The first time I saw a smartphone, I thought, "A port of PepsiMan would be great on these." That's how memorable it is for me. Still waiting for it too.
i never once said it was bad or crap game heck i never even mentioned the word 'commercial' in my comments; in all honesty I loved pepsi man when i was kid.
They forgot to say: Coca-cola is a proud sponsor of this video! (Because Pepsi man was ORIGINAL, and it has kinda good graphics, (for its time) and it had Mike Butters.)
Rascal was one of my first games, brutal memories: the weak bubble gun, terrible save system and brutal controls .... yet I absolutely loved it as a kid lol
You guys remember the end of the temple level, where there were two ramps with balls rolling down them, and you had to climb to the top dodging back and forth? I got stuck on that every time because the platforming was so bad. I still think about that part years later.
Why not Psybadeck instead? At least Pepsiman could Actually be enjoed! Psybadeck, on the other hand, had one problem. I'll tell you exactly that problem: Everything (even the game over screen).
The publishers of Rascal (the now-defunct Psygnosis) actually had good titles, like the first few Lemmings games. They had good intentions when trying to make Rascal, but failed. They just wanted to enter the posse of 3D mascot platform games. They may have missed the mark pretty badly, but they didn't want it to be bad - pretty much every video game company doesn't want that. Not to mention the developers, Traveler's Tales, is now a successful developer for the Lego video games. BTW 98% of this videos comments berating WM for dumping on Pepsiman 1% is comments with the percent thing. 1% is this comment which is more than just percentage.
Pressure from publishers/investors and deadlines have really been the bane of video games since they became more complex than say, Atari games. It's even part of what made Bubsy3D so bad. It's just so obviously an unfinished game. Most of the game has no textures at all and it's literally just a default checkerboard texture that you'd see in a game engine. It all just screams of unfinished design in every aspect. Voice acting is clearly just thrown together last second with probably just one take. The sound effects are extremely stock, and even the main model seems like it wasn't complete. Even Dark Souls...lauded as one of the greatest games of all time (and my personal favorite) is *so obviously* not complete because it was put out in such a short time frame. Look at how devoid of everything Lost Izalith is. Look at how plastic the textures are for a game that came out the same year as Infamous 2 and Crysis 2. It's obviously incomplete, but it was put out anyway because of pressure. The gaming industry is run like big business, and the only games that are typically worthy of praise anymore are ones from indie developers. Games not held down by time frames. Passion projects that become universally known because the people making them are more concerned with making good games instead of making the maximum amount of profit.
Psygnosis (Studio Liverpool) was awesome. Wipeout was great, Destruction Derby was great, Rollcage was great, Jak and Daxter was great. They could have kept on going but Sony had ownership of them and ended up shutting them down
SHUT UP WATCHMOJO, BUBSY 3D IS THE BEST GAME OF ALL TIME, IT CHANGED MY LIFE i was in a coma then some kid was playing bubsy 3d so i woke up and switched the ps1 off
These games are definitely awful, but I think that partly added to the charm of this era of gaming. Not every game was made by a huge developer. There was less red tape around getting a game released and a lot of gems came from that, and even bad games that were quirky enough to be enjoyable, even if only briefly. I kind of miss the days where I had to just take the risk and buy a game based on my gut feeling, or find a review in a magazine if I wasn't sure. Everything nowadays feels so sterile and safe. I want ugly, bad games and new IPs, instead of more AAA sequels with gritty, life-like graphics.
How The Simpsons Wresting is a terrible game? Ah yes I'm sure you'll say The Graphics of course it's based on Cartoons. The Controls is okay. And The Gameplay is decent. So i hardly disagree with this game being on the list.

@@HonestFarmerLigue1Fan let's just say they fell flat on the ps1 era. Luckily trilogy and UMK3 saved them. +Colton Grayson actually I feel that game gets a bum rap, while i'd agree it could have been better and it's definitely the week link of PS1 Resident Evil games. It was still a fairly decent game if you were a fan of the series.
