If it is CONTRA LUZ play of color opal, make your angles OVER CRITICAL so the light makes the transmitted light play of color appear. (From one of the owners of the Bonanza Mine in Nevada.)
Another awesome cut. I like that you don't just toss the stone to the side when you mess up. You problem solved and now you have a sellable stone. A nice one too.
Love opals and in the recent years discovered Mexican Opals. Great job! The otherday I picked up a used raytech shaw faceter. Mines a bit older than yours, but I think it's okay... (despite missing the lap nut) Unfortunately around here there isn't as many lapidarist around my area. Been watching a lot of your vids!
I have never seen a faceted opal until now, and I think your creation looks amazing! I've made many opal cabochons but you have given me the impetus to try a faceted opal. Thank you.
Good luck and have fun! It's real easy to polish since it's so soft. If I do another one, I'd try to find a deeper design to keep more color play in there.
For a piece that you had to cut on the fly because of one mistake, it turned out beautifully! Opal of any kind if going to be more forgiving of mistakes, as long as it remains visibly the same, and not wonky, because it doesnt rely on the light refraction to give the stone its beauty. So you cant tell if the cuts are wrong. It would be the cuts above the girdle that mattered because of symmetry. But that is an absolutely gorgeous stone. and because of the color play in it, it is so beautiful, you dont need light refraction to set off the beauty. It is literally skin deep! and too much internal refraction would detract from the beauty of this stone. So you could not have picked a better stone to have a mistake on, unless it was a cheap glass stone that you could just get any glass and start over! That would have been better. But this mistake, didnt really hurt anything that i can see.Its beautiful and looking at it as any girl would, i would love to wear that stone proudly!
It was fortunate that my mistake happened exactly halfway between two facets. When this happens, I like to think rather than cutting wrong, I now have a faceted stone in a design that no one else has made, because likely no one else made that exact mistake!
Custom work depends on the faceter. I've seen prices range from $99 per carat to $250 flat rate or sliding scales depending on stone size. But expect at least $120 maybe.
You need a much better aet up for showing your finished pieces, you are doing uourself a disservice. The lighting needs to be better and maybe make it dark in some of your ahots and shine a light on the gem to see it sparkle more....make it more professional and your efforts will be appreciated by more people...just a thought.

Turned out beautiful man! Good recovery!
That turned out great even with the mistake. I'm surprised at how good the opal looks faceted, you don't see that much. Thanks for sharing!
