem is the planes are flying goddamn tanks and the Burton is just the first gun to almost do a tenth the damage it actually would.

Level, this is NOT a game breaking gun, it's just a fix for kill farming planes. This gun should have been in the game since day one, and maybe more players would still play BF1. Many left due to OP planes with unlimited ammo. I almost only play operations, and some days half of all my death's is due to planes, so since i got the Burton i found my new role/place in BF1. Simply disable as many planes as i can. PERIOD! In my world BF1 would be a much better game without planes, but You can't have your cake and eat it too right. :)

IMO, Support should have had "F-Bullets" as a gadget. They couldn't resupply nearly as quickly as the Burton's Alt ammo... But would still be a valuable part of a support user's kit. Even for guns with larger magazine capacities, it'd be simple as setting the maximum at half the total rounds normally held by that variant and forcing a reload when swapping between ammo types.

In this way, swapping ammo types would require the commitment to reload, reward your commitment and while allowing brief periods of fantastic DPS on planes it wouldn't be something you could do nearly as often as with the Burton.
Like how the mortar recharges, you can't simply restock instantly through ammo crates nor via death.

Yes. It is OK for infantry to "ruin" the game for pilots. Pilots now have to "get gud" instead of getting kills vs infantry via the OP-ness that existed before this gun.

I think that the inc. Rounds should be toned down on part damage and it should be added as a gadget to support
The burton was made as a aircraft gun but could be detached and uses as an infantry weapon if the plane went down which is a cool thing to know. It was also designed to fire incendiary rounds for taking down blimps and aircraft so that is probably why it is so effective against planes.

This doesn’t make any sense. I understand the hate for the heavy bomber, since it can camp up at the top of the map. But attack planes? Really?
It’s not that hard to take out the average attack plane pilot. And if a pilot gets a crazy killstreak? So what? How is that any different from some assault with a hellriegel or SMG 08/18 doing the same thing?
These kinda comments are probably what led DICE to make planes so underpowered in BFV. Hope they change that before launch.

I think it has been a great addition. It has made the support class more effective at close range against assault and medic players. Not to mention that planes in BF1 are really strong so having another option to take them out is a great addition. Plus it only has 20 rounds per magazine.

In all honesty, I feel like most players will be glad to see pilots struggling more so. I don't for a second think it's "easy" to use a plane to its max potential but... let's be realistic, planes have had a massive impact upon BF1.
Now has the Burton "broken" the game? I don't believe so. Firstly this is just one very specific aspect of the game. Secondly, it has weaknesses such as low ammo capacity and a lack of a bi-pod for taking people out across the map (which most LMGs can do).
So with the example of "half a team" using the Burton resulting in the enemy planes being ineffective - well yeah, that's what they're trying to achieve. But then they'll suffer against scouts, medics at range etc. Just like if half a team went for Annihilators. They'd dominate up close but get destroyed everywhere else. These are trade offs.
But could they maybe tweak the damage against vehicles? Sure. There may well be a better balance that can be achieved. But I really don't want to see it nerfed in to the ground. Infantry has been demolished by planes and behemoths for nearly 2 years now. This gives us a decent way to fight back.

I somewhat agree. As a pilot myself, it is quite annoying to be instantly disabled. That can easy be nerfed by matching the disability probability to that of the aa gun and by refusing the reloading time or magazine capacity.. Damage is fine. Range is fine. A smart person wouldnt hit a wasps nest and the same goes for any smart pilot. Any decent pilot also wouldn't always fly in a predicatable path.

Nah, it's OP. Most planes in WW1 (if not all) were wooden and fabric...wood frames, fabric wraps. They were quite resilient and not easy to shoot down by any means, because most of the time bullets would pass right through. In BF1, planes are already vulnerable to every firearm and the AA (which is quite OP, no matter which way you put it. AA can pretty much kill you from any part of the map at any altitude) now they are completely out matched by a machine gun that can be fielded by every player and will kill them pretty much instantly..
Small arms being able to damage literal cloth and wood planes isn't overpowered, rather it makes actual sense.
AA cannot kill you from anywhere on the map at any altitude. A good pilot will know where they can and cannot go without being harassed by AA. Also, AA has less range horizontally and more vertically. Fly in a straight path away from it, close to the ground. It will have a significantly harder time hitting you if you're dodging and corkscrewing away from it on top of this.
And as has been previously stated, multiple supports equipping this is effective against planes, but puts you at a major disadvantage of not having a long range support player that can effectively suppress and deal with long range threats.
I'm fine with it. Aircraft are completely over powered in BF1.

Infantry is dying from hard-to-react-to air threat from the very beginning and now we have some weapon to REALLY defend ourselfs. As someone who has been shot down on numerous occasions by pilots with huge killstreaks, I applaud DICE for adding the Burton to the game. Finally I can defend myself. Nothing more annoying or frustrating than to be totally dominated by airplanes, so...broke? No way!

With AAA guns being destructible, this was needed. Keeps those pesky OP fighters at bay.
They can, but no one ever does. The repair on it it buggy at best, and even if you do get the repair to work you'll likely be strafed by the person who broke it. Besides, all the other support class options for ground to air suck royally due to jamming or lack of sufficient rate of fire...except at combating the muromets since it's slow and large.
Fighters? Fighters don't do shit to infantrymen. I could think maybe you were talking about attack planes... But they aren't really OP though. All you need is an AA gun or an enemy plane to take one down... Sure, some players are very skilled and can survive, but this won't stop those players at that skill level, this is simply a punishment to those who are less skilled.
The Ottomeme Empire, trench fighter much? They‘re faster and take less damage per shot than an attack plane (2 for fighter from an MG, 4 for attack plane. I tested this in a server I ran.) Plus when all your options for infantry ground fire suck due the combination of lacking module damage from standard guns and massive overheat issues, this was a needed addition. If overheat wasn‘t a thing in the game for stationaries and infantry belt feds I would agree that skill was the overarching deciding factor. But Bf1 threw skill into the trash bin.....
They nerfed the fuck out of the trench fighter to the point where its USELESS against infantry.
Erick Gonzalez, just requires you to aim. Some basic dive bombing tactics and it works wonders. Dive at around 60 degrees and you‘ll see results.
In the good old times of Battlefield 2, jet bomber could pretty much destroy everything in the capture point.
But it had to go re arm back to the base. The problem with bf1 is that you just fly around 10 sec and your fully loaded again.
Well at least it makes unlocking the Parabellum LMG significantly easier now for the people who haven't gotten it yet

It'll be helpful against those bomber planes but if it gets nerfed a little I'll understand why.
I prefer the scoped and bipod version of the parabellum this way I can rip people up from a distance and pretty damn accurately too 😂

Just used it for a few matches on ps4. Plane has to be literally in your face to disable. I get more damage on a passing plane with the 8/18 and chauchat. Clearly nerfed since this video was made

I hate to say it, but when it comes to BF1, anything that destroys airplanes is good in my books. I love fighting and using ground vehicles, but air generally ruined BF1 for me. Deaths to air are almost always completely random and often happen when I'm having a nice little killstreak. I could snipe helicopters in BF4, but getting direct hits from the ground (when they don't dust) in BF1 rarely even destroys the vehicle. Fuck everything about air in BF1.
BF4, pilots are still pests because no one in pubs knows how to take them down or cares that they're getting demolished.
Same goes for naval servers and TV missiles. oh my fucking god I hate battlefield naval fighting.

This weapon ultimately brought me back to battlefield 1. I can handle infantry, just avoid tanks if needed, but I was unable to do much about planes. Good pilots know where AA guns are and often avoid them. Try emptying a entire lmg mag in a plane and they just pull out of sight, repair, and come back to kill you in one shot. This gun finally gives infantry a effective and reliable way to make a pilot not only stay away but potentially destroy the vehicle and kill them.
It's balanced from a player count perspective. The Burton is designed in-game primarily for use as an anti-air solution. You can get the odd kill or two against infantry, but its high recoil and rate of fire plus small magazine render it impotent against ground threats. If a team has an unstoppable pilot, the other team gets to sacrifice one or several of their players (depending on target plane size) to use the Burton to shoot the pilot down. They lost those heads trying to neutralize the pilot.
This gun is a god send, fucking planes are SOOOO OP in BF1 it’s mind blowing 🤯. Finally infantry can fight back!
Planes are the least OP they've been in any Battlefield series entry...for the first time in the series you can damage aircraft with any gun, and segments of the planes can be damaged to affect flight. So tell me, how are they OP? Because a single AA gun with a decent, attentive gunner can easily shoot down a single plane very quickly.

I just find it funny that people dont seem to realize theres a plane with these incendiary rounds that cripples other planes in a single volley.
That thing already counters heavy bombers and planes and the likes.
But I disagree with planes not being stupid powerful. They can be dealt with yeah, an LMG is enough to deter one but they're still not plane killers to any pilot with a brain on them. Fly low and most of the time Terrain will block infantry shots. High ground is typically constricted and leaves a wide field of view where you cant see the plane, leaving it free to attack you.
Particularly smart pilots will actually go and bomb AA before they get used since they're in fixed positions. Theres typicslly just as much a plane can do to neuter AA as there is for Infantry to attack a plane.
Aircraft are definitely weaker but they're still incredibly overbearing.
Dice isnt doing a great job with balance though, Definitely not. When they released this they really shoulda released Incendiary resistance perks for planes. Counter play is something Dice have neglected heavily in this game.
Practically everything in a game should have a counterpart that nullified or reduced its effectiveness to enable counterplay, and they just sorta flopped on that front this time for some reason.

All I gotta say is...good. It's about time the support got it's moment to shine since getting screwed on accuracy and the AA getting nerfed a while back.
No it doesn't break it, it balances it. Plane farming is absolute cancer and I hate it when people stay in a plane for 99.9 percent of a round getting about 2 deaths. I have about 600 kills with the attack plane and enjoy it myself, but farming all round is not for me.
I like to get a mg14 and rip up incoming attack planes and bombers. each round may not hurt much, but 700 rpm hurts a whole lot.
That was the guns irl purpose, it was an aircraft gun meant to be mounted in an observers seat but to also be able to be used as an infantry rifle, makes sense that its good against aircraft especially with that AA sight.

Fighters and normal bombers are fine. Attack planes are considerably powerful but = to the power of tanks and the heavy bomber is the most broken, noob friendly plane.

Infantry players = Majority of bf playerbase
Casual Pilots = infantry players who want to try/experiment with flying making few kills here and there - not annoying anyone
Pro Pilots = few annoying a-holes that just fly from day 1 and ruin everyone's experience (even their own team's) that no one cares about making happy. They deserve the LMR and any AA solution we can get.

Been using it for a few days against planes and I can say definitively that yes it instantly destroys plane parts but kills are few and far between. Not just that, but even a fully disabled plane can get away. Cant tell you how many times over the last few days I've taken out both wings and the engine only to watch the plane accelerate into a turning climb. Disabled doesn't mean shit in this game. Basically, if you have pilots on your team that can finish them off its a good pick, otherwise I almost feel like the browning is still better at taking planes down for the sustained fire
This. The damage to HP it deals per shot is only slightly higher than other LMGs in the support class. In terms of constant DPS, it actually falls behind under most conditions.
Where it excels is in burst DPS and on disabling/winging planes. This makes it great for dethrottling or winging planes as they dive by... And for sending slower crafts into downward spirals by shredding their wings wih flurries of fire from afar.

No. Its just made the support class competitive. Assaults and Medics have been reign supreme for too long. Now the support can finally face the Fedorovs and Hellriegels on equal grounds. This weapon should have been added in the first DLC.
Lol no, support is stronger than you think. Hes lmgs do decent damage and their accuracy can break a medic's selfloading rifle very easy. And he has the BAR since the beggining, that thing beats fedorovs like in an instant.

Lejend Dairy I completely agree. I dont know if DICE buffed support, but since I returned to play Bf1, from 64players, at least 32 play support and most of them are always prone. Back at launch, I dont remember seeing that many number of supports.
If there is a class that I have a problem with, is Scout because they deal excesive damage. Even if a mosquito bit you and you are 90hp, a lost bullet from a recon can still kill you.

Before an lmg can get to maximum accuracy or hell can let off enough rounds to kill me, I can dump 3 autoloading 8 marksman rounds to a guys chest.... I don't think there was a single time I lost a gunfight against someone with an LMG. Maybe you're on console who knows. Also LMGs have giant tracer rounds that let people see where you are at all times. Straight garbage. Cant go prone and lay down fire on a horde of enemies without getting shot in the face by a sniper within 1 second. The sniper class is by far the most overpowered class on maps that are long range and the medic class dominates the close range with the autoloading extended and fedorov... I've never really used the assault class unless I wanted to have some fun with the slug model 10. That thing was op if used correctly and much better than all other shotguns

I disagree for the sole fact that a good attack plane pilot can still rack up 50+ kills easily while infantry not being able to do anything. This gun changes that.

Lol levelcap it didnt break BF1 at all. what about the Muromets that can "orbit" and just crap out bombs killing half the team and the team dont even know ...they can fly out of range of AA Rocket guns and AA Guns...you then have to rely on your own Pilots to take them down...Its the same in a sense with tanking cos when they die they sit at the spawn screen and wait for it to come back instead of actually helping the team...this is why im a huge fan of putting AT mines at there spawn points just so they get out of the loop and actually play.

Nope, you're wrong in every way. I'm a level 50 pilot and my killstreaks are still going relatively unchallenged and as far as I know, I haven't even been hit by one of these yet. Planes are definitely not, in any way, completely useless.
Still love this gun. Switxhing to fire shots is faster than a reload and that helps take on more than one gun fight

Infantry needed this. Saw a pilot go 70-5 last night. Not everyone wants to sit in an AA truck, small arms fire didn't do enough to provide incentive to engage, and any half decent pilot knows to destroy AA guns
Some of the lmgs can actually tear planes up (1917, perinos, mg/14, mg/08) with sustained fire. Each shot may not do a whole lot, but with a high rate of fire (600-700 rpm for the mg08 and m/14 respectively) or long range accuracy (1917 or perinos) you may not kill them, but they tend to not stick around for long.
Honestly the gun doesn't feel broken at all. I went and equipped it not long after watching this video, against close range infantry it's solid, you can usually kill players before they notice anything, same with weaker ground vehicles but it still takes a few mags. I've used it on planes a few times, only got solid results on bombers. While the gun does do a lot of damage to planes it doesn't mean that anyone with the gun can just look up and shoot whenever, honestly if a plane is coming after you there's still a high chance of death, and the guns range isn't crazy either. If you're lucky and the plane doesn't kill you, this gun is good for retaliating but only in a couple bursts. Level Cap my friend, you got very lucky with the planes in the video.
Also I still feel that any assault player with decent aim can still kill you way faster with an SMG. The Burton does have the damage and speed, but it's lack of control is a pretty big set back. This is just based off my experience though, I'm not the best and I don't play SMGs super often so I could also be wrong there.
The Burton 1917 LMR (Light Machine Rifle) was purely experimental, and only one or two were ever made. Yet it's very interesting, and I'm glad they added it to the game. It was actually by definition an assault rifle, since it was select-fire, fed from detachable magazines and was chambered for an intermediate round. Forgotten Weapons has a video on it if anyone is interested.
The Burton didn't break the game... beforehand getting infantry kills for a pilot was and is still insanely easy. Hell the strategic bomber can fly up so high that even stationary AAs can't hit it and they just sh*t bombs everywhere and annihilate half the team. Finally ONE of the 4 infantry classes has a REAL way of dealing with planes (I don't take the AA rocket gun into consideration, it's pretty pointless) and now the game is broken? SMH
It's not as though every class had a way to deal with planes, only one and it's only a single weapon...

Agreed. Never understood why people whine about planes in anything but operations. If you got a friend or 2 an AA rocket gun volley of 2 or 3 people will legit instantly destroy a plane no questions asked. Or an LMG laying waste to a plane enough that he has to either die or run off and repair.

Why does it seem like every time anything new comes to BF1, people complain about it being “OP”, and “disturbs the balance of the game”? How can anything be appealing if everything is the same? The “balance” for this weapon is a 20 round mag.
Also, limited view due to the huge magazines taking up half the screen, having to choose correct ammo, and recoil is pretty rough at medium to long range.
It's very well-balanced. Pilots will just have to adjust their plan of attack instead of flying nose-first into a hail of bullets without need to worry. Now, they have to be fast, agile, and use tactics to be effective.

As someone who likes to hang back and play support, this is my dream weapon.
What I learned, by use, is, right after blazing through 20 rounds, you can switch to the next 20 rounds, instead of reloading the same clip, then continue with the next clip, then reload both clips.
Finally a good way to deal with l with OP planes. It's not OP at all. Pilots are annoying because they don't actually contribute to anything besides kills.
A detriment to pilots to be sure, but honestly, I know people who have completely left the game because they were tired of getting killed by skilled pilots with what felt like absolutely no way to counter them. Even when concentrating lmg fire, all the plane had to do was fly away and heal. On console, recoil is also harder to control - so keeping a steady stream of fire on a plane can be a bit more tricky. Planes in the console games I've played dominate completely unchallenged. People have just resorted to ignoring them and accepting the deaths. Plus, concentrating on killing planes just gets you killed, helps your team lose, and neglects you any reasonable share of points. The flak canon for assault was nice, but it requires equipping it, determination to kill planes, skill, and timing - all things you cannot expect randoms to have. I miss the days of BC2 when a well-placed RPG could completely put an end to opposing air domination (aka the infamous chopper circle jerk).

They are completely unbalanced andjust because this lmg does what it's supposed to, does not make it op.
