    “Back in my day, we had to live with our real skin, and use our body creativily with it’s limitations. Nowadays teens just say “I want a cooler body” for the sake of it, and I think that’s wrong”

      lmao! You should have totally pushed that into the book script

      i am 26 rn,.. my craziest dream ( since the tech isnt there yet) is to fusion my consciousness with a fcking spaceship, or something similar and explore the universe, so i can then give my data to humanity,.. what i mean is that tbh i know for a fact that if i see shit like this i will be embracing it

    • @Pvezin
      @Pvezin 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ReyZar666 Well according to traditional esoterism you can absolutely do that, not sure about bringing data tho. I never really studied the esoteric so this is mostly a joke.
      I am all for transhumanism but my aim in life has become understanding the capabilities of this machine we were given. Seems to be a lot more to it than meets the eye. I always thought when things like a eye with inbuilt zoom or mechanical legs that allowed me to jump higher became avaiable, id change mine for the enhanced in a heartbeat. But im starting to have doubts, theres something "magical" about the biological.

    • @ReyZar666
      @ReyZar666 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Pvezin yeah something "magical" about getting old and useless,.. i dont think so, as i say before thats my wildest dream a dream after all, but i hope that one day it will be possible.
      Been stuck in this small piece of rock "falling" into a big junk of plasma isnt fun at all, the idea of becoming better and reaching new highs at the end of the day is what the human is all about questioning the unthinkable and pushing him self to the limits, just like we once thought flying was a myth and that the human was created by god, we now know how wrong we are and how little we really know,.. so maybe one day my wildest dream wont be so wild any more.
      Its a reality that what define as a human, will change and will change for good after all we live longer and are taller than we use to, not so long ago.

    Great video! As a graphic & motion graphic designer, I love your attention to detail and your very design take on this title. You really made me think and get even more excited with your recognition of that sort of 'corporate brand/product cohesion' that marketing companies peddle to consumers, and how the 1 size fits all mentality of cyberware in this universe fits the "high-tech low life" ethos of cyberpunk (punk being especially invoked) SO FUCKING WELL.
    I really like how the technology for vehicles and every day tech retains this analogue/80's style aesthetic, almost like it was frozen in time once they hit a certain 'tech floor' with how the technology works. It really gives you this feel that pondsmith's (Original table top creator) cyberpunk world sort of hit certain strides in technology way before we did in the modern world.

    Really great review! I particularly liked the car section and how close they resemble old car ads. Almost liked they scanned a bunch of those ads and “futurized” them, using the ads themselves as a base. And because style is so cyclical anyway, it works within the the world they’ve created !

    I preorder this book, and this book reminds me of the God Of War (2018) book, meaning: GoW's art book was cohesive with the game and vise versa with the game. Although I have not played CP2077 game, you can feel while you flip though the pages that you are in the universe, and I think if a art book can make you feel that you are in the world, then I know damn well the game will do the same and then some. Awesome book. I am going to read it again days before the game comes out.

    as far as I understand, "Kiroshi optics" make these implants for more enhancement of the eye like anti-dazzle, cyber cams, shields and so on. CD Projekt Red always labels in their job requirements to have passion for games. I think this may be a key ingredient for having great games in the end :) I love your videos, Adam. :D this review was one I was waiting for since your first post on Insta about this artbook. I simply love your mind, philosophy, spirit...however you want to call it. Great thanks to you and wish you a nice day :)

  • @StruttinStrayCat

    I hate to break it to you, but that isn’t the art book. It’s the _World_ of Cyberpunk 2077 which examines the lore of the game. I wondered how you got the game’s art book before the game came out. Then, as you were going through it, I wondered why it had so much text and so little concept art and didn’t really feel like an art book. Upon slightly further research, I learned that it’s less of an art book and more of a visual guide to the game world. It’s still cool that CDPR released it, but it’s not quite what you’re advertising. I think they’ll release the official art book after the game is out, which I look forward to you exploring with us in a future video.

    • @waynechriss
      @waynechriss 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I heard this was advertised as an artbook but you're right, its a lore book. The fiction is what is front and center and the images and art that are in the book help paint a picture for said fiction...which isn't a bad thing if you're going into it wanting more of the world of Cyberpunk. I thought it was a great read. Also I dunno if they'll make an artbook for this game. From what I seen, Witcher 3 also got a lore book (same writer too) and a official artbook didn't come out for that game.

    • @StruttinStrayCat
      @StruttinStrayCat 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@waynechriss Hmmm... it would be a shame if they didn’t release an art book. That’s what I was looking forward to about this game, especially since it turned out to be a blunder.

    I just had to get the Deluxe Edition of this book because I love what they're doing with the packaging for both this and the Collector's Edition of the game.
    I can't wait for November, it's going to be a blast exploring this dense and atmospheric city!
    I've been getting more and more into more immersive and narratively driven titles, and Cyberpunk is probably the only one close on the horizon that fits that description, so I hope that the quests and NPC interactions are complex and diverse, the rest of the game's mechanics are secondary to me.

    I like this channel a lot, it is great to get to see some of these books before buying them and hear what you have to say, Adam. This book though, is not called The art of Cyberpunk 2077, It is called The world of Cyberpunk 2077, witch makes a difference in content apparently. I was really hyped after seeing this video, but when I got the book myself, expecting an artbook, I was really disappointed. It is very little actual art from the game, it is mainly a written introduction to the world the game takes place in. And personally I want to get the story and lore of the game when I play the game itself, not read it before. So I found this video a bit misleading, I hope that is fair feedback. Always looking forward to see what you review next :)

      Just my 2 cents:
      You guys seem to still have the horrific crunch in mind that was over at naughty dog, bioware or gearbox (just as some of the most prominent examples). But you seem to forget that europe does have special regulation for "crunch". Whilst employees of Bioware/EA claimed they weren't able to see their families, lost families, etc while those crunch-times... you can certainly be sure that this is an abolute no go in the EU. "Crunch" over here is different than crunch over in the US. In the US I would call it not "crunch" but "temporarily slavery". In fact it's called overtime hours and they (employees of the CP2077 Team) will get extra money for every hour (up to 200%) + 10% of the anual profit from 2020 for each member of the team on top! Every workspace does work overtime from time to time. That doesn't mean it's inhumane like over at Bioware or Naughty Dog.

    "it wouldnt surprise me if, in the future, pple start misinterpreting Witcher 3 lore as real lore"
    Yea, that's so true. Tolkein's works, for instance, aren't actually that old, but they're already used as the basis of so much of today's interpretation of high fantasy that a lot of ordinary pple don't know the difference anymore.

    Sad that CDPR didnt put any kind of effort to expand the lore of the gangs and district they instead they concentrate on Johnny Silverhand story because of Keannu Reeves instead of the Lore of the game...

    Witcher lore is made out of many real folklores. Most of the creatures in the game are from actual folklore of european countries.
